Puppy in a cage on the market (Cao Bằng, Vietnam)
The nearby market shop was selling dog meat (a delicacy in Vietnam). Therefore I think those puppies are probably destined to become "food dogs", not pets, i.e. they are bought as pet, then bred into adult dogs and eventually eaten as meat once they are adult (e.g. just like piglets).
I did not include the photos of dog meat shops in my Vietnam Set, but you can see them in my photo-documentary about eating dog meat for dinner that I also took in Vietnam: "Thịt chó" means eating a (hot) dog - literally. But be advised that those are very GRAPHIC photos and not advised for children.
This photo is part of a series called Thịt chó: eating a (hot) dog. A lots of interesting comments and reactions have been posted on the various photo sites where this series has been published.

BYOBW - "Bring Your Own Big Wheel" race (San Francisco).
This is a free and unauthorized event. People race with Big Wheel toy tricycles and other non-motorized vehicles down the steep and curvy segment of Vermont Street in Potrero Hill. The racers reach dangerous speed and frequently crash. This race used to take place on the famous curvy segment of Lombard St, but because some of the Lombard St residents did not like the event and asked the police to shut it down, in 2009 they moved the BYOBW race to Vermont St where the neighbors have a more positive attitude.

Chanthi Dobar Bridge - Construction of a suspension bridge over the Bhagirathi River (India)
Since the construction of the Tehri Dam, the old bridge is now submerged by the Tehri reservoir that floods the Bhagirathi valley.
The Tehri Dam was (and still is) a very controversial project, as it flooded two valleys resulting in the destruction of numerous villages and a town (Tehri), all now submerged, and forced the relocation of about 100,000 people.

This is the machine that creates the giant smoke rings!
I believe that it throws a large amount of fuel (probably gasoline) that is ignited in the air.
The fuel is propelled using compressed natural gas, and the fuel is ignited just when it exits the vertical pipe (using a propane torch).
The burning fuel creates a vortex, making a large black smoke ring in the sky.

This is a Hindu offering ceremony to Lord Shiva, performed by members of a large Ashram at the Kumbh Mela festival.
Thousands of Hindu devotees each made hundreds of small lingams with soft clay, each lingam having three small white eyes. Then they all walked in a procession from the Ashram toward the nearby Ganges river, carrying trays on their heads, with all the small clay lingams on the trays. All the lingams were then thrown in the Ganges river, as an offering to Lord Shiva.
