THE TEAL is the smallest duck in Britain and one of the most widespread. Flocks of teals are a familiar sight in winter on estuaries, mudflats and inland wetlands. They are still very attractive, this one seen at the scrape, Sandwich Bay, Kent UK

The attractive but unobtrusive wood warbler is one of the largest Phylloscopus warblers in Europe. It has bright yellow upper parts, throat and upper chest and white under parts.

The species is widespread and numerous in deciduous forest in Europe and reaches its highest densities in the UK in the western oak woods of Wales.

Attractive, colorful vireo with thick white spectacles. Note dark blue-gray head, yellowish sides, and bold white wingbars. Breeds in forested areas, typically mixed coniferous and deciduous. Migrants can be found in any wooded area, often in flocks with other small songbirds. Winters from the southeastern U.S. to Central America. Blue-headed is the brightest of the "Solitary Vireo" complex, and usually identifiable by range alone. Compare especially with Cassin's Vireo on the wintering grounds, but note Blue-headed is more colorful and contrasty. Especially look for contrast between the dark gray face and white throat. Some birds are best left unidentified. Song is sweeter and slower than other vireos in breeding range. (eBird)

This attractive diving duck often gathers by the thousands on lakes or bays in the winter. Males have cinnamon-colored head, yellow eye, and gray body. Females are plain brown overall, a lighter blond color than scaup and Ring-necked Duck. Also note evenly rounded head shape. About the size of Greater Scaup, but slightly larger than Lesser Scaup and Ring-necked Duck—this can be helpful when they are together in mixed flocks. Best separated from Canvasback by head and bill shape and male’s darker gray body. Breeds on marshy freshwater ponds and lakes; winters in flocks on any large body of water, often mixed with other diving ducks. Dives frequently to reach submerged aquatic vegetation. (eBird)

Rhodanthe chlorocephala is a native Australian daisy belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is widely grown due to its attractive flowers and foliage, and because it’s hardy, adaptable and provides a good, fast ground cover. The flowers are long-lived and dry well. Rhodanthe chlorocephala subspecies rosea is the most widely grown subspecies and is commonly known as “Pink and White Everlasting”, “Rosy Sunray”, “Pink Paper-daisy” and “Rosy Everlasting”. It grows naturally in the south of Western Australia extending into South Australia. Rhodanthe chlorocephala subsp. rosea is an erect annual herb 20-60cm high with clumps of glabrous (hairless) grey-green stems and leaves 1-6cm in length. It has a large single flowering head at the tip of each stem. Flower heads grow to 6cm diameter, gradually decreasing as the flowering season progresses. The color of the bracts varies from deep pink (almost red) through pale pink to pure white, with a yellow or black centre.

Achillea tomentosa, commonly known as woolly yarrow, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is sometimes kept as a garden plant, and occasionally naturalizes outside its original range of dry lowland habitats of southern Europe and (possibly) western Asia. 26258

The Money Plant is a biennial that is grown for the silvery white, flattened, disc-like seed pods. Plants bloom with clusters of lavender flowers in spring and make pods second summer after seeds are sown. It is these coin-shaped pods that make it attractive in dried arrangements.

This attractive little butterfly also occurs in the Old World where it is known as the Chequered Skipper.

I always loved the dandelion, especially as a child with its wonderful vibrant yellow colour and in particular when it turned into ball of white fluff that could be blown upon and the seedlings would float away. Not only that, the bees loves its pollen richness. So pretty flower it is then, rather than a nuisance weed.

Attractive scenery before sunset disappears behind the sea horizon leaving the sky and the clouds engulfed in a beautiful orange color.

The large flowers and abundant nectar are very attractive to many species of butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and moths. Many other species will also use other plant parts for food, including the leaves, stems, roots, flower heads and seeds. Seeds are attractive to seed eating birds such as such as the American goldfinch. More information can be found at... plants.usda.gov/factsheet/pdf/fs_cidi.pdf

The Buff-fronted Owl is both a highly attractive and very poorly known owl, and is the sole member of the genus Aegolius to occur in South America. Its range there is rather widespread, but apparently highly disjunct, the species occurring in the Andes from northwest Venezuela to northern Peru, and then, equally locally, over much of the eastern third of South America, from northeast Brazil south to northeast Argentina, and Bolivia. Over this wide range, the Buff-fronted Owl is known from a wide variety of forest types, and has been recorded from sea level to the timberline. The face and underparts are largely buffy-colored, whilst the upperparts are dark brown, marked with white spots and bars on the wings and tail, respectively. Its whistled trilling vocalization recalls that of some screech-owls.

