Imagine my surprise when this popped up on my Caller ID Machine. How could I not answer it.

The Machine was right.

Kenney's was a regional chain spun off of Biff-Burger. They primarily sold burgers dipped in a special sauce and fried chicken (a favorite of mine growing up). They were dominant in Southwest Virginia in the '60s and '70s, but were out of business as a chain by 1982, though some locations held on much longer, like this one.

This store was built either in the late '70s or early '80s and was among the last built by the chain.

I just wanted to show these to anyone who hasn't seen this kind of tree before.

The real name is "Yellow Poplar" or "Tulip Poplar" and though there used to be giants of this species in the forests east of the Mississippi in the USA and up through Ontario, Canada, the giants were cut by the early European settlers for their soft wood.

They were introduced into Europe by the early European settlers, and also to the west coast of the USA.

Love the range of colors in this line! The light up gimmick is actually really cute, especially with the HoloSpex glasses on. Jade's lights are blinding though x) I love that MGA painted the details on their shoes too. I'll probably do another pic of their shoes :P

Actually, we had to take Ruby to the dentist for an emergency apppointment, because of this apple. She'd no sooner taken a bite when some skin got wedged between her teeth and under her gum, and we couldn't get it out. The dentist took one look, said "Easy peasy," and removed it in a nano-second. Then it was back to the photo session! (This is my first attempt shooting through an umbrella. Seems to help the whole focus thang.) For the Ice Box folk - not a texture in sight - although there is a textured version of this in my stream. You have been warned.
