Before getting into the title, let me address the image. In addition to the Finchette on the left side of the feeder, we see here a couple of new additions, not necessarily to the yard but definitely to the camera. So, why not introduce them simultaneously in a sitting pose plainly showing the backside as well as a snazzy flight maneuver by, yes, some of you may have guessed, Pine Siskins. As you can see, they are a pretty colored bird with beaks that are more slender than that of a Finch. We used to have a couple of green ones coming around but no such luck this year yet. One more reason we are looking at this flight shot is that I have encountered some criticism regarding my yard management techniques. I want to make it clear that Levitation is not the only thing happening here, although and perhaps because of my dislike for rules (in spite of my German upbringing – nothing is Verboten here) Levitation is practiced a lot.

The reason I am bringing up the “Counting Flowers on the Wall and Inner Peace” in the title is that I simply neglected to mention a couple of things in my previous exposé on Inner Peace. Not only do I do a lot of bird watching (as you may have realized by now), there are other things such as counting ducks that I previously mentioned. Playing solitaire and watching TV have actually taking a back seat to my taking pictures. Smoking cigarettes is still high on the list. Some of you, however, posted such marvelous flower shots with such vivid colors that I now find myself Counting Flowers On The Wall. These, of course, only exist in my mind but are not any less vivid than the real thing.

Although I like the Statler Brothers (they did the original), this is a much snazzier version with way better sound. Addicted to the toe stomping, hand clapping beat.

My son & I experienced another big loss in our lives, after just losing my parents whom I took care of. We had to put down our beloved dog Sammy. She was 14 yrs old & died of old age.

This sweet half lab, half cattle dog fell into our laps pretty much. I'm friends with a foster mom for the rescue called Cold Nose Warm Heart Rescue. Max was available for pickup right after Easter! He is such a blessing & wonderful addition to our family!

This chunky, flying brick was a late-addition to the list of imperial shuttles. This particular boat has just ferried Minister Pol-Atumba to T'Rena for trade talks with The Empire. Unbeknownst to the Minister and her guards, she will not be leaving the meeting alive...

This boat is pretty heavily based on this piece. I made a few changes, most of which are pretty obvious. I made the wing tips fold and the cockpit more in line with the brutalist Imperial design language. The rear detailing is based on the lambda shuttle and the windows and guns are based on the zeta shuttle.

I wanted a nice imposing access ramp and I managed to fit two reasonable levels and a spacious cockpit. The main roof lifts off and the cockpit roof hinges up/is removable to see the upper deck. Sliding doors separate the cockpit from the main room and engine access is opposite. The upper deck's floor lifts off to reveal the lower deck/entryway and a ladder connects it all.

The internal structure here is the chonkiest I have ever made. It makes my 2020 SHIP look like a pile of leaves. I am very proud off all of the angles I managed to stick in here, although I do think the cockpit is a tad messy compared witht the rest of the build. All-in-all, I am confident that this boat would be able to support itself and then some irl.

In addition to the oddly-fluted, ex-SP cars used in the business car fleet, BNSF maintains a handful of other obscure bilevels at their Topeka, KS shops. In the background, their two ex-ATSF Hi-Level Snow Coaches lay over on the old roundhouse tracks, along with their power cars. In the foreground is BNSF 87, the Skagit River. The 87 is one of the manned Track Measurement cars, and it's another ex-SP commuter car.

Here, it was backing out of the Shops and onto the Main at 51, before heading east to KC with the 6842 on the point. However, it would have to wait for the arrival of the Lawrence Local before taking off.

A recent addition to the Cambidge Bus & Coach fleet is this Volvo B7TL, new as Arriva London LJ53 BBV.

In addition to the Monarchs we found yesterday, a few other butterflies were present, including this "dark morph" Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Both sexes of this species are normally yellow with black stripes, but sometimes the females are dark as seen here. From this underside view, there are two ways to differentiate it from the similar, but different species known as a Black Swallowtail. Though it's far more noticeable on the yellow ones, there are still hints of the dark "tiger stripes" even on a dark morph. That is usually most noticeable on the hindwing as seen here. Also, the body of this butterfly is solid black, and lacking the rows of pale yellow dots that are visible on a Black Swallowtail's body. I'll admit, the two species can be easy to mix up, especially if you're only seeing them in flight or from a distance. It helps when there are native flowers like this Wild Bergamot to entice them to pause for a photo. Ramsey County, MN 08/03/24

This was when Portland was a beautiful, vibrant city, not the shit hole it currently is.

After an 83-year run, Cameron's Books closed its doors on April 24, 2021. The story:

Vandalism and homelessness encroached on the neighborhood, in addition to the bookstore falling behind on rent during the COVID-19 shutdown.

