Colorful Côte d'Azur fishing boats at the French Riviera.

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.

Cassis - One of the typical French coastline villages, Cassis (Est. 500BP). Popular but still one of those beautiful villages at the French Riviera in Southern France. Also a classic type of harbour with many of those typical fishing boats and colorful building facades. With some nice terraces, a nice boulevard, even a beach for a nice day at the beach or a boat trip to the Massif des Calanques further along the coast.

Hellevoetsluis - During the time of the United Provinces Hellevoetsluis was the naval port of the Admiralty of de Maze (Rotterdam) and could accommodate an entire fleet within a special land-enclosed fortress with harbour and dockyard facilities, accessible through a canal. Thanks to its strategic situation the town grew from the beginning of the 17th century to be the homeport for the Dutch war fleet. In later years the port was fortified more and more and Hellevoetsluis therefore became a unique combination of fortified town and naval port. The Admirals Maarten Tromp, Michiel de Ruyter and Piet Heyn had their home base here and in 1688 during the Glorious Revolution William III of Orange's invasion fleet departed from the port.

Dutch Clogs - they bring you two feet closer to nature, and birds just love it.

Approximately 3 million pairs of klompen are made each year and sold throughout the Netherlands. A large part of the market is for tourist souvenirs. However, some Dutch people, particularly farmers, market gardeners, and gardeners still wear them for everyday use.

The traditional all-wooden Dutch clogs have been officially accredited as safety shoes with the CE mark and can withstand almost any penetration including sharp objects and concentrated acids. They are actually safer than steelcapped protective shoes in some circumstances, as the wood cracks rather than dents in extreme accidents, allowing easy removal of the clog and not continued pressure on the toes by the (edge of the) steel nose..

Stop before you drop mine shaft.

.

The huge mine shaft tower or headframe, a steel construction with the characteristic large wheels for the mine lift. About 6,000 bolts have been processed in this 35-ton, 35-meter high, heavy steel tower, and on top is a 28-ton platform. The visitors hang here for a few seconds (stop-before-you-drop) while in the front row the gaze is directed downwards at a gaping hole filled with fog. After standing still for two seconds, the train drops 37.5 meters, with a steepest angle of 87 degrees, and a speed of almost 90 kilometers per hour. The sudden fall and the G-forces of the fall are a real thrill here.

A few chairs and a table. Worn out but every year still there. It's a common view in many French villages, people are used to take a seat outside in many months of the year.

It's one of those excellent places to sit and enjoy this medieval town. It looks a bit worn out but that's because of frequent use, a French custom. Imagine, just add a nice French coffee, a crispy Croissant and the local newspaper. It's one of those many healthy moments of peace in the outdoors.

Over the years, not much has really changed in this corner, at most the grape stump with fresh green leaves in early spring and to see how the grape bunches mature during the summer and autumn. Who wouldn't want to have their own terrace like this, and the time and opportunity to use it almost the whole year round.

Capture of Brielle - Procession

April 1st, 1572 - the capture of Brielle by the Watergeuzen. A turning point in the uprising of the Low Countries against Spain in the Eighty Years' War. Militarily the success was minor as the port of Brielle was poorly defended by the Spanish, but it provided the first foothold on land for the rebels at a time when the rebellion was all but crushed, and it offered the sign for a new revolt throughout the Netherlands which led to the formation of the Dutch Republic.

The Watergeuzen were led by William van der Marck, Lord of Lumey, and by two of his captains, Willem Bloys van Treslong and Lenaert Jansz de Graeff. After they were expelled from England by Elizabeth I, they needed a place to shelter their 25 ships. As they sailed towards Brielle, they were surprised to find out that the Spanish garrison led by the Spanish "Iron" Duke of Alva protagonists was poorly defended. On the evening of April 1 in 1572, the 600 men sacked the port, rammed the city gates, defeated the Spanish soldiers and liberated Brielle as the first Dutch city in the Netherlands from de Spanish .

Nowadays a very popular annual UNESCO event with lots of Watergeuzen, Spanish soldiers and medieval dressed people in a city center all dressed up just like then on that historical day.

Also behourd combats, spectacular and authentic demonstrations of armored duels. Enjoy craft workshops in ancient skills, such as blacksmithing, pottery, and medieval calligraphy. An immersive and festive atmosphere

Visitors are invited to come in costume to fully experience the festival atmosphere. Stalls will offer period clothing, accessories, and objects to complement their outfits. The streets is decorated with banners, standards, and medieval decor for a total immersion in the world of knights and artisans.

The small village Monpazier, a 13th-century bastide town, founded in 1285 and built by King Edward I of England for trade, commerce and justice. It almost didn't change in the past centuries, a medieval town square lined with an arched arcade, a 16th-century covered market, three of the original six rampared city gates remain and many other traces of medieval history. This picturesque small village is one of the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" villages, said to be one of the most atractive in southwest France.

It's A Small World but room for all. Colorful scenes pass by, but especially the parade-like accompanying music remains in the head long after the visit. The attraction is strongly reminiscent of Disney's "It's A Small World" but it is very nice that there is an Efteling variant.

The cheerful "Carnival Festival" (Est.1984) is a dark ride in the "Reizenrijk" Efteling section. The attraction takes visitors through colorful twenty scenes with music and about 280 puppets where various countries are portrayed from different cultures around the world with typical, clichéd characteristics and the music. A well-known figure in this attraction is "Loeki de Leeuw", so visitors continue to say "Asjemenou!".

Foggy morning at the historic fortifications, The fog and silence changes the atmosphere, it conceals what is otherwise visible and gives color to the image which is actually shaded in gray.

Fortifications - during the time of the United Provinces Hellevoetsluis was the naval port of the Admiralty of de Maze (Rotterdam) and could accommodate an entire fleet within a special land-enclosed fortress with harbour and dockyard facilities, accessible through a canal.
