It was here in this French Quarter bar that my wife and I became engaged, in May 2013. At 03.15. Not drinking absinthe, but green chartreuse.
At the Olde Absinthe House in Pirate Alley. I didn't like the absinthe that much (too much licorice flavor) but Marion liked it... and it was her drink anyway, so that was fine. I had a Pirate's Punch that I didn't get a photo but which tasted much better than either of the drinks I did get photos of. :>
Yeah, that's right, Absinthe, again. Absinthe is actually an alcohol usually about 70% alcohol by volume. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO POSSESS OR DRINK IN AMERICA! IT IS ONLY ILLEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE, SELL, AND MAKE. It is legal all across Europe. Why should those French bastards be the only ones to see the Green Fairy?
This is an ah-mazing drink, mostly because of the process. You get a special absinthe spoon place it on the glace and put 2 sugar cubes on it, then you pour 50ml of absinthe over them and THEN you set them on fire! Wait till they melt and fill with ice cold water. :P
I manages to find the absinthe my sister brought back from holiday in August!
We drank it before heading out to not be in the audience of Million Pound Drop.
