This is a breezy and liveable addition to a home in the North Austin Brentwood neighborhood.
A lofted living/work space with vaulted ceiling and north facing skylights mediates between the new flat roofed living space while at the same time creating a comfortable courtyard scheme.
Exterior lighting under the living volume soffit creates a festive almost boutique atmosphere for gatherings and celebrations.
The zinc clad living volume just peeks out over the existing bungalow and nestles rather nicely and efficiently against both the existing structure and the new flat roofed living volume.
The project was inspired by the classic work of the California Modernist WIlliam Wurster.

Valencia College’s Spring 2022 Commencement afternoon ceremony at Addition Financial Arena on May 8, 2022 in Orlando, Fla.
Our newest addition that wasn't really planned.
There is a local page on Facebook that helps reunite lost dogs with their owners or finds dogs homes. The owner had been looking for Duke a home on craigslist for months. He was going to be taken to the pound the day I saw the post about him at 4pm, and the pound said he would be put down imediatley being an owner surrender and since they were overcrowded. I saw the post at 2 something, and said I would foster him. He's approximately 6 months old, and I could see this little guy put to sleep when he just started his life. Awful. I grew really attached almost immediately and we decided to keep him (aka Jeremy let me keep him.) He was said to be a Corgi/Pit Bull mix, but I just don't see any pitbull in him. I think he's a Corgi/Beagle mix personally.

Not a great picture but, here you can see where I will be adding to the house.
The front of the house is oriented to the left hand side of the photo. The area with cross-hatching will be remodeled -- the game plan is to open the space to create a larger kitchen and small family room/sitting area. The areas with diagonal shading will be the additions. At the bottom of the picture is planned an addition which will be used as a library. And on the right hand side of the picture, which is the back of the house, a third bedroom with master suite will be added

Maybe Danbo can free him during the day
Around 200 Bunnies on Bikes gathered at Abernethy School in the Ladd's Addition on a lovely 70+ and Sunny Day! (Not bad for March!) This years ride was all about going round and round and getting lost in Ladd's Addition via rose gardens and alleys. The ride looped back to the school for more playing and picnicking.
The kids have figured out something enjoyable to do with the dirt piles. Don't worry grandparents! It may look dangerous with the huge hole behind, but this is actually two piles right next to eachother and there was no chance that they could fall in! :o) Better watch out for those two lumps of concrete though!
** ADDS THAT OUTER BLUE COVERING OF SUIT HAS BEEN REMOVED **University of North Dakota Space Studies graduate studen Fabio Sau tests out a experimental planetary space suit in the North Dakota Badlands near Fryburg, N.D., on Saturday, May 6, 2006. Sau is the guinea pig for an experimental Mars space suit that he and about 40 other students from five North Dakota schools developed under a $100,000 grant from NASA. The suit was formally unveiled Saturday in a craterlike area surrounded by buttes in the North Dakota Badlands, the highly eroded landscape that researchers say resembles Martian terrain. In this test the outer blue covering of the suit has been removed. (AP Photo/Will Kincaid)
