It felt so natural to leave the sidewalk to him.

Aside from the the three main deadlines in the T-Yard, there has persistently been another cut of locomotives next to the North Receiver. Mostly GPs and a B40 make up the "consist".

Back from my tour to Italy, scratches all over my arms due to spiky jungles which once were gorgeous gardens and more than a thousand kilometers in my back driving alone before sunrise, here I am loaded with pictures of abandoned places. I managed to visit 17 different abandoned places and I couldn't get into 4. This villa was my first.

The previous beach cottage probably with many family memories ends in a heap.

Progress, I guess.

Does this look like Oklahoma?

There's no siding on or near Chavez Siding Road, the only sidings on the Nogales are at Rico Rio and Santa Cruz which is north of Green Valley. Deceiving name aside the scenery through here is great, as the Sierrita Mountains provide a great backdrop for the Nogales, as it rolls out of one of the many small bends along the course of the seasonally dry Santa Cruz River.

4 Candles.

The Four Candles burned

slowly. Their Ambiance was so

soft you could hear them

speak...

The First Candle said, "I Am

Peace, but these days, nobody

wants to keep me lit." Then

Peace's flame slowly

diminishes and goes out

completely.

The Second Candle said, "I Am

Faith, but these days, I am no

longer indispensable." Then

Faith's flame slowly

diminishes and goes out

completely.

Sadly The Third Candle Speaks,

"I Am Love and I haven't the

strength to stay lit any

longer. People put me aside

and don't understand my

importance. They even forget

to love those who are nearest

to them." Waiting no longer,

Love goes out completely.

Suddenly...A child enters the

room and sees the three

candles no longer burning. The

child begins to cry, "Why are

you not burning? You are

supposed to stay lit until the

end!"

Then The Fourth Candle speaks

gently to the little child,

"Don't be afraid, for I Am

Hope, and while I still burn,

we can re-light the other

candles."

With Shining Eyes the child

took the Candle Of Hope and

lit the other three candles.

Never let the Flame Of Hope go

out of your life. With Hope,

no matter how bad things look

and are...Peace, Faith and

Love can Shine Brightly in our

lives.

Im Advent, zur Weihnachtszeit,

da war es hell im Zimmer.

Vier Kerzen waren aufgereiht,

“HOFFNUNG will ich geben,

mit meinem hellen Schein

soll’n alle Kerzen leben.

Hoffnung will ich hell verkünden

und alle Kerzen neu entzünden!”

Aside from some familiar features in the sky, where would you imagine yourself to be if you were immersed within this scene?

You'd probably be relieved to be breathing air! And wondering if you'll make it home.

Oddly enough, you're only about an hour's walk to a highway that will take you to Farmington, New Mexico. So many of the formations at Bisti seem to thumb their nose at gravity, at least for some period of time.

The scenery between Missoula and Thompson Falls is remarkable and this train is an easy and normally predictable chase. Today was no different. Up at sunrise from my campsite between Paradise and St. Regis, it was less than ten minutes and I was in a short chase to Thompson Falls.

It's Panorama time. This is the view from the lower lookout point at the Makapuu Lighthouse. This pano is made from 4 vertical shots, 6 exposures each. I'm not sure which I like better, verto or pano, but I'll give you guys both so you can decide.

Each frame is an HDR tonemapped from 6 exposures and blended with 2 of them. Then auto stitched in CS3. Curves, contrast, highlight/dodge tool, unsharp, and noise ninja. Oh and adjusted the Lens Distortion in cs3 to fix the curved horizon.

Aside from helping with in train forces and train handling, a rear DPU also allows for a well lit photo when you get a train from the wrong direction. In this case, an ES44C4 brings up the rear of an empty grain approaching Helena as the setting sun finds a small gap in the rain clouds.

Orange Beef with Noodles

by Weight Watchers Magazine

Course: light meals

PointsPlus™ Value: 6

Servings: 4

Preparation Time: 9 min

Cooking Time: 11 min

Level of Difficulty: Easy

We use flank steak, but you can also use boneless top round steak.

