Each old, unused barn tells a story to those who take the time to observe and listen. At some point a farmer went to the extra expense of adding on a better milk shed to this barn that had served him for a long time. Footings were dug, concrete poured and the small building was built to fulfill the farmer's plans for the future. Former farm sites now are littered with debris from old barns, sheds and houses and along with them, a lifestyle that served families and our country well.
The recent history of Riaño is marked by the traumatic construction of the reservoir that bears its name, for which, destroyed, and subsequently flooded, the original town, the ancient Riaño.
The process of construction of the swamp gave rise to numerous popular mobilizations; Clashes with the forces of order; And even suicides, before the eviction of each one of the houses for its later demolition on the part of the machinery of the State. It was carried out for the demolition of houses by the government, the military occupation of the towns of the region for several months, thus effecting the eviction by force of the neighbors who refused to abandon them.
A final fact worthy of mention, which is added to the management carried out in the process of destruction of the valleys of the Leon region, was the fact that the closure of the dam of Riaño occurred on the date of December 31 Of 1987; When the legal circumstance was known, that from 1 January 1988 a new European directive was in force which prohibited the construction of reservoirs such as Riaño for environmental reasons; Directive relating to the protection of valleys and high mountain villages in the territories of the European Community.
BR&W 60 crosses the Third Neshanic River en route back to Ringoes. I was expecting a diesel, so seeing #60 here instead was a nice little surprise.
This is a shot from a cool damp morning last week I was not expecting these guys to be out but they were all together
Sometimes when you see an image of a structure it is quite hard to understand the immense size of certain structures or landscape features; the height of the Old Man of Storr surprised me when I took a hike there recently - the rock is huge. I like the way in which the figure here lends the 'Old Man' a bit of scale.
I had to use a long lens to get close to the action - I like the way this image looks.
Added a Canon EF 400mm F5.6 prime to my lens collection.. First trial photo's this arvo, seems to perform very well.

Glen Brittle is such a fabulous place to visit. For next time I will start at least an hour earlier to be able to find the optimum place to shoot from. Before this visit I had no idea where to go and when to be at a certain place. I now have some more knowledge and would start 1-2 hours earlier at the site to make sure I'd be in the right spot at the right time. This is a place I stopped at on my descent when the sun was already way up on the sky. Next time I would try to be here just at sun rise. For tomorrow I'll have a sunrise shot from a bit above this location.

...and hopefully the last one and only.
Good morning everyone. I know, just what you wanted to see...another posting of another one and only pic from this past season. Sorry about that.
Even worse, it's not the best pic you'll ever see of a Cloudless Sulphur (Phoebis sennae), but it's the only one I could get this year. I saw about 3 to 4 of these in total, but except for this one the rest were on wing. After following this one around it finally landed to nectar on Jewelweed, but unfortunately it wasn't in the best of spots. Down very low in shady weeds with a lot of surrounding clutter.
Normally I wouldn't post a pic like this, but since it's the only one I could get of a Cloudless Sulphur, I wanted to add it to my 2015 butterfly set here on flickr so it'll be included in the list of butterflies photographed this year.
To make up for this bad photo I included a better one of a Cloudless Sulphur taken in 2013. It was the last year we had a good influx of these butterflies. Actually, 2013 was the best year I can ever recall for this species of butterfly here locally, of which we rely on migrants from down south. It's also a female and it's also nectaring on Jewelweed.
As always, don't forget to click on "view previous comments" if you don't see the additional photo in the comment section. Even better, scroll to it by clicking on the arrow thingy to the right of the above pic. And if you want to view the pic in the comment section large all you have to do is click on it where you'll also find the full text describing this species of butterfly.
Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you're having a truly nice week.
