A few chairs and a table. Worn out but every year still there. It's a common view in many French villages, people are used to take a seat outside in many months of the year.
It's one of those excellent places to sit and enjoy this medieval town. It looks a bit worn out but that's because of frequent use, a French custom. Imagine, just add a nice French coffee, a crispy Croissant and the local newspaper. It's one of those many healthy moments of peace in the outdoors.
Over the years, not much has really changed in this corner, at most the grape stump with fresh green leaves in early spring and to see how the grape bunches mature during the summer and autumn. Who wouldn't want to have their own terrace like this, and the time and opportunity to use it almost the whole year round.

The small village Monpazier, a 13th-century bastide town, founded in 1285 and built by King Edward I of England for trade, commerce and justice. It almost didn't change in the past centuries, a medieval town square lined with an arched arcade, a 16th-century covered market, three of the original six rampared city gates remain and many other traces of medieval history. This picturesque small village is one of the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" villages, said to be one of the most atractive in southwest France.

Terracotta Army - L'Armée Terracotta
Exhibition "L'armée Terracotta - l'héritage de l'empereur chinois éternel". It shows items part of one of the greatest discoveries of the last century, the terracotta army discovered in 1974, dated about 2,200 years ago, then ancient China of the first Chinese emperor.
The 8,000 terracotta soldiers were a burial gift for Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di (259 -210 BC). The archaeological site, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, encompasses a stunning 98 square kilometers (38 square miles). As many as 700,000 conscripted workers have worked on the project to recreate the army of the Chinese emperor in terracotta, that is more than have worked on the pyramid of Cheops. Some time after the burial the collection was destroyed and weapons stolen by a rival emperor. The exhibition shows realistic replicas and unfortunately not the originals because they are too fragile to transport.

Hellevoetsluis - The area has been settled since before roman times and was concentrated around a body of water called the "Helle", which was later Latinized by the Romans to "Helinium" and "Helius". The history of Hellevoetsluis has always been connected with water.
During the time of the United Provinces Hellevoetsluis was the naval port of the Admiralty of de Maze (Rotterdam) and could accommodate an entire fleet within a special land-enclosed fortress with harbour and dockyard facilities, accessible through a canal. Thanks to its strategic situation the town grew from the beginning of the 17th century to be the homeport for the Dutch war fleet. In later years the port was fortified more and more and Hellevoetsluis therefore became a unique combination of fortified town and naval port. The Admirals Maarten Tromp, Michiel de Ruyter and Piet Heyn had their home base here and in 1688 during the Glorious Revolution William III of Orange's invasion fleet departed from the port.

A French type of Good evening, With the sun behind the horizon heavy shadows seem to disappear. Without the heat of the day it's easy to enjoy the city even more, Lots of people go for a walk, other people eating and bulbs of light fills the streets. It's a city in a total different dimension to enjoy.

Sarlat-la-Caneda - One of the most prominent villages in the Dordogne region is Sarlat-la-Canéda. A very popular destination in the Périgord Noir, maybe because modern history has largely passed it by. Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. The old centre consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on France's tentative list for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.

The fishing industry has been an important source of income for the province of Zeeland. Due to the closure of the many waters in this delta by the Delta Works, many fishing ports have lost their function. Fortunately, there are still fishing vessels that are mainly engaged in the cultivation of mussels and oysters.

Mechelen - in 1133 the name Mechluns appears, in the 14th century Mechlen, in 1842 Mechelen and is said to come from the Germanic * magalunas which means "near the large, powerful place" and named after the Malensbos Mechelen originated as a settlement around an estate that was donated to the Order of St. John in 1215 by Henry III, Duke of Limburg. In the 14th century, the glory came into the possession of Mr. van Wittem, but part of the village, together with the Commandery of the Order, remained an enclave within the glory. In 1579 and 1588 the monastery and the farm were destroyed by fire, after which the Johannieters left for Aachen in 1588. Today a very nice village in the Geuldal region.

Chateau des Milandes - Freda Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975), naturalized as Joséphine Baker, was an American-born French dancer, singer and actress. Her career was centered primarily in Europe, mostly in her adopted France. She was the first black woman to star in a major motion picture. During her early career, Baker was among the most celebrated performers to headline the revues of the Folies Bergère in Paris with her costume, consisting of only a short skirt of artificial bananas and a beaded necklace. She became an iconic image and a symbol both of the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties.
She raised her children in France at Chateau des Milandes. She aided the French Resistance during World War II and awarded the Resistance Medal by the French Committee of National Liberation, the Croix de Guerre by the French military, and Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur by General Charles de Gaulle.
On November 30, 2021, she was inducted into the Panthéon in Paris, the first black woman to receive one of the highest honors in France. As her resting place remains in Monaco Cemetery, a cenotaph was installed in vault 13 of the crypt in the Panthéon.
