Actually they quite like him in King's Lynn. Over a decade before the Magna Carta, John granted Lynn a charter which allowed the guilds of the town to plan for the future. From 1204 to Georgian times King's Lynn was Britain's busiest port in its richest county. It was also a part of the Hansa League. Since then, decline has been steep with very little port activity remaining. There are however some splendid historic buildings from this extended period of wealth still standing and worth a visit. Actually, this squirrel was running around like a maniac, and this 1 moment of him standing still didn't last too long! hehe. I think it's mating season right now, and the squirrels are chasing each other around like crazy. They have more energy and exuberance than the Olympians do!
Actually I want to thank everyone who has visited my stream over the past ten months that I have been a flicrk addict. I was watching to see when my counter would hit the 25K mark and now I see it's surpassed that mark.
Each and everyone of you have allowed me to "develop" (no pun intended LOL) my skills in photography just that little bit more so photos of her will be more than just a snapshot that I took.
To those of you who have mentored me and to those who gave me some excellent photography advice and even criticism (and you know who you are) I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I just hope that I will continue to improve my skills for the next 25,000 views.

On the photo, as you can see if you have been following the water park story, she did finally get wet, but I will post more leading up to this point (I know you all be sick of seeing them but who cares LOL).

These two nebulas are located on the Orion Constellation, and form the "sword" underneath Orion's "belt". The M42 Nebula (on the right) is about 1300 light years away, and is a massive star and solar-system forming gas cloud. The "Running Man" nebula on the left is around 1600 light years away.

Actually, I don't think Vidalia even remotely cares whether she rules the roost. She's too busy loving on everyone and anyone. Even slobbery walking furbags. Such a blissful, happy existence she lives. Nothing nearly as stressful as enforcing the law of the land. . . er, attempting to enforce the law. I'm afraid the peons tend to revolt in her domain. Any sympathy for HRH?

Yes, the Goodyear Blimp actually flies by our house! I catch it several times per year, but it's rarely RIGHT over our house, as in this case. How far away is it? Maybe a half mile, but it's hard to tell because it's difficult to triangulate its position. When I see it, I race into my room, snatch my camera, feverishly mount it on the tripod, and fire off a few quick pictures. Several years ago, the blimp did fly right over the house, but I was not able to get any photos of it. One day, I hope, I will.

The Goodyear Company has three blimps (non-rigid airship), and one of these, the Spirit of Goodyear, is stationed in Akron, where the Goodyear Company has a large tire factory. You can distinguish the SoG by the yellow stripe under the "Good Year" lettering. The GZ-20 class blimps are 58 m long, 18 m tall, and 15 m wide. That's 192 x 59.5 x 50 ft.
What's really cool is that Goodyear is retiring these by 2014, when they will be replaced by real zeppelins (rigid airships, with a frame for the buoyant gas), I think about 240 feet long. These elegant airships once plied the skies in the first third of the twentieth century. They were efficient, but more primitive materials science and a lack of satellite imagery to aid meteorology hampered the utility of this technology. The British R-101 dirigible, and America's two largest airships, the USS Macon and Akron (785 ft long), crashed because of inclement weather conditions. (America has violent weather!) We wouldn't sell the Nazis helium (they had no supply of it on German soil, but we got it from our natural gas wells), so they used explosive hydrogen. The Hindenburg, the largest zeppelin along with the Graf Zeppelin II, was, get this, 804 feet long. That means it was 60-70 TIMES the volume of this blimp. It ignited at Lakehurst, New Jersey, where it docked after a transatlantic flight.
I loved reading about these dirigibles as a kid, but my father can outdo me easily. He used to WATCH the Hindenburg float near the farm he grew up on, not far from Lakehurst, NJ. From several miles away, he said it still looked huge.
The fins and the overall design of a blimp or zeppelin can utilize Bernoulli's principle to give the blimp a little lift like one sees for the wings of an airplane. This only occurs, though, once the blimp is moving forward. However, by far the main reason that the blimp floats is because it is lighter than air. The addition of lighter-than-air helium renders the overall blimp slightly less dense than the surrounding air. Therefore, the weight of air the blimp displaces is more than the weight of the blimp. In this case, the buoyant force on the blimp is greater than the gravity force on the blimp, and it rises. That's Archimedes' Principle.

... Actually I don't have my information on this story yet. I'll be working on it tomorrow, but I can tell you this much.
The body guard is female, very small, believed to be no taller than 4' 8" and no one will even attempt to guess her weight. She speaks a very methodical English almost devoid of accent and what little accent is there is not identifiable. She is trained in the martial arts of all disciplines and can kill a person with a ball point pen from across a large room.
Her name is Loretta and she refuses to carry a weapon of any kind. She believes her Karma will always provide a weapon wherever she is. The McWhorters will trust no other person with their lives.
The McWhorter twins are very strange birds indeed. They hever finished high school, but they direct a team of chemists in the development of new drugs to treat all manner of disease.
As our story begins, we learn two of their younger chemists have discovered a unique enzyme which is only now developing rapidly in the digestive track of the common jelly fish. They believe the polluted seas are causing the mutation of enzymes, but more importantly they believe the chemical makeup of this new enzyme will be a leading treatment for cancer and in most cases will eliminate the need for chemotherapy and radiation.
As I find out more about what's going on I'll keep you informed. I do know the McWhorters have purchased the harvesting right for all jellyfish within the territorial waters of eighteen nations with large coastlines.
There is one group which doesn't want this new enzyme developed and they are .....
Actually quite comfortable, and usually very pleasant, except during rush hour, where it can easily become crowded and noisy due to how easy it is to get into the lounge.
This may sound elitist, but there's nothing more annoying than kids running around the lounge when you're spending time before your flight preparing presentations or fixing last-minute bugs.
Actually there is a fence here, but this past summer apparently growing conditions were optimal, and the vines pretty much took over the side of this fence. Anyway that's not why I took this photo, it's because of the depth of the fall color, the result of a high concentration of pigmented chemicals termed anthocyanins. This pigment will, given suitable density, together with almost total displacement of leafy green chlorophyll, at high enough concentrations, make a leaf very close to purple. This shot illustrates that phenomenon pretty well. Another thing I like is the fact that these leaves are pretty much the same size as those of a maple tree, and I'm afforded the luxury of seeing them in their prime before they weather, fade a bit, and hit the ground. Obviously the only way that one likely could photograph leaves of fall for a maple tree in all their grandeur and magnificence, is to climb up the tree or use a cherry picker or a tall ladder. You need the perspective looking down, not up. Of course a fall treescape where the colors are extreme, is sublime, but it represents a coelescence of a myriad of colors, patterns, and textures into a blend. And although that is beautiful from a distance, the closeup macro of these leaves is hugely more intriguing to me. Enjoy, and happy fall!

Note the slightly more than half curl, indicating the age of this boy in early morning backlight. (And he is still chewing on his piece of straw ; ) Ovis canadensis
