There are 16 corbels in all, representing the months, elements and seasons.

Here you have the four seasons. In the four corners.

In architecture a corbel is a structural piece of stone, wood or metal jutting from a wall to carry a superincumbent weight, often very decorative.

These here in the Gothic Hall of the City Hall in Brugge, are likely to be Late Gothic corbels and all of which are different.

PICKERING STATION, OLD LUGGAGE.

ON THE GO in KINGS CROSS STATION LONDON...

Sitting on a low wall, waiting on Sunday noon, King’s Cross Station in London, it was stifling hot.

Instead of being bored and impatient, I decided to pass the time being 'creative'...

I noticed all the people hurrying by and also, especially, that EVERYBODY was lugging bags, lots of bags, of all types, colours and designs.

Spotted, striped, floral, classic, coloured.

I wondered, what were they all transporting?

Can we not go anywhere without our ‘wheeled’ carriers?

Often not one but more, backpacks, plastic, leather, designed, handbags, so many.

All different, just like the people, their shoes, legs and leg wear!

I saw people traveling alone, in pairs, in group, I saw them smile, I saw them laugh, I saw some cry, I saw some depressed and some tired, people of all walks of life.

I saw hellos and I saw good-byes... all the emotions ...

I became smilingly fascinated and eventually left feeling a great sense of joy because of this series.

I feel so biased, I like them ALL, LOL, thank you, M, (*_*)

Alonzis, the FAMOUS ice cream parlour in Scarborough, Yorkshire!

Famed for serving some of the best ice cream in the country, Giulian Alonzi's Harbour Bar in Sandside, Scarborough is almost unaltered since opening in 1945.

With decor described by The Times as, "a sunburst of yellow and white, a banana split recreated in Formica" the walls are lined with mirrors and slogans 'Get your vitamins the easy way', 'Eat ice cream every day.'

"The Alonzi's settled in Scarborough in 1896 and the old milk bar is thriving.

Says Giulian: "We're busy all winter here.

In the summer, people come to enjoy themselves.

In winter, they come to enjoy the place."

Flanders.

The sun is pounding again, I look for shade to walk in.

This is the Boeveriestraat.

Have not been here for a very long time.

I remember walking along these typical houses, on my mother’s hand, from the station to the center of the city, where we would meet my grandmother.

You see the black border on the bottom?

Houses who had a garden would have flowers against them, and THATis the origin of the idea to paint and later photograph flowers against a black background!

DANGEROUS SUMMER GAMES...

Thornwick, on the beautiful North-Yorkshire Heritage Coast.

Thornwick Bay is located next to Flamborough .

A headland and magnificent cliffs with two bays of shingle, pebbles and flint.

The large bay is Thornwick Bay and the small one, Little Thornwick Bay.

Limestone rocks and cliffs, fretted by the sea, small beaches and plenty of mysterious caves.

Many come the see it from the sea in all sorts, here a group of colourful vessels, people rowing together, their voices tinged with joy resonating amongst the heights.

The youngsters, on the top were engaged in a much more dangerous game... diving off the cliff.

Most of you will know by now, how much I love playing with light.

Well, these was one of these 'sessions', when imagination and creativity joined in the studio.

These lights, plastic tubes filled with little lights, had 'entertained' us the whole Summer in the garden.

It seemed silly to leave them out now, so, in they came!

Then, something happened, I saw them and thought, now wait a minute, what if, euhhh, yes, do this, try that?

I was thrilled now, and started to try ALL sorts...

Here I'm using 2 tubes, I tried different techniques with the studio-lights. Love a challenge, and it was.

To freeze me = washed out the lights too much.

So, the old joke was always that photographers do it in the dark! Here's PROOF!IN AUTUMN DARKNESS... A ROSE

These are the best, hah, sigh, what a great time I had and glad with the results.

THE DARK PINK BLOSSOMS, VICTORIANAMalus, Crab-apple, "wild apples".

Saw this beautiful tree, being thrashed by wind and rain, it stood strong amongst the white and pink blossoms of the surrounding tree.

Found a place to park, tried to get a 'good' image, but the weather was getting worse... my Nikon can stand rain, however....

I looked and saw on the ground that already a few had been ripped off, the old wood looked beautiful, I carefully picked it up and brought it home, to photograph and enjoy.

Victoriana is "in" and trendy, so, it is at the moment a very popular style.

I know that many try to imitate my 'style', good luck!

1.Standing under that bridge in Southern Spain, the E-15, I feel so small.

