After Dark

I'm late because life gets in the way. I get busy and tunnel visioned and easily distracted (as you're well aware). And yet there you always are...patiently waiting for me to refocus with open arms. Often my anchor when things are hectic and crazy... my compass, my lighthouse.

It has not always been easy but it has always been worth it. I love you so much. Thank you for being mine for the past two years..excited for the next one with you.

'He's one of the good ones

A love me like he should one

Like he wrote the book one

The kind you find when you don't even look one

Anybody can be good once

But he's good all the time

He's one of the good ones

And he's all mine

Am I out of my head?

Am I out of my mind?

If you only knew the bad things I like

Don't think that I can explain it

What can I say, it's complicated

The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Resolution 54/134).[1] The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden.

The wildebeest also called the gnu is an antelope in the genus Connochaetes native to Eastern and Southern Africa. It belongs to the family Bovidae, which includes antelopes, cattle, goats, sheep, and other even-toed horned ungulates.

Connochaetes includes two species, both native to Africa: the black wildebeest or white-tailed gnu (C. gnou), and the blue wildebeest or brindled gnu (C. taurinus).

In East Africa, the blue wildebeest is the most abundant big-game species; some populations perform an annual migration to new grazing grounds, but the black wildebeest is merely nomadic. Breeding in both takes place over a short period of time at the end of the rainy season and the calves are soon active and are able to move with the herd, a fact necessary for their survival. Nevertheless, some fall prey to large carnivores, especially the spotted hyena.

Wildebeest often graze in mixed herds with zebra, which gives heightened awareness of potential predators. They are also alert to the warning signals emitted by other animals such as baboons.

Some illegal hunting goes on but the population trend is fairly stable and some populations are in national parks or on private land. The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists both as least-concern species. – Wikipedia

Situational awareness (or lack of it, in fact) in Rome.

For an account of a few interesting days in Rome:

I think we all have a little quiet riot, of sorts, brewing inside of us. The difference is in how you resolve it. Be kind.

4th November 2020:

Rufus: "It's Wednesday again, so Mum was stuck at home while Dad was out with Auntie Christine. She didn't mind, especially when I snuggled up next to her on the sofa.

She got her picture making thing and took a photo of me, but changed her mind and put the thing much lower down and tried again.

We both liked this one of me almost having 40 winks. I then got bored, so went and lay on the bed. I'll then hear Dad when he comes home too."

Background:

"Forget ME not" was created to raise awareness about M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) - an extremely debilitating, life changing, complex chronic disease that has received shamefully low attention and fundings for research for decades. Patients are being disbelieved, misunderstood and dismissed. There is no treatment and no cure.

Over 20 million people across the globe are affected and in the aftermaths of COVID this number is quickly rising (many Long Covid patients end up being diagnosed with M.E).

During our events in May we will create awareness, break the stigma and fundraise for the "Open Medicine Foundation" who conduct research into M.E, Long Covid, Fibromyalgia and related chronic conditions. They are a registered, US based non-profit organization that has been around for over 10 years.

You can also support by wearing this blue ribbon exclusively made by Enewa, when you click the information box at the Forget ME Not sim.

Solzhenitsyn explains that art “is like that small mirror of legend: you look into it, but instead of yourself you glimpse for a moment the Inaccessible, a realm forever beyond your reach. And your soul begins to ache . . .”18 Without the ache we would have no longing for the good, true, or beautiful. Human beings seek, but cannot possess, the “light of eternity.”19 We are finite creatures who can imagine the infinite. It is both the absence of and the desire for the eternal that gives us awareness and prevents us from disappearing into the eternal present of animal consciousness.

South African based artist, Sonny, has been travelling the world with his latest wildlife protection campaign “‘To The Bone” which aims to raise funds and awareness for endangered wildlife before it’s too late. His latest mural of a Rhino brings him to the streets of London.

The UK wall mural features a Rhino and a child and is the first of Sonny’s ‘To The Bone’ paintings to incorporate a human element. The mural can be found on the corner of Fell Road and High Street, 87-89 High Street, Croydon CR0 1QF.

His murals often show the endangered animals’ faces breaking away to reveal the raw skeletons underneath, symbolic of how these beautiful creatures are quickly fading away. Tribal patterns from the animals’ country of origin adorn the exposed bones, driving home the message that in losing them we are losing a part of our heritage too.

The Central Methodist Church, also known as the Central Methodist Mission or Metropolitan Methodist Church, is a large and historically important Methodist church located on Greenmarket Square in Cape Town, South Africa. The church has played a significant role in the growth of Methodism in South Africa. In 1988, the Metropolitan Church merged with Buitenkant Street Church, forming the Central Methodist Mission.

History and activism

The church is known for its active advocacy efforts such as its yellow banner campaign that seeks to rise awareness of important social issues and as a site of refuge. The church windows were damaged by police water cannons during the anti-apartheid Purple Rain protest in 1989.

After being slaughtered to near extinction, there are now sizeable numbers of Plains Bison on various prairie landscapes around North America. To me bison are the most iconic species in the prairie ecosystem.

Here's how James Page refers to photographing them in his book, "Wild Prairie".

"...But this prairie icon can be a dangerous beast. Equipped with my longest telephoto lens, I took a walk on the wild side of a big bison bull...It is possible to share common turf with most animals, provided you respect their fight-or-flight distance, which is different for each species and for different individuals within a species. Careful observation is required. There is little margin for error. I kept back 300 feet or more, allowing the solitary bull to become aware of me in increments."

James' book and his wonderful work posted here on Flickr has given me an appreciation for the prairie that I never would have had otherwise.

• She sits on the edge of maybe,

where dreams drift off and just begin.

No map, no compass in her hand,

but still the courage to stand still.

She softly says, “I do not know,”

and that is all she has to show.

But in that quiet, open name,

there lies a truth without a claim.

She is no riddle to be solved,

no path that must be clearly drawn —

but a story growing gently still,

in doubt, in hope, in morning’s dawn.

As always, a huge thanks to those who stop by to view, fave and or comment! It is truly appreciated... 🙏 ❤️

Being aware is being alive, remember that you aren't your mind and your thoughts, you are the one observing it the "I" that is consciousness.
