Quite simply I find woodland photography the most complicated compositionally… especially then I favour simplicity, order and balance in my landscapes! I spent ages getting this just about as balanced as I could!
I thought id add some green back onto my photostream as its not been about for a week or so!

Posters, Parchment & a Little Impropriety
I had only meant to wander through the old arts quarter before sunset.
It was the sort of place where every brick wall seemed to remember something—a forgotten performance, a traveling circus, a dance that lasted until morning. Weathered posters climbed the iron kiosk behind me, bicycles rested beneath the shadows, and a narrow passageway disappeared between the buildings as though it were keeping a particularly delicious secret.
Then I noticed my portrait hanging from the wall.
There I was, rendered in delicate pencil upon parchment, surrounded by tiny studies of lace, denim and feminine curves. It felt wonderfully mischievous—like discovering that someone had quietly documented the outfit I had chosen for an otherwise innocent afternoon walk.
And Southern Charm by small is not nearly as innocent as its name suggests.
The pale blue denim shapes the body with corseted precision, following every curve before dipping into a beautifully daring lace-trimmed neckline. A slender tie rests at the waist, adding just enough sweetness to soften the unapologetically feminine silhouette.
At the hem, the white lace becomes the real seduction.
Its floral pattern falls across the thighs in a delicate scalloped border, giving the short denim skirt the softness of vintage lingerie. The contrast is irresistible—structured denim meeting intricate lace, country romance meeting city confidence, sweetness meeting just the right amount of trouble.
I paused beneath the faded advertisements and let the afternoon light find every detail.
For a moment, the old posters, iron stairways and narrow cobbled passage seemed to become my private runway. People hurried past the corner without noticing the little story unfolding there.
But I noticed.
And sometimes that is all a woman needs.

Taking photos at -35C is always a challenge (both for the photographer and the equipment), but making time-lapses adds to the difficulty to have the equipment working for 4 to 5 hours straight in the frigid cold. The first record of a mill at Worsbrough was in the Domesday book of 1086, although the exact location of the mill along the River Dove is unknown. The oldest part of the mill standing today dates from about 1625 and forms the two storey stone building known as the Old Mill, which houses the waterwheel. Before the Mill House was built in the mid 18th century the miller and his family would have lived in the mill itself. There are large fireplaces on both the ground and first floors and the lintel over the fireplace on the first floor is inscribed with several dates and initials of the millers.
The Old Mill was probably modernised in the early 1820’s to improve its output, and in the 1840’s the New Mill was built next door. The machinery in the New Mill was powered by a steam engine and a third floor, where grain could be stored in bulk, was added.
Trade for corn and flour began to drop off towards the end of the 19th century as cheap imported wheat came in from abroad.
Jet lagged, I woke up early, and started an hike before sunrise up the mountain from my hometown Schuders, located in the Swiss Alps near the Austrian border. I reached the top of the mountain ridge shortly after sunrise.
I processed a realistic, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

All the seasonal feels are present in Northeast Mississippi - of all places - in the week leading up to Christmas. 4 geeps of various flavors power this southbound monster out of Corinth. The West Tennessee RR has added a healthy cut of hoppers to the normally large Artesia Sub turn. This Wednesday version of the turn has just finished working the north end of Booneville and is passing the former depot in town. Holiday lights adorn the main overpass in downtown as the big celebration is only 5 more days away. It seemed like every town had their own flavor of how to celebrate Christmas, and surprisingly made me feel in touch with the season. Simple light displays, to full on corporate Coca-Cola backed productions in Corinth - everyone had a little bit of something to remind your December 25th was quickly approaching.
