Actually, the image was taken in late fall, but the colors still scream summer to me!

Actually, I was privileged to spend a few hours through the late spring with this little Burrowing Owl and her mate. I'm pretty sure this is indeed the female as they tend to have darker faces from being uh well underground taking care of the eggs and, later, family.

I'm actually really proud of this. it's not like anything else on my stream and I had a lot of fun creating it. I also feel like a have some sort of emotional connection with this. just one of the many beauties of photography.

this is inspired by two of my favorite girls on flickr, Sarah and Sam <3 I was also moved by this lovely picture of Melanie's today, who happens to be starting another 365!

I actually finished this build around the beginning of June, but haven't gotten around to posting it until now. This was just a build for fun to mess around with the dark blue/white colorscheme and to finally do something for Kaliphlin over in Guilds of Historica again. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, though unfortunately the pictures are rather poor.

Located on the Eastern outskirts of Katoren, this monastery survived the Kaliphlin civil war better than most. A natural spring was the reason for the monastery's location, and the spring continues to provide fresh water for all the inhabitants, as well as make the surrounding area very lush compared to much of the Kaliphlin landscape.

More pictures.

Actually it's grey and wet outside but this dress is so bright and yellow it's almost guaranteed to make any day feel like it's a Sun-Shiny day..!!

Have a Bright and Beautiful weekend my dear friends, followers and viewers..😘💋

Actually it's out-of-date golden syrup that I found in the back of the cupboard.

It didn't quite work as I envisaged but it'll do for today.

'x' = Still Life

Actually he was chasing sparrows through the lemon tree. He's brave, that tree has BIG needles on it.

Actually, it's still the USC med school. I was helping out at a different part of the campus. It wasn't hard, but all of us who worked those four hours got a free lunch out of it as well.

This tree was to my right. I don't know if I had photographed it before, but if I had it was during the fall of many years before. Now it was showing its spring glory. And it was (finally!) a clear, warm day as well.

Actually called "Miro's Chicago."

Actually, there just not getting along.

Actually bought this dress for a date that didn’t happen, but the fun of looking for an outfit to impress was a thrill…

Actually there is, but this is the tip of the peninsula on which I live, at the end of the lone primary road and fronting the big lake on the west side. The "big" lake is just that...about 3300 sq. acres as opposed to my 75. As a result it is heavily populated by both residences and resorts, has many public access landings, and is relatively unrestricted as to use...i.e., motor size, jet skis, water skiing, snowmobiles, sea planes, etc. A different situation altogether from my cozy and highly restricted private little water.

[This is the first time I've ever put a frame on an image, but something about this one seemed to call for it. Unframed below for your comparison...]

actually I only wanted to show both of the palmtrees, but I thought it would be a little boring to only shoot them....so I made this small vignette. I like the look of the small one more, but it is more unstable (they're both pretty unstable). Wich one do you guys/girls like more?

Actually there are still three, but one has already left the tree. These two have left the nest and have "branched". Soon they will join dad and mom in the forest.

Bison Paddock, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA.

They are flowers from another mother

But still two of a kind

They share the same energy

They are soulmates

They just know that

They have known each other forever

Infinity is the correct word

They are waiting

Longing

Aren't close in distance

Actually it's an ocean in between them

How is that possible

My photo is still a dream

A fantasy

A dog and a couple

So where is the Captain of my heart

Let me guess

Could it be so far as Montreal

Or am I now only dreaming

Flirting

Well, I'm a flirter

This image is quite romantic tho

I guess I'm in love

Yes

In love with life

And of course in love with you

And who might that one be

It's a puzzle isn't it 😊

Actually departing on time for once, and the first time it's been a cloudy afternoon for weeks, sees 8037, 8044 and 1101 passing through Bargo with a longer 6SM7 to Melbourne.

Actually - no, it's a circular pool of water containing jellyfish at the Oregon Coast Aquarium but it caught my eye with that magical coloring.

Actually the material of the dress is not made for outdoor activities....

Actually, this is a greeting between a mating pair of Bald Eagles after the male joins the female on her branch. Since Bald Eagles mate for life, I can only assume that the conversation was something like... I came to see how your day is going, how is the fishing?

Give me warp speed, Mr. Sulu!

This image was taken last night (Sunday AM) after going out to Mt. Rainier for round #2 of milking the Milky Way. I was dead beat tired but a cup of French roast coffee, one Starbuck's doublshot, and one 5 hour energy drink was not only enough to make me want to puke but also keep me going through the night. Lots of people on the mountain last night.

So, to the shot...

