I managed to fall in love with at least one dog. A Husky-hound mix in the team of Doug Butler from New Haven Vermont.
This abandoned bus stands at Hito Cajón (Portezuelo del Cajon), a border pass between Chile and Bolivia at the altitude of 4479 meters. This time I found it especially surreal: I got stuck there for 5 hours and I wasn't able to enter Chile, because Chilean authorities closed the border due to snow - which as you can see, was barely there.

47812 "Pride of Eastleigh" hammers up Narroways Junction in Bristol. Built at Brush Falcon Works in 1964, it also carried the numbers 47 239 and 47 657. It currently survives with the Rail Operations Group.
At the local Rovers Soccer Club. I did say at and not in. Maybe next time. Being somewhat overdressed mid afternoon and mid week, I did not want to 'show up' the ladies inside.
A few weeks ago, a couple people did pics of themselves at the office, wearing pretty skirts and cute shoes.
I'm a SAHM, so here is my "office" :-) This is about as dressed up as I ever get. Two of my kids are at school. You'll just have to imagine that they're surrounding me, asking for snacks or homework help.

It was getting late and the sun was gone. All of the elephant families had moved out of the Amboseli swamps to feed except these two bulls who had been fighting on and off for at least two hours.
It was a beautiful morning at Kynance Cove, Cornwall in late September 2017. The wind was blowing, the gulls were flying and no humans could be seen. I loved the different shades of green in the hills and blue in the water.
Those Days are hard for us humans. The Coronavirus COVID19 is spreading around mother earth. All we can do is keeping up with the social distance and continue to stay at home! Still - i hope the tiny helpers can put a smile on your face for a few seconds! Stay at home and healthy! Alle the best to you!

After 10 days of gloomy weather I expected more of the same on the first day of my weekend, Fri 4.24, however it turned out to be a spectacular day. As luck would have it I had chores to do and wouldn’t be able to get out for any pictures until Saturday. Looking at the weather forecasts it appeared I might be in luck as my weather app was showing another day of clear skies. As it turns out that is exactly what happened. After waking up and finishing up my final chores and did some checking and discovered the south freight out of Fairbanks was running very late. The train was re-crewed at Hurricane, MP 281.4, and had departed at 0830. It was currently 0915 and my goal was to catch the train at MP 206.4 as they emerged from the woods with Denali standing tall in the background. I live in South Anchorage, roughly at MP 105, so I needed to go north 101 miles before the freight traveled the 76 miles south to arrive at the same destination. By the time I left my house it was 0920. It was a calculated risk but I was fairly confident I could beat the train here. I also knew the train had to traverse a few slow orders so that was in my favor. Luck was on my side, but just barely, I arrived at my desired location at 1100 and the train rolled past at 1105. Pretty good timing I say. As this was the only train on the system, I headed for home. Of course that was the same direction the train was heading so I was able to capture a few more shots along the way. This shot shows Denali and Hunter with the train. Earlier I posted a shot with just Denali and the train. I think I like this shot a bit better. At 20’308 tall Denali stands tall and dominates the background.in either view.

Handheld at 1/15 second wide open. It became very dark very suddenly in the last minute before totality, which lasted 1 minute 35 seconds at this location. Camera angle
reminiscent of "The Third Man" movie seemed necessary for the composition.
At the last exit off my favorite U.S. highway—US-64 East, between Rocky Mount and Manteo—just after crossing the Croatan Sound… Although my destination is usually just a few miles ahead (Manteo, Nags Head, etc.), I always stop here to enjoy the sunset.
I don’t know why I love driving this particular stretch of highway, but each time, I experience a strange fusion of anticipation, freedom, and joy—tinged with a quiet melancholy. Perhaps it’s the weight of past travels along this same path, the moments left behind, pressing so heavily that they become something resigned yet strangely poetic.

While walking the Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail with a view looking up and to the north at nearby coast redwoods in Redwood National Park. While I couldn't capture the entire height of these two nearby redwoods, from base to tree crown, I attempted to capture as much as I could. The idea being that the tree crowns with the skies above would be the focus. The tree itself though would be a leading line looking up into the image. I did though get close enough to the trees so that one could the details in the bark as part of the image captured.

The windmills at Kinderdijk are a group of 19 monumental windmills in the Alblasserwaard polder, in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Most of the mills are part of the village of Kinderdijk in the municipality of Molenwaard, and one mill, De Blokker, is part of the municipality of Alblasserdam. Built in 1738 and 1740, to keep water out of the polder, it is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands and one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. The mills are listed as national monuments and the entire area is a protected village view since 1993. They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. While staying at the Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails/NACO preserve in Menifee, California, we drove to the nearby Diamond Valley Lake to look at the beautiful view. On the right is the Don Owen Dam.
This lake provides water for southern California, delivering water south to San Diego and southern Riverside counties through the San Diego Canal. Flows also can move north through buried pipelines to Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles counties. Diamond Valley Lake - using only the force of gravity - has the capacity to deliver water to most of Metropolitan's 5,200-square-mile service area. (15-01-17-0438 to 0441)
I got a shot that was fairly close. Usually I see this Merganser at such a great distance that he is too small in the frame to post. But yesterday he was closer in the pond and didn't notice me hiding behind a bush (he takes off if he sees you).

Pictures with Zeke, Joaquin, Garett and Andy at their house. The kids are Jewish, Mestiza (Mexican Indian/Spanish) and Cherokee. I love taking pictures of siblings, but it was also neat to work with brothers. Somehow I managed to get a bunch of sisters together, but this is the first brother set. They're the same as girls in the sense that they are young and respond well to the camera. I like how two brothers can have the same parents but such different hair. I suppose that will also be more evident when I put my eventual self portraits up with Rachael's.
Joaquin was a total ham. You can see in some pictures he's literally dancing in the background. Or the foreground. But hammy kids always love the camera, so I love them. Zeke, the older boy was not as energized, but he had a quiet brooding intensity that photographed well, too. I've learned so much about working with young people on this project. I can say I'm a fan of their energy and passion.

Just 63 miles and one hour of travel time stands between Train 1340, the eastbound Borealis, and the journey's end at Chicago Union Station.
Here, the train is seen performing station work at Sturtevant, Wis., a station that primarily serves Racine County, plus some markets in southern Milwaukee and northern Kenosha counties in southeastern Wisconsin. Sturtevant served nearly 56,000 passengers in Amtrak's FY2024, relatively flat compared to FY2006 when the "new" station here was built and placed into service. Peak usage occurred in FY2017, when Sturtevant served nearly 84,000 passengers annually, often folks commuting to/from jobs at Johnson Wax in nearby Racine or Molson Coors in downtown Chicago.
