The Palace of the Counts is a palace in revivalist style , installed in a small cove. During the high tide, the building's base is touched by the waves. His style combines the romanticism - in vogue at the time - with an appearance of château medieval , culminating in the great tower.
It was built in the nineteenth century by Jorge O'Neill , nephew of the 1st Viscount of Santa Monica and a descendant of the Counts of Clanaboy and Princes Tyrone , Kings of Ulster and sometimes High Kings of Ireland.
The building has Irish origin of elements, such as clovers present in wrought iron door and painting the ceiling of the Hall of Clovers, the museum's entrance hall, and the coat of arms of Jorge O'Neill and his ancestors, painted the turret roof.