This is a composite of two different shots. One normal shot with the usual exposure settings and another shot where I gently rotate the aperture ring from 14 to 24 and back to 14 again over the course of 25 seconds or so. It takes the steady hand of a Terminator model T-2000 to not shake the camera body. The aforementioned cocktail of stimulants did not help matters. :) Mt. Rainier looms off to the right behind the trees. I actually decided to try this effect on the way out, otherwise I would have done it from my usual vantage point showing all of Rainier. There's always next weekend. The lights you see going up the mountain are from the headlamps of climbers ascending to the summit. I counted at least a dozen on either side.

Actually took this with my iPhone while hovering it over the eyepiece of a telescope!! Really surprised it came out like this!!

Matt actually drove us around on JJ's birthday last week, and after our lunch we went to Queen Elizabeth Park. Being Good Friday, the roads were very busy, but we managed to find a parking space here - Matt parked right next to this beautiful VW!

Actually, this is a line of small LED’s on two thin wires, pushed into a bottle. There is just one LED and the power switch outside to the left.

Feel free to leave comments and constructive feedback. No P1/C1 or seen in group and similar.

Actually I went to shoot timelapse with stars, but the weather offered me just clouds and lightning.

Shoot Cambodia with otaphototours. :-)

The Devil’s Bathtub is a fascinating piece of streambed. It consists of a unique tiered waterfall located between the Upper Falls and Old Man’s Cave. The tub is situated in a weak layer of Blackhand sandstone and is constantly being enlarged by the swirling action of Old Man’s Creek. The upper part of the falls drops into a deep, bowl-shaped basin, forming a captivating whirlpool before dropping again into the large pool below. Whether you’re a Hocking Hills local or are just passing through, the Devil’s Bathtub is truly a sight to behold.

Fun Fact: While legend has it that the pool extends deep into the depths of Hades, it’s actually only a few feet deep!

Actually it was more like “stubbornness test”. - Στην πραγματικότητα ήταν περισσότερο «δοκιμασία ξεροκεφαλιάς». :)

Actually this guy was not moving a hair, there was a hawk that flew into the yard and the Blue Jay's let everyone know about the intruder and all the squirrels froze in place til the danger passed!

Well, actually I am. But, that's beside the point. I had planned to lay on my side, with a stabby look on my face, but the outtakes of me climbing up and down from the hard floor looked more interesting.

ETA: Never trust a woman with bare legs and shiny black boots: They're dangerous. Of course, the foil should have been a giveaway -- but I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box.

Strobist: 43" reflective umbrella high, above camera. 43" reflective umbrella low, behind subjects left. 4' x 6' silver reflector behind subject right. All strobes triggered wirelessly. (I've been getting a lot of mileage out of this setup.

actually i will be checking in when i can glom my daughters computer! probably sometime Monday....so behave yourselves!! ;-D

PS...Happy Zen Friday!

Anatol Herzfeld, actually Karl-Heinz Herzfeld (1931 - 2019), was a German sculptor.

A student of Joseph Beuys, he primarily used wood, iron and stone as materials.

Anatol lived and worked on the Museum Insel Hombroich. His monumental sculptures were presented at the documenta in Kassel several times, and at the Nationalgalerie in Berlin, among others.

Museum Insel Hombroich in Holzheim near Neuss is a museum park with the motto "art parallel to nature" (German: Kunst parallel zur Natur).

The museum was founded by the real estate agent and art collector Karl-Heinrich Müller from Düsseldorf. When he had found a suitable location, he set up a foundation called Stiftung Insel Hombroich, with the aim of presenting his art collection in various pavilions in dialogue with the surrounding nature.

Actually, two lenses. I had cataract surgery on one eye in September and the second eye in October. Not being able to dive/snorkel for 4 months was not fun!

This was actually first set of pictures taken on this Saturday trip. Yes, I must say set as this is another HDR with 6 images. Not the easy one as while shooting and processing I had fight with lens flares – beauty of shooting into the light. Sky was still cloudy and worked out this way. I have used one of the techniques that Trey Ratcliff ( Stuck in Customs ) was talking in a podcast.

www.prophotoshow.net/blog/2009/04/14/pro-photography-podc...

This is not shot podcast , it's over an hour. Photomatix as a premier HDR software has problems with daytime sky. This was really showing where the sum was. I used one of underexposed ( I think -3 ) and dogged the that section of the image from HDR . Please let me know what you think – you critique is always welcomed.

I wish you all great week !