... We meander on, till eventually, we are out and on the way down again, the nice road is finished, now more rocky, we pass a few deserted old ruins of small farmhouses, come under the The Autopista del Mediterráneo, the E15.

It is both impressive and intimidating; we both get out to take photographs.

2. The Bristol Bridge, fairly new, we were on our way to Cornwall.

STORY in THREE PARTS... by magda indigo

HAPPINESS IS... buying art.

This time it was not a sculpture or painting nor design, but GLASS.

For quite some time we wanted to photograph glass being blown by an artisan.

I found Marcel Vlamynck, a master glassblower, and contacted him, he was agreeable and the appointment was made.

The earliest evidence of glassblowing comes from a collection of waste from a glass shop, including fragments of glass tubes, glass rods and tiny blown bottles, which was dumped in a ritual bath in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, dated from 37 to 4 BC.

The transformation of raw materials into glass takes place at around 1,320 °C (2,400 °F) the glass emits enough heat to appear almost white hot.

The glass is then left to "fine out" (allowing the bubbles to rise out of the mass), and then the working temperature is reduced in the furnace to around 1,090 °C (2,000 °F).

At this stage, the glass appears to be a bright orange color.

We enjoyed a whole afternoon, and of course we went home with a piece of glass Art work!

The bottom is hugged by a blackened old branch, very special.

For those who are always cold: THAT IS THE JOB!!! LOL

Working boats come in and fishing boats fare out, shrimping and fishing by night.

It is our last night of our holiday in Ostend, Flanders/Belgium.

We visit a favourite place again, the old pier, the evening light is gorgeous, brightening the whites and saturating the colours.

Most people have gone home, the sea-breeze is cold, the fragrance wonderful, as is the silence except for the gulls' scratch now and then.

THE OLD VICTORIA PIER... COLWYN BAY. by magda indigo

I photographed this with my Nikon F4 when it was already closed and deserted.

The Victoria Pier was a pier in the seaside resort of Colwyn Bay, Wales.

Despite dismantlement since May 2018, much of the metalwork remains and retains the legal status of a grade-II listed structure.

Plans for a partial re-build in 2019 have been made by the pier's owner, Conwy County Borough Council.

Designed by Mangnall and Littlewoods the pier opened in 1900 and was extended in 1903 to the length of 227m.

The first two pavilions built on the pier burnt down along with a bijou theatre.

The third pavilion was built in 1934 and significantly extended and altered in the 1970s to allow for nightclub and amusement arcade entertainments.

From the late 1980s the pier began to decline with the seaward portion of the pier being closed due to its poor state of repair.

The condition of the pier and the entertainments continued to decline until 2008 when it closed permanently.

A long-standing legal wrangle between the previous private owner and the council ensued.

By 2013 the pier was in danger of collapse and a local community group attempted to secure funding for a rebuilding programme which failed.

In 2017, part of the pier collapsed onto the beach below, dangerous sections of the pier were dismantled and a new plan to create a shortened pier were agreed upon by the council and a charitable trust representing the community interest.

Apparently it is now renovated and open.

This is the result of having 2 professional ballet dancers in your studio (he was for a couple of years a solo dancer with the world renowned Maurice Béjart, she has her own school), who are up for a challenge and something different.

In between the serious stuff, there is always some time for some fun, play and some antics to relax.

Thrown in some proper ballet figures, le poisson, and more.

Great for the creative photographers.

The big cube is a table in our living room, I just love glass and light, the distortions, the glows.

The other two glass cubes, I use for many things, a vase ets....

Once I got going in the studio, there was no stopping me.

But what I tried to do was, each time, create a completely DIFFERENT image with the same subject.

Different lights give different hues on film, this came out more yellow, but I didn’t feel like removing the colourcast, liked it as it was.

Sunday evening, the brassband blowing lovey vibrant tunes on their instruments

This young chap with his puppy, sharing a beautiful moment, he was in his own world.

Trying to take a photo of the lively little dog, he eventually showed it to his pal, who rather sniffed it, LOL

I strongly believe that children should grow up, caring for animals, build respect for all thing live.

When my three were young, I gave up my business, upped and bought a house in the countryside.

They had dog, cats, chickens, duck, rabbits.

They learned a lot... and so did I.

It must stimulate the imagination, a box can be anything you want.

In the Negev Desert, which is a stone desert in Southern Israel, you have a part, with different coloured canyons, the Pink canyon, the Red canyon, the White canyon, some of them in Timna, where you also find the ruins of the place where King Solomon had his copper mines.

