Dane and I have struggled with infertility over the past 13 years of our marriage. We have done many procedures to help us have a child, without any luck.
With that said, we are participating in a 5k that is being put on by fertility clinics in our area to raise awareness and to also bless 4 families with the opportunity to do In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Each team member gains us a raffle ticket to win a free IVF treatment. Regardless if we win or not, 4 families that are experiencing the same struggle that we have will be blessed with the opportunity to grow their families.
We have a team of friends and family that are supporting us in this. If you would like to support us, you can join our team for $40 dollars. If you would like to support us but aren't able to do the walk/run/crawl 5k you can sign up with the "sleep in" option. Our team name is "Bailey for Baby". The event takes place April 21st at Greenlake in Seattle.
Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
God Bless

Week 15: Fragile
A group of people wearing bright blue shirts descended upon The Square this afternoon and set out red silhouettes of women. The silhouettes were all shapes and sizes...even pregnant and child-sized. Each one had a woman's story. They made a powerful display The shirts read "Sexual Assault Awareness Vigil." I had to leave before the speakers began. Will have to look for a write-up in tomorrow's paper.
This is a little more exposure than I would normally be comfortable with. But today is October 1st. The start of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Personally I know people battling right now. They are in my thoughts and prayers.
Armed with mindful awareness, appearances are seen, yet absent of any inherent realness. Along with our matrix of reactions, scattering mindfulness and perceptions, it remains unsullied. The ground is the same for all that appears to arise, abide and cease. Such activity is the pure play and its potential is the expression.
On a conventional level, things are usually not what they appear to be. Furthermore their relationship to us and those around us are not mere coincidence. Rather an intricate fabric of connections born of our true motivations and actions, conscious and unconscious from beginingless time. So there are those among us that "see" both conventionally and ultimately, at the same time, all the time. The joy of pure view.
A morality play based upon a famous painting by Vermeer. It all has to do with awareness in light. All things brought up into the consciousness out of the shadows of the unconscious mind.
As I was doing this collage I became aware of the subtle play of serpentia in the red covering on the table, her dress, and the window frame.
In Vermeer's world time is frozen so that people too become part of a still life bathed in ethereal light.
This is a magnificent abstraction in black, gold, and red with the s-curves of white in blue that wind through the center edge-to-edge. My serpent continues the thematic structure, which I believe was something already implied. In a sense, I drew up the unconscious content and made it more visible.
Of course, Vermeer knew what he was about by leaving the serpent as an unconscious motif in the table cloth. My work is part of a process of critical understanding.
As part of our Knife Crime Awareness Week, Greater Manchester Police officers attended Woodhey High School, in Bury, on Wednesday, 10 May 2017.
Officers gave a presentation to the pupils on the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.
Pupils were also informed of the 'joint enterprise' law. 'Joint enterprise' is when even if it's not you carrying the knife, if you're with someone who uses a weapon to injure or kill, you too could be prosecuted and sentenced.
Officers also stressed that if pupils had any concerns on knife crime, they could speak to their teachers, call GMP on 101, or call Child Line on 0800 1111.

Knowing your risk is central to
reducing your vulnerability. This training session for
villagers in Natutu village on Fiji's main island near
the town of Ba is building community awareness and
understanding of risk. The training covers how to
prepare for and respond to floods, cyclones,
earthquakes and tsunamis: where to flee to stay
above the water, what supplies to prepare
beforehand, what radio stations and mobile phone
messages to watch out for and the importance of
establishing a village committee to oversee disaster
risk reduction and preparedness.

I took this shot at a recent Seahawks game where the halftime show was the Sea Gals and Washington high school cheerleaders did a dance that was to increase awareness.
It was one of the coolest shows I have seen and I think that the NFL does a great job of incorporating breast cancer awareness into its games and promotions.

Ivy:....breast cancer awareness month.
Rosy: And that is why we are all in pink.
Holly: We may be all in pink but we still look very orangey since Lindamom does not use a flash.
Ivy: That is too bad because my beanbag chair is very pink.
Rosy: Isn't that Mr. Squishy you are sitting on?
Holly: Whatever color we are wearing we are still thinking about all the women who died from breast cancer and those who survived!
Ivy: I agree!
Rosy: I agree!
Me: Five years and five months survivor!

This week is Deaf Awareness week. In the UK there are almost 9 million deaf and hard of hearing adults of which nearly 7 million are severely or profoundly deaf.
1 in 1000 children are deaf at the age of 3 and currently there are around 20,000 children who are moderately to profoundly deaf covering the ages of 0-15 years old. Only 12,000 of these children were born deaf.
It is important to raise awareness, never underestimate how being Deaf can affect somebody's life. Just learning the alphabet in sign language, or learning how to speak clearly, facing the person you are speaking to, can make a huge difference. Being patient, innovative and calm also helps.
The NDCS have announced that the theme for this year's Deaf Awareness week is "Look at Me".
"This theme aims to improve understanding of deafness by highlighting the range methods of communication methods used by deaf children, such as sign language and lip reading."
The RNID provide a completely confidential "Check your hearing" test. Give it a go, it may be the best thing you did. See www.rnid.org.uk/howwehelp/hearing_check/take_online_heari...

I took this photo for Ostomy Awareness Day, just to show people that pouches can be hidden. I love my belly bands. This one my super-awesome momma made for me out of an old stretchy cotton t-shirt. We just cut it up, then she sewed it up, and viola! A breathable, comfortable tool that keeps my pouch from bulging under my shirt.
