My newest addition to my Lake Moraine pictures. It was lightly snowing/hailing out this day so It was a pain to climb to the top but I set up my camera for a 30 second exposure with a ND filter on and saturated those colors in. It was cold, but worth it. I will go back in the upcoming month to get a photo with a lot of snow and hopefully a bright open sky.
Please take a look at my photostream for all my Lake Moraine photos.
Any comments would be welcome.
Thanks,
Darryl
A new addition to my "One of a kind" flower images project. As you will see from the explanation below - what we think is the flower is actually modified leaves?. I will have to find a flower soon and put it under the microscope :-)
Dogwood flowers are not "true" flowers. White petals are actually bracts, modified leaves that surround centrally positioned miniature yellowish-green flower heads. Each flower head consists of 20 to 30 individual flowers. Dogwood produces bisexual flowers (they contain both male and female reproductive organs).
All is occupied, but feel free to come and visit the public part :)
"Luanes World - Live the Dream", is the newest addition to the Luanes World sims. But as a difference to "Luanes World" @Slice of Heaven and "Luanes Magical World" @ Morning Glow, who are public sims, "Luanes World - Live the Dream" @ Tabara is a residential sim.
The rentals consist of 7 different houses, all with water view.
The rest of the sim is free for all to use, and enjoy.
Note this sim is moderate, so keep everything naughty inside of your house:)
Please respect the privacy of the other tenants - do not contact anybody else, when they are in the privacy of their own home. If you meet them in the public areas, you can of course say hi :)
Price:
Each rental, no matter which house you choose, is 799/week, with a 2 week minimum pay the first time.
After the first payment you can pay between 1-4 weeks at a time.
Prims:
You get 250 prims to decorate the house, and the nearest surrounding with. Please keep within the prim limit, as we all have to share the prims available.
If you need additional prims, you can buy extra prims - in units of 25 prims for 75 linden/week. Write me a notecard if you want your prim limit changed.
Privacy:
Each rental has it's own security orb, and the parcel setting is set to private, so you will be invisible to people from outside the parcel.
You can add people to the security orb, once I have set it up for you.
Music and parcel name and description:
If you want the parcel to have a specific name and/or description, write it in a notecard, and I will add that for you.
Also if you would like a specific music stream, you can put that in a notecard as well, and I will change that for you.
Luanes Residential World Group:
"Luanes World - Live the Dream" @ Tabara has its own group where only tenants will be able to join (as well as subtenants). Only members of this group will be able to rezz on the sim, but the public parts are open for everybody.
Upon renting a house, send me a notecard, and I will invite you to the group, so you can start decorating your new home. Any subtenants you need adding, you put in the notecard as well. Note that this is only needed, if they need to be able to rezz as well.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me. If I am not online, please send a notecard, as my IM's get capped.
Sincerely LuaneMeo.
The Sumela Monastery, which stands on the foot of a steep cliff facing the Altındere Valley in the region of Maçka in Trabzon Province, Turkey, is popularly known as “Meyem Ana” (The Virgin Mary). The building complex is nearly 300 meters high and was built following the tradition of monasteries that were located outside the cities in forests near cave and source of water. The elevation of the Monastery is about 1350 meters.
The Monastery, founded in honor of the Virgin Mary, took the name of “Sumela” which derives from “Melas,” meaning black. Although it is thought that it has taken this name from the mountains, the Karadağlar (Black Mountains), on which it stands, it could also be associated with the black color of the icon of the Virgin Mary.
According to tradition, the Monastery was founded by two priests called Barnabas and Sophronius who came from Athens during the reign of the Emperor Theodousius I (AD 375 - 395). Then, in the 6th century, it was restored by the General Belisarius at the behest the Emperor Justinian who wanted it to be enlarged and restored.
The Monastery reached its final, present form in the 13th century. It gained importance during the reign of Alexios III (1349 - 1390) of the Comnenian Empire of Trabzon, which had been established in 1204. Its income was assured from imperial funds. During the time of Manuel III, son of Alexios III, and the reigns of later princes, Sumela gained further wealth from new imperial grants.
During the 18th century, many parts of the Monastery were restored and the walls were decorated with frescoes. In the 19th century, the Monastery took on an impressive appearance with the addition of larger buildings. This was the Monastery’s heyday and it attracted many foreign travelers who mentioned it in their writings.
The large building with a balcony on the front part of the cliff was used for the monks’ cells and as a guesthouse, it dates to 1860.

Several German federal states, not all, hold state garden shows at irregular intervals, known by the abbreviation LAGA. In Saxony, it is being held in 2022 from 23 April to 9 October in the town of Torgau on the Elbe, famous for its Renaissance architecture. The largest area of the LAGA is the city park, which has existed since the 19th century on the glacis of the former Torgau Fortress. Torgau Fortress developed in the 17th and 18th centuries from an extension of the medieval city wall. In 1811 it was expanded as a Saxon fortress under King Friedrich August I at the request of Napoleon Bonaparte. After the end of the Napoleonic Wars, Torgau had to be handed over from the Kingdom of Saxony to Prussia in 1815. The fortress was now further developed as a Prussian fortress until it was abandoned in 1889 and largely demolished in the following decades. The city park, which we last saw five years ago, has been significantly and sustainably upgraded with flower beds, a footbridge called Ornissteg for bird watching on the lake and renewed paths. In addition, there is the "Young Garden" with playgrounds, sports and skating facilities, the newly developed recreational area of the Eichwiese (Oak Meadows), through which one can reach the Elbe meadows with a lookout tower, and a smaller area on the path from the Elbe to the Renaissance castle with a concert area and a dahlia show.
In addition to the Hafencity, Hamburg has even more water to offer. Because there is not only the river Elbe that flows through the city but also the river Alster.
The latter was dammed into a sizeable lake around 1250 in order to use the energy from it to drive a mill.
It was not until 1616 to 1625 that the mill pond was separated into outer and inner Alster with the construction of the Hamburg ramparts.
The inland lake, on whose banks we are standing here, has an area of around 180,000 square meters and is on average 3 meters deep.
There is another photo of this place (then without trees and with a clear view). With this I will tell you something about what you can see on the other bank.

