A nice row of historic houses. These have all been located elsewhere and had to make room for new construction and redevelopment of the city center. They have been dismantled at the original location and reassembled here, as a result of this action they are all in perfect condition and in themselves a beautiful sight in this street.
Something that can be seen more often in Dordrecht, over the centuries, various houses have been moved or new facades have been added (often Dordish facades) and dated to that year, while the house itself is from an earlier date.

Nationaal Brandweermuseum Hellevoetsluis (Est.1963) - the total surface of this national fire brigade museum is approximately 3,000 m², making it the largest fire brigade museum in the Netherlands. It is just enough for the large collection of historic and old fire engines and other emergency services equipment.
The museum is located in the former large warehouse of the Dutch navy and a Kuiperij from 1786, near the end of the Dutch golden age. The Groot Magazijn was a repository for masts, chains, sails and other ship supplies with which the warships of the Dutch navy were supplied from the Vestinghaven of Hellevoetsluis. The Kuiperij also made wooden barrel beacons for pilotage. A small part of the warehouse is used by the City Museum. Hellevoetsluis used to be an important defence a Dutch navy base the main navy for centuries. It's a very nice location whith lots of history to be found.

Capture of Brielle - Procession
April 1st, 1572 - the capture of Brielle by the Watergeuzen. A turning point in the uprising of the Low Countries against Spain in the Eighty Years' War. Militarily the success was minor as the port of Brielle was poorly defended by the Spanish, but it provided the first foothold on land for the rebels at a time when the rebellion was all but crushed, and it offered the sign for a new revolt throughout the Netherlands which led to the formation of the Dutch Republic.
The Watergeuzen were led by William van der Marck, Lord of Lumey, and by two of his captains, Willem Bloys van Treslong and Lenaert Jansz de Graeff. After they were expelled from England by Elizabeth I, they needed a place to shelter their 25 ships. As they sailed towards Brielle, they were surprised to find out that the Spanish garrison led by the Spanish "Iron" Duke of Alva protagonists was poorly defended. On the evening of April 1 in 1572, the 600 men sacked the port, rammed the city gates, defeated the Spanish soldiers and liberated Brielle as the first Dutch city in the Netherlands from de Spanish .
Nowadays a very popular annual UNESCO event with lots of Watergeuzen, Spanish soldiers and medieval dressed people in a city center all dressed up just like then on that historical day.

Strypemonde - a walk on this 100-hectare estate leads you through a beautiful varied forest and past a flowery forest meadow and many special trees, such as the Metasequoia Glyptostroboides and exotic oaks. The former owners of the then 2000 hectare estate were shipowners, they brought many cuttings and seeds from abroad and they still grow here. The area is also rich in tawny owls, long-eared owls and woodpeckers and you will find many mushrooms in the autumn.
The name Strypemonde comes from a wide creek, the Strype, which flowed into the sea here in the Middle Ages and which was later dammed. The hunting lodges Olaertsduin and Strypemonde (anno 1930) are national monuments and the Schaapskooy is a municipal monument

Sprookjesbeelden aan Zee (Fairy Tale Sculptures by the Sea) - a free sculpture terrace on the boulevard of Scheveningen. The sympathetic sculptures by the American sculptor Tom Otterness are part of "Museum Beelden aan Zee" behind it. The more than twenty works of art depict various fairy tales, such as those of Gulliver, Hansel and Gretel, Tin Soldier, Moby Dick, Pinocchio and Hans Brinker.
Most striking is the gigantic Haringeter that has become the icon of the new Scheveningen boulevard. In total, the sculpture terrace comprises three large and twenty smaller bronze works of art with a skin of shiny patina, playfully placed on the boulevard, on islands and banisters. For photographers the glossy sculptures are a popular subject, not easy to isolate from the wandering crowds on this boulevard, but especially to capture these sculptures with some nice contrasting clouds or a sunset in the background.

Opening on March 18, 1967, the Disneyland version of Pirates of the Caribbean was the last attraction that Walt Disney himself participated in designing, debuting three months after his death. The ride gave rise to the song "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" written by George Bruns and Xavier Atencio. Steam engines on tour. Steam engines in and around the historic city center, once they have come to a halt in front of the Town Hall, you can really see how impressive they are. Hissing, big and heavy, the smell of burning coal, from time to time the loud whistling of the steam whistles that could be heard far and wide. This steam whistle sound has been the sign that it was Vestingdagen for several editions of this event.
Hellevoetsluis has no direct link in the past with steam engines, at most with the Pomphuis of the Jan Blanken Dry Dock, the Machinistenschool or later a steam train connection with Rotterdam. Nevertheless, these British steam engines were seen and experienced as a top attraction.

Don't shoot! - on the ramparts of Hellevoetsluis you can find the "Geschut 24 IJ" (Est.1870) canon, this type was the first large-caliber rear loading gun in the armament of the Dutch artillery. At the time there were 13 canons of this type of artillery at the fortress of Hellevoetsluis, as far as we know never used for actual defensive action. In the "National Military Museum" (NMM) in Soest is also a pristine example on display but without the fortress view.
Some details: the firing tube is 4560 mm long and the largest diameter at the height of the chamber piece (the thickest part) is 990 mm. Total weight of the entire construction is 22,710 kg, projectile velocity 380m p/s, range 3,000m, one shot every 4 minutes.

The Massif des Calanques coastline is a very impressive area to visit. A calanque is a narrow, steep-walled inlet that is developed in limestone, dolomite, or other carbonate strata and found along the Mediterranean coast. At the end of the inlet it reveales small beaches or small harbours.

Calanques National Park - Calanques National Park (French: Parc national des Calanques, Est. 2012), located in Bouches-du-Rhône, Southern France. The Park, intended to protect and preserve a huge UNESCO coastline area coastline area along the Mediterranean Sea and extends over 520 km2 (201 sq mi), of which 85 km2 (33 sq mi) is land, while the remaining is marine area. It includes parts of the Massif des Calanques stretching between Marseille, Cassis and La Ciotat. Sleeping Beauty Castle - completed in 1992, for the park's 12 April opening, Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant stands 50 meters (160 ft) tall. The Castle is home to a dragon, which, at 27 meters (89 ft) from head to tail, was the largest Animatronic figure yet built when the park opened in April 1992. The walkthrough attraction consists of a dimly lit cavern with the large dragon sleeping silently. Occasionally it will 'wake up', puffing smoke and growling. The building also contains La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant, a gallery of displays which illustrate the story of Sleeping Beauty in tapestries, stained glass windows and figures. La Boutique du Château, a shop selling Christmas ornaments year-round, and Merlin l'Enchanteur, a shop specialising in handmade glass figures, are located on ground floor.