It's always a joy to find them and even more to be able to photograph!

Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc. Very much appreciated!

Autumn colour at the village pond. Pilson Green is a hamlet linked with my own village of South Walsham. So many Norfolk villages have ponds. Most are attractive and little havens of mystery, attracting wildlife.

During courtship/bonding in the breeding season, male bee-eaters offer insect 'snacks' to females. Here on the branch are two males, left and middle (with the dragonfly) and the female to the right. Bothe sexes are alike with this species but females can often be separated from males by body size...but not always.

These migratory birds can be found as far north as Finland and as far south as South Africa, extending east into some Asiatic countries too. Most commonly, European Bee-eaters will breed and nest in southern Europe, then migrate south during autumn and winter.

European bee-eaters live for five to six years. The difficulties of migration and avoiding predators along the way affect every bird. Bee-eaters today also find it harder to find food, as there are fewer insects around as a result of pesticides.

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful lush forests and spectacular views. Sapan Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green mountains and lush natural landscapes. The waterfall is located deep in the mountains and is surrounded by lush tropical jungle, making for an enchanting landscape. To reach the waterfall, you must follow a path that winds through the lush jungle. It can be an adventurous journey, but the reward of reaching the waterfall is totally worth it. Along the way, enjoy the region's abundant flora and fauna, including exotic birds, reptiles, and wildlife. We encountered a Blue Crested Lizard on a tree in the undergrowth.

The Blue-Crested Lizard, also known as Calotes mystaceus, is a species of Dragon lizard that is found in province Nan of Thailand. As the name suggests, the Blue-Crested Lizard has a vibrant blue-colored crest on its head, which is more prominent in males. The rest of its body is usually green or brown, providing excellent camouflage among the vegetation. It has a slender and agile body, growing to an average length of around 30 to 40 centimeters, with the tail being longer than the body. These lizards are primarily arboreal, meaning they spend much of their time in trees and shrubs. They have strong limbs with sharp claws that enable them to climb and cling onto branches. They are also proficient jumpers and can swiftly move between trees. Blue-Crested Lizards are active during the day. They primarily feed on insects, such as crickets, grasshoppers, and beetles, but they may also consume small fruits and flowers. In Thailand, the Blue-Crested Lizard can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, gardens, agricultural areas, and urban green spaces. It is a common and widely distributed species, often encountered by locals. Observing the vibrant blue crest and the agile movements of the Blue-Crested Lizard can be an exciting experience for nature enthusiasts and reptile lovers. However, it's important to remember that these lizards are wild animals, and it's best to admire them from a distance without disturbing their natural behavior.

The most attractive thing about our cat is his amber eyes. But the whole face is very cute, and the white socks on the paws and the white triangular bib are also charming. It’s very difficult to say what I like most about him - he is overall a completely perfect creation of nature!

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

This highly attractive building was constructed in 1929 for the German Motor Company, an automobile dealership which had long roots in Jacksonville selling the Buick, Marquette, and Oldsmobile lines of motor cars, with Pontiac added before World War II. During the war years, the property also saw use as the Black Louis Filling Station.

In 1947, the Longstaff Motor Company took the property and were selling Pontiac and Packard automobiles. Later, in the 1950s, the building was the home to an automotive supply company.

It was after mid-century that the automotive use of the building ended and it was repurposed as Boyd Music, a popular business throughout central Illinois for their band instruments (including our daughter's). Since I took this photo, Boyd has moved into one of the old garage bays and now focus on instrument repair. Today the main part of the building is BLH Computers, a central Illinois business who sell and repair PCs.

Founded in 1825, the City of Jacksonville is the seat of Morgan County. The city had a population of 17,616 at the 2020 census.

Uncarina grandidieri is a most attractive plant. Deciduous shrub or small tree to 25 ft, trunk up to 1ft in diameter. Abundant water when growing, keep on the dry side when dormant.

The flower resembles a large Petunia in form and is bright yellow with a dark throat, as in the Thunbergia alata. The stems are stout and become thickened with age. The hairy leaves resemble those of the cotton plant. They are sticky to the touch and yield a musty odor when rubbed. The leaves are deciduous during the winter resting season. Fruit has small inwardly pointed barbs mounted on 3/4 in pedicels. Don't touch the fruit unless you want to spend time trying to remove it from your fingers.