Ingredients

4 oz packaged rice noodles

2/3 cup(s) fresh orange juice

2 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

2 Tbsp sugar

1 tsp dark sesame oil

1 tsp cornstarch

1/2 tsp chili sauce, (chili paste)

1/2 pound(s) raw lean flank steak, trimmed of all visible fat and sliced thin across the grain

6 medium scallion(s), cut into 2-inch slices

2 clove(s) garlic clove(s), minced (medium)

2 tsp ginger root, minced, peeled, fresh

Instructions

Prepare the noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.

Combine the orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, oil, cornstarch, and chili paste in a bowl until blended and smooth; set aside.

Spray a large nonstick skillet with nonstick spray and set over high heat. Add the steak and cook in batches, until browned, about 5 minutes. Add the scallions, garlic, and ginger. Cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 3 minutes. Stir in the orange juice mixture and cook until the sauce boils and thickens slightly, about 3 minutes. Stir in the noodles; heat through. Serve at once.

Notes

When browning meat, make sure it is cooked over high heat in a single layer. If your pan is not big enough to accommodate all the meat at one time, cook it in batches, otherwise the meat will steam instead of brown.

Aside from the new units painted in Heritage paint schemes, there were also some actual heritage units in Spencer, North Carolina back in July 2012. All three locomotives were built in the 1950s. The two Norfolk & Western motors still run while the Norfolk Southern #1616 is solely on display.

Aside from the Opposing Solos, the Low Break Cross is perhaps the most exciting of the Blue Angels’ maneuvers. The Diamond arrives at center point from behind the crowd and then splits in opposite directions. After the split each pilot accelerates to 500 mph and turns around so all four jets cross over the center point nearly simultaneously. After this point, I get out from behind the camera to just enjoy it. This image from the Wings Over Wayne 2023 air show at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base picked up some amazing detail.

Wellington, Somerset, UK.

Partially obscured by trees and other vegetation and relegated to a non-productive slice of farmland, an aging dairy barn is seldom noticed by those who drive by on a dusty country gravel road. For those who do give it a momentary glance, many of them have probably never even entered a barn.

I have six growing grandchildren and none of them can remember ever being in a barn during their young lives. So when I talk about my farm upbringing and the importance barns played in my life, they react with a puzzlement that must mirror my dad’s observation about me when he talked about tying up sheaves of grain or spending the day behind a horse while plowing or cultivating corn.

As strong and vivid the memories of our agricultural background are to us older ones, it can make young folks shunt us aside as irrelevant as they fail to make a connection with our former world.

Like my parents before me, I find myself in a continual struggle to find common ground with the younger generations and their fascination with elements of life that hold no interest for me.

One helpful approach I try is to share relevant principles that under-girded the lives of common sense country folks for generations before we entered the age of the impersonal world.

Aside from staying up all night, what better way to start your day then SWAMPING with your friends?

There is mud up to my knees.

There is sunburn on my neck.

There are bruises on my arms.

And, in a way, I've never felt so alive.

Despite all of the homework and shit I have ahead of my schedule, I am pretty darn happy right now. The only thing that kind of takes away from that is knowing that it's over, but at least now I can have that memory to cherish.

Now that I have awoken my dream, it's time to return, back to reality.

That is what farmers called it when I was growing up.when their land was all plowed and ready for spring planting

I wish my Dad could come back and see the equipment they have today. He would be amazed.

This summer I allowed myself a museum's visit in the pandemic. The film was finished this week and developed today.

I love the New Museum on Berlin's Museum's Island especially for its traces of its former glory. Every visit lets me discover something new. This time, when it was a bit emptier I allowed myself the time to make pictures of when is aside from the actual museum's objects.

Aside from one short chase of them westbound a few years back, I've never really made much of an effort to find BNSF's Madison local on the Hanley Falls Subdivision. With a sunny Monday morning and nothing much better to do, I decided to meander toward Madison to see what I could find. I came across the train west of Boyd, but it was running east only as light power. The H1 leader looked pretty nice, though, so I made a little chase out of it, nabbing it here as they trundled past the large elevator that still stands in Boyd. I'm sure this was once a nice customer for the Minneapolis & St Louis Railway, but it appears that the switch has been removed for a while.

it looks like a nice day out there.

Aside from the main Palace, there is the House of the Turtles.

The Maya associated turtles with Chac, the rain god. According to myth, when the people sufferred from drought, so did the turtles, and both prayed to Chac to send rain.

The vertical columns or "rolled mats" running below the turtles is typical of the Puuc style.