In addition to the two steam locomotives, the Brohtal D5 was another big attraction of the weekend. The miniaturized Class 218 was originally built for the FEVE in Spain and was imported back to Germany by the Brohtal to handle their freight traffic. It is somewhat seldom to see it in passenger service.

Here is an addition to the photo of Römerberg in Frankfurt from last week.
Because of the image balance, the row of houses on the left side of the image was forced to be cut off. Here you can see what I cut off. It would have been a real shame not to show that (I think). Because the coffee change is a chic sight.
It becomes really impressive when you imagine that the building was probably built at the year 1563. However, this is a faithful reconstruction because the original was completely destroyed in the Second World War (after standing here undamaged for almost 400 years), along with the rest of Frankfurt's old town.

What comes after spring? Winter, right? Of course, this is complete nonsense, as every child knows. But since I still see a lot of unpublished snow here in front of me, I have to ignore the natural order and do a roll backwards.
So we are now back in January at a lake near Schwepnitz. What inspired me to take this photo were, in addition to the frozen tree trunk, all the animal tracks around me. There must have been a lot going on here the night before because most of them looked pretty fresh.

In addition to the previous shot... here is the bittern with its head pointing straight up. What I was astonished to notice was the position of its eyes! It is still looking straight at me! (See Large for the eye view).

The latest addition to my night captures takes in the Thai capital of Bangkok. Here we visit the Chinatown area of the city. In the day a mecca of fresh produce, at night the hawker stalls fill the air with fantastic aromas from Asian cuisine.
Tuk tuk, the quickest and maddest way to get around this vast metropolis captured against the backdrop of the evening lights. This place is magical.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus paired with the Zeiss ExoLens PRO Macro-Zoom, wish I had more time to play with this lens. In addition I tried out the Halide app very quickly to take the shot, it allows RAW capture and manual settings (see review link below) looks promising. Used together with the usual hardware, a Shoulderpod S1, Manfrotto Tripod and Manfrotto 486RC2 Ballhead with Hisy remote. Micro edit in Snapseed on iPad Pro. Can't believe how tech has evolved over the last decade or so.....especially in drones. 💪
The subject matter is a Tiny Whoop (FPV aircraft/micro drone) I had for my birthday. (Another thing I wish I had more time for!)
To give a sense of scale the camera body from end to end is 20mm x 10mm tall. The whole quadcopter is 80mm x 80mm. Link below.
And for those not familiar with First-person view (FPV), it's a method used to control a radio-controlled vehicle (in this case the micro drone) from the driver or pilot's view point. The vehicle is either driven or piloted remotely from a first-person perspective via an onboard camera, fed wirelessly to video FPV goggles or a video monitor. So you can't take photos with the one I have, but I suppose you could use stills from the video but the quality would be poor. It’s pretty much for practice and fun only.

The Southern Railway of British Columbia's westbound Abbotsford switcher climbs one of the many small grades in the Mount Lehman area of Abbotsford, BC. This line's roller coaster grade profile, and everpresent parallel pole lines are a not so subtle clue to it's origin as an interurban railway.
The British Columbia Electric Railway was already a thriving interurban operation in the Vancouver suburbs on the north side of the Fraser River when construction of the new 'Fraser Valley Branch' began in 1909. Enabled by the 1904 construction of the Fraser River Bridge by the Federal Government, the Fraser Valley Branch stretched from New Westminster, through the then rural farming communities of Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, and finally Chilliwack. Once opened in 1910, the Fraser Valley Branch boasted a healthy ridership in addition to significant business in transporting milk and other farm products into Vancouver for sale. The last interurban trolley ran in 1958, after which the ownership and control was passed on to the crown electric power corporation 'BC Hydro' who continued freight operations as a short line. BC Hydro leased the freight rights, rolling stock, and track to the American shortline operator Itel in 1988, who in turn sold to the current owner, the Washington Group in 1994.
The two MP15DC powering the train wear the same paint scheme that until recently the other Washington Group rail property, Montana Rail Link also used. Of the 14 cars that the train departed Abbotsford with, 10 were dropped at Gifford, and only 4 covered hoppers remain. These would be left at Sperling for their eastbound counterpart from New Westminster to spot.
While 10,781 foot high Mount Baker soaks up the last sunlight of the day in the background, the dense forest on Mount Lehman has been shading these rails from the sun for hours already.
I like having multiple methods to photograph people with, because it stops me from getting bored of one format, and if I fail in one I usually succeed in another. On this occasion, pretty much all of my double exposures were subpar. Shooting with no shade on a Spring day with color film didn't help. I sort of stacked the deck against myself. But normal color portraits? Easy. Flowers were everywhere, Sarah is immensely photogenic; mix the two and you've got everything you ever wanted out of photography. It's always good to have options, but best to have a gorgeous model.

I thought this piece from one of the Nexo Knight figs would make a useful mysterious smoke like appearance.
Seems to fit alright?
Try it out on your Mysterios. We'll start an army!
In addition to the man made tunnel not long before the trees acted as something of a tunnel too. Most welcome as the day was really heating up now
Thanks for all the faves and comments, even for just taking the time to view my photo's, much appreciated.
If I give faves, then most of the time they are not given in a "blink of an eye", I like to look at details to see how much they enriched a photo and how they draw my attention, to everyone "keep up the great/nice/good-looking/wonderful work of photography".
