The stones in the wall show that it is a very old house. The door, windows and shutters are in a good state of maintenance. It's strange to realize that most modern buildings will certainly not become that old, apartment buildings, office colossus and other modern buildings will be demolished after a relatively short period of time. This while we pretend to know all about sustainability.

Artwork Cornucopia - Hoorn des Overvloeds - the interior of the Markthal is covered with a 11,000 m² (two football fields) large artwork by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, entitled "Hoorn des Overvloeds". This title refers to the Cornucopia, a horn of Latin mythology which symbolizes abundance and saturation.
The artwork shows strongly enlarged fruits, vegetables, seeds, fish, flowers and insects. It was made using digital 3D-techniques, printed on 4000 perforated aluminum panels and covers the ceiling of the hall. Some now call it "The largest artwork in the world" or "The Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam".

For this movie production Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is the stand in for all the scenes that are supposed to be Versailles, although in the book, the switch between Louis and Philippe happens at Vaux-le-Vicomte the prototype for Versaille. In some film versions, the switch takes place at a real and actual event the "fête de Vaux" (17 August 1661), a famous party for the unveiling of the new château. The party was attended by Louis XlV, who realized that the king's own palace was seen as inferior to the new château of his non-royal finance minister. Built between 1658 to 1661 as a symbol of power and influence and intended to reflect the grandeur of Nicolas Fouquet, Marquis de Belle Île, Viscount of Melun and Vaux, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV.
The château was an influential work of architecture in mid-17th-century Europe. The architect Louis Le Vau, the landscape architect André le Nôtre, and the painter-decorator Charles Le Brun worked together on this large-scale project. Efteling Museum - opened in 2003 on the renovated and expanded Anton Pieckplein. The museum houses old ornaments, statues and attributes of the park. For example, you can see the first original flying fakir, the speaking map, the first witches who were on top of the entrance gate to the Fairytale Forest and many dozens of molds of heads. There is also an exhibition space where original design sketches can be seen.

The Vestingdagen (Fortress Days) in Hellevoetsluis, an annual multi-day event since 1979. Very popular and with lots of activities in and around the former naval base of the Netherlands. With many historic and vintage ships and vehicles, steam engines, fair and market, various types of demonstrations in the air and ofcourse on the water. Also, lots to do like short boattrips, visit the various musea, watch the naval parade and fireworks show late at night. With about 200.000 visitors in total a well attended event.

Tower of Terror spooky interior (est 2007) - an accelerated drop tower dark ride inspired by Rod Serling's anthology television series, The Twilight Zone, and take place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel in Hollywood, California. It places riders in a seemingly ordinary hotel elevator, and present the riders with a fictional backstory in which people have mysteriously disappeared from the elevator. The station building is richly decorated, with a landing and large overhanging roof with chalet-style wood ornaments, constructed from approximately 300,000 bricks with distinctive horizontal patterns. The name "Rijksmijn Baron 1898" is placed above the door. Next to the station building is a 22 meter high chimney and an enormous shaft tower with the characteristic large wheels for the mine lift.

The attraction is themed as a late nineteenth century coal mine as in the Limburg Mining Region, but in the story, and of course for the Efteling, told to be a gold mine. The name Baron 1898 refers to the background story of the saga of the Witte Wieven, in which a greedy mining baron, Gustave Hooghmoed, has found a gold vein and wants to extract as much gold as possible from the ground. One of the Travers le temps sections. Vintage shops, facades and decorations constructed just like how it was in the early beginning of modern-day Paris. Nice vintage posters decorate the walls, the few streetlights illuminate the scene. Even the train accident at the Montparnasse trainstation can be seen.
