Ask restaurant was formerly a bank and the curved wall of the building is adorned with some of the 32 caryatids, or armless ladies, which continue along the adjoining terrace of shops. They date from about 1840 and are loosely based on similar columns at the Acropolis in Athens. We are so used to them but they are really quite a sight to behold and something that shouldn’t be missed if visiting Cheltenham.

This is my last photo for the group, 52 in 2015 Challenge.
Finished a little early this time.....it's been fun, for the second year in a row. Hope to see you all next year, as well as some new Flickr friends joining us!
Little Harold attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Harold asked, “Dad, why are you doing that?”
His father replied, “Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy.”
Harold, looking worried, said, “Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom ....”

When I asked her to describe herself, she said " ... gregarious, sensitive, hopeful ..."
Available light was from the kitchen windows. Attempting to get deeper richer tones, I shrank the aperture too much, with ISO 6400 a by-product, and, of course, a lots of noise! I have not tried to clean that up in these images. Instead, I resorted to sepia in two of the shots, resulting in the noise being slightly less obvious.
I find it quite challenging to attend to all the technical necessities while chatting with the subject. But, being housebound now, portrait and bird photography are two horizons for growth I can take on. Am sharing with you my maiden efforts, with all their imperfections. Elizabeth is beautiful and I hope to invite her to sit for me again after I have a little more experience with portrait photography.
Several years ago, when Earl and Daryl were starting their handyman business, they were asked to clear all the bushes, vines and trees away from this house. The owners wanted to fix it up and move in.
Earl and Daryl came out to the house and gave them a bid. When the owners asked why the bid was so high, Earl had to admit that the large pine tree right up against the house was problematic and that they would have to rent a bucket truck to take it down without damaging the roof. That sounded smart to the owners so they paid half the money up front so Earl could rent the bucket truck.
When the bucket truck arrived Earl told Daryl to get in the bucket and raise himself onto the roof. They would start on the left side for easy access.
“I don’t know how to work all the controls on this truck.” Daryl admitted. “You will have to do it Earl.”
“I’ve never used one either, but how hard can it be. Are you chicken, Daryl?”
Daryl, having the personality of a fourth grader, could not stand to be challenged. He climbed into the bucket, pushed the lever forward and put the bucket through the left side of the house.
“You idiot,” screamed Earl, “you are supposed to raise the bucket to roof height first! This is going to come out of your salary! Come on! I’ll buy you a beer while we discuss what to do.” Earl was getting mighty thirsty and too angry to work.
They walked away from the job and never went back. The owners who were out west for six months came back to find a mess and no Earl and Daryl to be found. They ended up donating the house to science.
The local environmental scientists got a grant of $184.50 to grow moss on the roof. The study is to prove that a moss covered roof provides more protection from the rain and sun than a regular tile or tin roof. They didn’t take into account how many years it takes to grow or that all the holes in the house could let in the elements and skew the data. I’ll let you know the results in several years.

I asked one of my students who comes from Arizona for a list of interesting places to visit. At the top of his list for the Mesa area was Organ Stop Pizza. This restaurant is built around a giant Wurlitzer organ. The pizza was decent but a trip to the Organ Stop is really all about the show put on by the organ. The instrument contains innumerable pipes and accessories like drums and accordions. Definitely a show worth seeing and hearing.

If you ask most gardeners, they might be quick to tell you that the thistle plant has no reason to be near their favorite plants. However I always have loved seeing the transition that the plant makes from bud to bloom to soft fuzzy bits. Once I did a bit of online sleuthing, I discovered that many critters enjoy this plant as much as I do.
Thistledown is the pappus of a thistle consisting of silky featherlike hairs attached to the seed-like fruit of a thistle.
Thistle flowers are the favourite nectar sources of the pearl-bordered fritillary, small pearl-bordered fritillary, high brown fritillary, and dark green fritillary butterflies.[8] Thistles and thistle-seed feeders provide important sustenance for goldfinches and the flowers are strongly favoured by many butterflies besides fritillaries such as the monarch, skippers, and the various types of tiger swallowtail. Hummingbirds will feed on the flowers of the biennial species, which feature large flowers, as compared with the perennial creeping thistle.

Created totally in D.D.G. text to dream A.I. from prompts and modifiers . I did it around 6 or 7 times by saving and adding new prompts and modifiers each time . could of gone on for ever but this one sorta appealed to me. If its art or not I'm not sure but I do find some of the results fascinating
