Caper White (Belenois java)
I was out the front with the camera, and chatting to Alan from across the street. This one flew past so I hared down the street, hoping it would land somewhere.
The first I have seen this season, I normally start seeing them in October.
The lower section of Kaiate (Te Rerekawau) Falls, near Tauranga, New Zealand. The falls are in a number of sections most of which can't be seen in this photo. The walk to bottom is definitely worth it.
Grass snakes (Natrix natrix)
Many thanks to Kevin Loader for suggesting the location - fascinating to watch these snakes at their nest

Something caught the attention of the Northern Hawk Owl as he was perched on the branch, for a brief moment he glanced up to take a look and that's when I snapped the shutter.
Yesterday evening at the Golden Gate. The fog had just started to ease up.
The finger of fog running along the headlands above is floating on top of what is termed a marine layer. The air directly above the water is cooled by the water and becomes denser than the warm air above it and so becomes trapped, and the fog then sits on this denser layer of air. As the air above cools (setting sun), the dense air escapes and the fog dissipates. This is what is happening in the picture, about 10 minutes before the entire bridge was shrouded in fog, but as the air cooled, it was rapidly disappearing with just this finger remaining.
The mountains on the Great Salt Lake have not had snow until this week - it's a beautiful addition to the winter landscape.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.
No comments today – just enjoy :-)
Emscher at sunset, Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
The Emscher is Germanys most polluted river, it be used for sewage until a underground sewage pipe is completed.
Du to the coal mining in this region only this form of sewage disposal was possible, but with the end of coal mining larger underground pipes are possible and the renaturation of the Emscher is possible.
What an eighty degree plus day looks like at the lake. A change of pace from winter views, but nothing fantastic. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

A westbound empty coal train soars across the famous bridge at Coopers, WV. For those looking for foliage shots, colors on the Pocahontas District are looking absolutely stunning right now.
