A new law enacted a few months ago repealed the ban on the manufacture and sale of absinthe in the United States. Taking advantage of this, a local distillery -- the same one that makes the award-winning Hangar One Vodka -- began immediately producing a very traditional style of absinthe. It's been very hard to find since they're making it in small batches, and people have been snapping it up. But we recently found some bottle on sale in our local high-end boozateria. Yay!

We were taught a rather elaborate method of drinking these, involving a packet of sugar, fire and a straw.
