4000 B.C. The highly advanced, utopian civilization of Atlantis, situated just beyond the Pillars of Hercules on a series of concentric lush islands, was swallowed up by the ocean over the course of several centuries. First the streets, then the urban houses and finally the temples located on hill tops slowly sank beneath the warm turquoise sea.
Everybody was wonderfully relaxed about the whole thing - it was a most delightful geological experience. In the picture, we see a young Lady enjoying a sea bath in her inner courtyard while sipping a Strawberry Daiquiri.
When the end came, everybody climbed into papyrus boats, followed the ocean currents, and resettled on the island of Mauritius, on account of the color and temperature of the water and having fallen in love with lazy afternoon baths in warm turquoise seas. Here they lived happily ever after.

The continent of Atlantis was an island
Which lay before the great flood
In the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.

To the East Africa was a neighbour,
Across a short strait of sea miles.
The great Egyptian age is
But a remnant of The Atlantian culture.
The antediluvian kings colonised the world
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from far Atlantis.
Knowing her fate,
Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth.
On board were the Twelve:
The poet, the physician, The farmer, the scientist,
The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends.
Though Gods they were -
And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind
Let us rejoice
And let us sing
And dance and ring in the new Hail Atlantis!

At the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Florida you'll find the actual Space Shuttle Atlantis displayed in an awesome way.
It's immense size had me asking one of the staff members, "How did they manage to get it in the building?"
The answer was simpler than I thought. They rolled it through the one unfinished side of the building, lifted it onto its supports, and then finished the construction. How cool is that?
Loved the time I spent here. Brought me back to when I visited as a little boy on a family vacation shortly after the Apollo Space Program ended oh so many years ago...

Seeing the first pics of the new underwater City sets put me in an aquatic mood today. A one-person biomorphic sub with mutli-use arms (camera, rock drill, grabby hands, lights). When you're in the mood to just jump in the cockpit and drift along with the current for a while. There's a small cargo bin for stashing whatever you find on the ocean floor, be it treasure, samples or discarded rubbish.
The cockpit was one of those tablescraps that you have sitting around for ages, waiting patiently for an new idea.

This is the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. One of the largest "island resorts" in the world, if not the largest.
I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of the resort before...until it loomed large on the horizon early in the morning. But to the North Americans on board, this is a famous and much publicised resort.