It is an awesome place, hot and silent, with some of the strangest rock-formations I ever photographed.

It was quite a climb down, with all our equipment, it was out of season, we were by ourselves and one evening, the sun, as usual, dropped down quickly, taking with it the warmth, we had waited for the sweet light and on our return almost got lost.

It is a fabulous environment, bright light and deep shadows, again what hits me is the absolute silence, the beauty and the sense of the deeper you go, the more you go back in time, a feeling of eternity came over me...

From jagged, dark granite to the softer coloured sandstone and limestone, these distinctions offer a delightful picture of the desert terrain.

The seniority of officers and non-commissioned officers is signified by the amount of lace worn on collars and cuffs; the more lace the more senior the rank.

The Pikemen & Musketeers are dressed and equipped as members of the Company would have been in the 1640s and are tasked with providing a ceremonial bodyguard for the Lord Mayor of the City of London and escorting him when he is on official business.

Company of Pikemen & Musketeers to parade no more than 63 members at any one time, that being the size of a company in the 17th century.

Only veteran members of the HAC who have had proven efficient service in the HAC’s Territorial Army regiment are eligible to join the Company of Pikemen & Musketeers.

All join in the lowest rank, regardless of any previous military rank held.

Members must be fit enough to competently complete the march of the Lord Mayor’s Show.

Military medals and insignia are permitted to be worn.

Members are unpaid but give freely of their own time for drill practice and rehearsals as well as the parades and guards themselves.

All make a significant contribution towards the cost of their own uniform and are expected to clean and look after their armour, muskets and other kit to maintain the highest standards of turnout for the many prestigious occasions they parade for.

ALL EDIBLE, YUM...

Nuts, onion, Asparagus, Cobnuts, and A FRENCH AFFAIR! GARLIC ...

During our visit to the Continent, we drove through part of Northern France, we made a stop in St Omer, often the first stop inland for many visitors to France, a quiet, unassuming and attractive little town, 43km southeast of Calais.

We wanted to stretch our legs. Walked through the lovely shopping-streets with some beautiful old houses and got to the market square.

On the corner, we saw the most attractive fruit and veg shop, everything looking very fresh.

I saw plaits of fresh garlic... I chose one, walked inside to pay for it when I saw the cheese-counter, full of 'spécialitées de la région'...

I bought some of that too...

Although the garlic was wrapped in TWO bags, as was the cheese, and in the boot we had a zipped up 'cooling-bag' in which we stored our purchases...

From then on, each time we got into our car, we were greeted and treated by the pungent mixture of the combined 'fragrances!!!

What a laugh!

The cheese was delicious, the garlic... ahem, beautiful? (the guys in the studio weren't so impressed!)

They only sell it in plastic or silicon.

And most are made so very attractive?

So, as long as they make it in synthetic, and so attractive, THAT is what people will buy and use?

It starts at the origin to NOT make it any more and look for other materials?

I do NOT mind wood or metal.

some people have their decorations already finished.

It was too early for me.

However that moment of dusk, the lights are on… curtains not yet closed, cold outside, warm inside, to stand, walk, drive and look into the cosy Winter windows…

One of our favourite places, Saltaire, Yorkshire

Salt's Mill, Shipley, a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon... the fragrance in Salts Mill, with its lovely fragrance of massive vases of white Lilies everywhere, the smell of new books and art materials, like oils , pencils, special papers to paint on.

The sweet notes of classical music caressing ones ears... good for all the senses.

We always come away with a big smile of contentment after a visit there.

Saltaire, near Bradford in West Yorkshire, is a mid-Victorian industrial village almost unchanged since it was built by Mill owner and philanthropist Sir Titus Salt built his village in the 19th century for the spiritual, physical and moral welfare of his workers, at the site of his mill for the spinning and weaving of Alpaca Wool.

After a period of decline, it is now an example of post-industrial renewal.

Saltaire, with its cobbled streets and honey-coloured stonework, has joined the Taj Mahal and the pyramids of Egypt as a Unesco World Heritage Site, thanks to its preservation as a Victorian Model Industrial Village.

Today his great mill complex is the key feature of Saltaire and houses the 1853 gallery containing the largest collection of art in Europe by renowned Bradfordian David Hockney

The sweet notes of classical music caressing ones ears... good for all the senses.

We always come away with a big smile of contentment after a visit there.
