Meet Dexter, a Red Catahoula Leopard dog. He is a wonderful companion and fast learner. He's filling the empty space in my heart when Zoey passed away, and helping me heal inside.

Can't wait to get her home..also has a matching chair. Never seen another one like it!

that's clay on her head to give the scalp a little shape because her head warped so her hair is having a bit trouble getting placed correctly....

the blue graffiti is one i've seen before (in fact, it's the only one i've seen in more than one place), but the addition of 'i love you a lot' on the side made me laugh.

Day 13 - windows and siding

Digging for the foundation footer started on the north wall. The bucket of the machine is roughly adjacent to where my desk is now.

This is the newest addition to the Janamade collection. Sterling silver "Gift Tag" pendant made from two layers of sterling silver, and oxidized for style and contrast. Meant to be worn as the first of a series of charms, this necklace is perfect with all ensembles.

In addition to the March for Victims, Take Back the Night Week sponsored guest speakers, free self-defense classes, a “Walk in Her Shoes” March for high-heeled-adorning men, and educational programs. One such program was the Clothesline Project, which allowed students to make tee shirts with messages of hope and personal connections to domestic violence.

The parish church was commenced in the early 12th century, with alterations and additions over the years, and was largely completed in 1350. It owes its growth and magnificence to two important factors – the wealth and prosperity of Gaddesby village in feudal times, and its association with the Knights Templar of Rothley.

The lower parts of the ironstone tower (with its broach spire) are the oldest part of the church. The present porch is 18th century. The chancel is difficult to date. There is a fine east window firmly Early English in style, on the south side is a Decorated window and also a Perpendicular one.

Two pillars in the south arcade have raised stone ledges round them which served as seating for the aged and infirm; before 1350 the congregation was obliged to stand during services. The pews in the nave are probably 15th century. Box family pews once stood in the North aisle.

The limestone font is circa 1320 carved with lilies and a consecration cross. The wooden screen, altar furnishings and reredos are late Victorian.

There is a near life-size sculptured monument by Joseph Gott, 1848, of Col. Cheney on one of the four horse reputedly shot from under him in the Battle of Waterloo. This statue depicts Colonel Edward Hawkins Cheney of the Royal Scots Greys. He had four horses killed from under him. He rose off on the fifth and the command of the regiment devolved upon him. At the base a panel shows Sergeant Ewart in hand to hand combat, with a French officer, trying to recapture a lost Napoleonic eagle.

He married Eliza Ayre whose father, John Ayre Esquire lived at Gaddesby Hall, which property Colonel Cheney inherited. He died in 1845.

There is a, perhaps apocryphal story, that Joseph Gott, on completing the statue, realised that he had left out the tongue of the “in extremis” horse. It is said that in despair he committed suicide. The horse’s teeth have been stained by the apple placed in its mouth each year at harvest festival time.

In the north aisle is an effigy of an unknown knight and an alabaster incised slab to William Darby and his wife (1498).

The latest addition of blurry phone picutres, I take pride in my use of colored pens at work. Andrew, in yesterday's picture, is my office manager, and he bought me all of these pens right after I started working at the office I'm at now. Maybe it's juvenile, but it brings me happiness to dull office life. :)

This is the latest thing to be found in the Pittman Addition Hydro Park, it's to the branch of a tree.

Nothing says 'fun!' like a jackhammer. I was originally hoping to just build on top of the patio slab but quickly realized that a perimeter foundation trench would have to be dug (for the city if not for the structure...) so out with the old...

sunday we went to the Hat Museum, it's located in Ladds Addition. There were no photos allowed inside so you have to go there yourself to see the place…it's amazing. It's only open by appointment and only 6 people at a time. It's worth it to see over 1000 hats in history not to mention the mushroom hat.