( PS , I could shoot so much more and maybe get descent at it … but the job … that thing that helps getting the toys , take so much time away from playing with them )

Below is the image #4 of 6 more less “0” exposure – the reason why I love HDR. It let you look not what you see but what it could be …. much more fun , more creative. Are we photographers or maybe we are visual artists … I don't think that anyone should be force to choose.

Actually, he did not have a choice. Pictures with Grandma are a requirement. But she did have to poke him to get a smile.

Actually, there was no flame.

Actually, I wanted to take care of the three pictures, which I had taken in Kiel while the past days, but then I read an article on the light room facebook page. So I digged into my archive and tried out this kind of processing.

I actually got the chance to escape for a few hours last night. It was a spur of the moment thing so no outfit planning took place hence the grab what was close to hand look.

Well the weather was a little unpredictable so sensible was the order of the day.

So what did I do? I headed out to see Alice via a shop to see what they had. not much!

After a natter and a cuppa with Alice I set of home via yet another shop this time it had some nice stuff but I was really taken with a brighter than bright yellow jumper that I really should have bought but didn't.

"Right. We need to actually go somewhere in this van before it takes root in the garden. Tomorrow we're taking her out for a drive."

I'd stated my case. I'm not sure I've ever seen Ali looking quite so contented as she has over the last few weeks since Brenda, a fourteen year old converted Renault Master van came into our world. While I grumpily traipse off to work each morning (although there are only 42 such mornings left in my life now), she steadily and patiently transforms Brenda's previously dark and gloomy interior into a bright space that greets the visitor with a cheery white welcome. I'm forever finding her on YouTube looking at other people's conversions for space saving innovations and interior furnishings. Even on her very significant birthday this week she turned down the offer of a swanky hotel lunch from her sister because she wanted to finish painting the cupboards. She's got a project and she's happy. I'm allowed to wash and polish Brenda, drive her, pay for her to be kept roadworthy and not much else. Oh yes and I was allowed to pay for the purchase of her too. I feel privileged to be involved, albeit in a rather prosaic manner.

But the downside of all of this up cycling business is that the fact she looks like an artist's workshop, full of half empty paint tins and brushes and goodness knows what else has meant that taking her for a spin hasn't really been on the agenda just yet. Add to that, she seems to me an awfully big van. It's going to need some more practice before I can refine the seventy-three point turn required to set her in the right direction without knocking the front porch down. Helpfully she's got a reversing camera, but it's still a whole new world for me. Until last year my only vehicle was a tiny city car barely larger than a skateboard.

So last weekend, after an eventful period of attempting to jump start her we were off on a mini adventure. Ten minutes later we were home again - we'd forgotten our masks in all of the excitement. It meant turning right at the end of our lane twice in quick succession, a hair raising experience designed to terrify even the most seasoned HGV drivers in the land. An uneventful while later we arrived at Ladock Wood. I was confident the large car park wouldn't be chock full and I could park quietly without drawing attention to myself or maiming anyone else's vehicle in the process. We tried not to look too smug as we sipped our tea and hunkered down on those lunchtime veggie sausage sandwiches - made right there by our very own hands on the two burner gas hob. What a liberating experience that is. And then for a while we wandered through the eerie silence of Ladock Wood, coming to rest in this peaceful sheltered glade. Here we could feel the warm sun stream through the canopy as we idly lost ourselves in talk of future adventures that might take us further than the twenty odd miles that had brought us here. I'd stumbled across this far flung corner of the woods in May - there will be a more rewarding image from here in the autumn with a bit of luck. I have the composition - I just need the light and the russets and golds that the next season will bring.

And then we pushed onto Newquay. There's another story to tell here, and it involves tourists, errant Herring Gulls, celebrity chefs and eye watering prices - not for the first time in this feed. It's difficult to avoid them in Cornwall. Difficult to avoid campervans too for that matter - you could sense some people looking nervously at us, wondering whether we were going to park on their doorsteps for a fortnight and put Black Sabbath on the iPod at full volume each night before leaving the place knee deep in detritus as a parting gift. Now there's an idea.

What I'm looking forward most of all though, is taking Brenda down to the big field at Godrevy on a Tuesday afternoon in October when everyone else is at work, where we can make our lunch and sit and watch the colours change over the sea. I've got a feeling we'll be doing that a lot when the big adventure starts.

About to head off grid for a few days soon. No signal, no WiFi, no electricity. Have a great weekend everyone.

Well actually a very high spec mock-up of one of the new Stadler Class 777 EMU's being built for the Liverpool City Region suburban rail network Merseyrail. Seen here in Birkenhead at the Pacific Road Building for public inspection and comment. It will soon on on display at Liverpool Lime Street Station.