Portland is a disgrace. What a terrible thing having a bunch of life-losers running the city the way they do.

This is my first go copying my old transparencies with the ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter.

In addition to the ever-popular Lotus that are in currently in bloom at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens there are thousands of native water lilies in several of the aquatic ponds.

Also there are a small number (dozens) of "fancy" tropical water lilies in the small pools around the visitor center.

For something a little different, I used Lightroom's masking tool to black out everything but the lily blossom itself.

In 1957, a small group of ex-service pilots pooled their money to purchase a P-51 Mustang, beginning what is now called the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). With the addition of a pair of F8F Bearcats, the CAF became the founders of the Warbird Movement, an effort to preserve and honor our military history with the rallying cry to “Keep ‘Em Flying!” Now, 55 years later, the CAF is the premier Warbird organization, operating 156 vintage aircraft in honor of American Military Aviation. A non-profit educational association, the CAF has approximately 9,000 members operating this fleet of historic aircraft, distributed to 70 units located in 28 states. The Douglas SBD Dauntless is one of only two actively flying examples of a naval dive bomber that was made by Douglas during World War II. SBD stands for Scout Bomber Douglas and was the main dive bomber used by the US Navy from mid-1940 until late 1943. At that time it was largely replaced by the SB2C Helldiver. SBD has also been lovingly known to mean “Slow But Deadly”, and yet although slow and outmoded when it began its combat career, it was a rugged and dependable machine and was accredited to sinking more Japanese ships than any other aircraft during World War II. The SBD was primarily produced at the Douglas plant at Tulsa, Oklahoma and was equipped with a 1,200 hp Wright R1820-60 single piston engine. This particular SBD was produced in 1939 and was primarily used as a Carrier-based Bomber.

This is the newest addition to my garden. I spotted this Gazania at our local nursery for $2 and decided on the spot that I had to have it. I love the colour of this one. This is taken with my 75-300 mm lens and the 36 mm Kenko macro extension tube.

2019 seems to have been a banner year for me...….many more additions than I intended, although in my defense several of them were bought in 2017/18 and just got their face ups in 2019. Several of them are also floating heads.

Lake Ellesmere

New addition to the print shop:

waihora-gallery.com/product/eel-traps-lake-ellesmere-te-w...

Lake Ellesmere / Te Waihora is located in the Canterbury Region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is actually a broad, shallow lagoon located directly to the west of Banks Peninsula, separated from the Pacific Ocean by a long narrow sandy spit called Kaitorete Spit, or more correctly Kaitorete Barrier.

In addition to fishing, locals grow vegetables and fruit in large gardens that float on the surface of the lake. The floating garden beds are formed by extensive manual labor. The farmers gather up lake-bottom weeds from the deeper parts of the lake, bring them back in boats and make them into floating beds in their garden areas, anchored by bamboo poles. These gardens rise and fall with changes in the water level, and so are resistant to flooding. The constant availability of nutrient-laden water results in these gardens being incredibly fertile.

The year in review............once again, I added more than I planned, but oh well.............I will do better in 2021, lol!

MCRY NW2 1001, the newest addition to the museum, sits in North Freedom, WI. Thanks to the friendly volunteer who showed us this nice looking new addition to the museum.

Hooch is the most recent addition to our family. We rescued him from a kill shelter here in NJ. He is about 6-years old and golden through and through.

Folks, a word of advice, if your dog (and not just Goldens) doesn't fit into your life style any longer and you need to get rid of him or her please, please, please DO NOT drop them off at a kill shelter. You have two other options, find a shelter that does not kill your dog if no one else wants them or contact one of the hundreds of dog rescue organizations in the country. They will most certainly find a "forever" home for the dog that you used to love. And do us all a favor and before you decide to get another pet make damn certain that you have 10-20 years to dedicate to loving and caring for it.

SN/NC: Dahlia, Syn. Dahlia Pinnata, Asteraceae Family

Dahlia (UK: /deɪliə/ or US: /dɑːliə/) is a genus of bushy, tuberous, herbaceous perennial plants native to Mexico. A member of the Asteraceae, dicotyledonous plants, related species include the sunflower, daisy, chrysanthemum, and zinnia. There are 42 species of dahlia, with hybrids commonly grown as garden plants. Flower forms are variable, with one head per stem; these can be as small as 5 cm (2 in) diameter or up to 30 cm (1 ft) ("dinner plate"). This great variety results from dahlias being octoploids—that is, they have eight sets of homologous chromosomes, whereas most plants have only two. In addition, dahlias also contain many transposons—genetic pieces that move from place to place upon an allele—which contributes to their manifesting such great diversity.

Dahlia(英国: /deɪliə /またはus: /dgrliə /)は、メキシコに自生したふさふさした、塊状の草本多年生植物の属です。
