Loads of pressurized gasoline and propane gas are blown-up around the base of "the man" at the end of the Burning Man Festival. They use a controlled BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion).
Can't we burn that "man" thing without blowing up that much fossil fuel? This is not environmentally friendly at all. It's just a big orchestrated pyrotechnic show like those you see at Disney World or Hollywood. We don't need that. Am I the only one to feel that way?
By the way, I was in the crowd with everyone else when I took this photo, I did not have an "Inner Circle Pass" this year. Camera was handheld, no tripod.

The Walking Pod, by Scott Parenteau
The mighty 12-legged walking machine weighs 1800 pounds. Requiring only 800 watts of power to run with a top speed 0.2 miles per hour, the mutant vehicle is powered by two 12 volt batteries hooked up to an inverter, two speed controllers and two washing machine electric motors.

Rusted steam engine - Santa Rosalia (Baja California, Mexico)
In 1885 the french mining company "la Compagnie du Boleo" obtained the rights to the copper mining concession of Santa Rosalia from the Mexican government for 99 years.
In 1954 the mines were closed until the Mexican Federal government took over. At the end of the concession the mining operation ceased completely and the mines and large steam-powered smelter plant were abandoned. This narrow-gauge steam engine is rusting near the smelter that you can see in the background, on the left.
I recommend visiting the immense smelter (abandoned and open access at your own risks), and if you are a bit more adventurous, the old mine tunnels in the hill.

As you can see, each SHARK is about as large as the oblivious swimmers, frolicking in the water. Daredevils or just madly blindly in love, who knows.

Bicycle decorated with LED lights.
This is Eric Severn's big blinky 36" bicycle.
LED lights seem to have supplanted el-wire on the playa, now that very bright ribbons of color-morphing LEDs (with a controller) have become widely available and relatively cheap. Those LED ribbons are much brighter than el-wire.

That's me, juggling with three kittens in a hostel in Borneo.
Not very different from juggling with balls.
The trick is to keep the kittens from spinning around, as this makes them a bit upset.
I don't recommend that you start your first juggling lesson with kittens. it's better to practice first with non-living objects, like balls, rocks, fruits etc. Then, once you can juggle well without dropping anything, you can start with kittens. And once you get good with kittens, you can juggle babies :)
Disclaimer: No kitten was hurt during the making of this photo. But I got a few scratches!

Medusa Madness, by Kevin Clark
Medusa's face was made of mirrored stainless steel and standing 14' tall by 11' wide. The 25 snakes protruding from Medusa's head reached a height of 27' and a distance of approximately 60'.

Audrey is looking for bits of quarts in the Man's ashes. There were quartz crystals in the Man/s head, and they survived the fire and ended up in the pile of ashes after the burn.

Pamukkale hot springs travertine pools (Turkey)
Most of the travertine terraces are now in a pretty bad shape due to mass tourism and there is no way to take a good photo from the official perimeter. I had to go a long way around the springs area (out of the perimeter) and hike my way up to the springs from the fields below it in order to get this photo.

Big Red Robot aka Becoming Human, by Christian Ristow
Becoming Human is a 30-foot tall sculpture of a robot, which occasionally smells the flower in its right hand. The sculpture hopes to inspire viewers to ask questions about interplay between technology and nature, the rapid humanizing of robots, and the value of slowing down to appreciate little things.
The sculpture was previously featured at the Coachella 2014 festival. It was inspired by robot drawings Christian had done for his young son, and by the children's book "The Story of Ferdinand" in which a bull would rather smell flowers than fight.
