On three consecutive Saturdays this being the first one, Stevenage rostered a RMC on the first journey for Green Line rte "716 Stevenage - Chertsey", Seen here laying over at Addlestone garage before the return service back to Stevenage mid morning.

With Stevenage not having RMC's allocated she was loaned from Garston garage for this journey.

Seen on route 461 in Ottershaw.

Since Falcon Buses took on the 461, a campaign has tried to persuade them to re-extend the route from Addlestone to St. Peter's Hospital. Initially, the 431 (St. Peter's Hospital - Field Common) was turned into a shuttle to Addlestone, linking with the 461 for onward journeys east.

Just before the coronavirus pandemic, Falcon Buses announced that finally they would be extending the 461 to provide a half-hourly through service from St. Peter's Hospital through Addlestone, Weybridge and Walton to Kingston. The pandemic accelerated this change, with the route extended a few weeks ahead of the initial date to cater for NHS staff at the hospital. Happily, the extension is here to stay.

The "St Peters Hospital" part of the branding originally had a "Via 431" sticker above it which has commendably been removed in line with the change.

Rte "463 Addlestone - Woking" with RMC1510 in company with preserved RT3198 running over the old London Country routes allocated to Addlestone / Guildford garages.

A fairly localised sunset sky to the north west of Addlestone

Addlestone Garage on 27 January 1979 with SM 536 and 144 on the forecourt and several other SM`s and various withdrawn vehicles further down the yard.

Rte "456 Pyrford Schools - Woking Stn" would work via Sheerwater due to the two low height railway bridges either side of Woking Stn., this was operating a private charter for the day around the area of Woking & Guildford of old Addlestone double deck routes.

Abellio Surrey had only been going downhill in the recent times (I remember when they had the 7̶1̶5̶ 515, and some routes in Staines), only to end up with a single route in most recent days - the 461.

But even then this came to an end, with the route being taken over by Falcon Coaches on Saturday of September 15th.

So on Thursday I found some time in the afternoon to pop into Molesey, and grab a shot of at least one of the buses before the end. This was the best outcome I got.

Now to get the route done! It now has brand new E200MMCs.

A very frosted - and possibly withdrawn - RP 83 at Addlestone Garage on 27 January 1979.

Cardinal Buses took over the shortened version of the 557 today - it now runs only between Addlestone and Sunbury Tesco.

The withdrawal of the Addlestone to Woking section does mean that corridor is down from every 30 minutes to hourly - however, it does leave the remaining end free from low bridges...

It spent more time in public service than any of the other first 4 prootypes.

It was converted to standard front in it's working life, but now remains in preservation with the original front style front.

Ten AEC coaches came to London Country from Barton, Nottingham in 1977 and most gave ten years service before withdrawals began in 1988. This is RN 5 at Addlestone Garage on 27 January 1979. It is possible to see a feature that made these coaches unusual - the nearside seats were all for three people with conventional two seats along the offside. Conventional is probably not the right word as the seat width must have been much reduced to facilitate this arrangement and thus these vehicles were mainly used on bus work rather than long distance trips.

Addlestone Garage in the early morning biting cold on 27 January 1979. So many buses of different types were tightly gathered there and for some of the more interesting examples a `part` shot was about as best that could be done. RML 2316 would have years more passenger carrying service ahead of it back with LT but not so for RF 175. Was there ever another livery change that so pleasingly transformed a `mid life` bus as was the case with the `modernised `RF`s?

RP22 del to Romford 1/72, t/f to Addlestone 5/72, w/d from that garage 10/83, sold to Wombwell for disposal 2/84

I can still remember how bitterly cold it was when I took this picture at Addlestone Garage on 27 January 1979. The windows were heavily iced on everything parked outside including SM 527 and RT 981.

Recently passing into my hands was this interesting picture.

It is an official pre-delivery publicity shot of Ribble Leyland Atlantean PDR1 No.1255 (NRN604) taken on behalf of Weymann Coachbuilders, whose coach specification bodywork adorns this example of Preston's finest chassis.

No.1255 was delivered to Ribble in June 1960, the panelled off area to the rear contains the vehicle's toilet.

The rear of the print has Weymann's official stamp which reads “Weymann’s Limited - Coach Builders - Works:- Addlestone, Surrey" and has the number 61987.

This particular vehicle was one of 12 which passed in 1971 from Ribble to Teesside Municipal Transport to help speed up their OMO route introduction. TMT removed the toilet equipment, luggage racks & coach seating and replaced the lot with seating from withdrawn trolleybuses. This example would be renumbered by them to A57.

Cardinal Buses Trident LX53 JYO pulls up at the Addlestone town centre stop, having just lost the fight it tried to pick with the cars parked further back in the layby.

This was the company's first day on this ex-Abellio and now shortened service.

Apparently, Darts are being prepared for it, but in the meantime, Tridents are in use.

Slightly before sunset but this was about as good as the colours got over Addlestone this afternoon
