View of the Cerved towers in Milan

All,

Aside from being busy at work.... I am in the process of packing so I can move in several weeks. Ugh! Packing still is no fun. .... :/ but it will give me a chance to purge. So, having said that, it's not that I don't care or not that I don't love you anymore ;) it's just I am deep into boxes and all that goes with packing.

It's a very exciting time for me. I will visit as much as I can.. I promise!! :-)

Aside from its natural beauty, Slemish’s value as a heritage site is entirely bound up with its association with Saint Patrick. In local tradition, the mountain was the site of the saint’s slavery, where he spent 6 years herding livestock for Mulchi, the local chieftain.

Aside from the bit of chicken.

Our barbeque was a little spontaneous, so we just raided the freezer for any spare bits of meat. This is what we found.

It was accompanied by a delicious chilli and chorizo salad I knocked up on the spur of the moment. Obviously a Cinco De Mayo thing still going on there :-)

Set aside from the rest of the city, the area north of the Minster is where the officials that ran the cathedral built their large private residences. The building on the left is the new Minster Library, formerly the chapel of the Archbishop of York's palace, built in the late 13th century. There are glimpses through the trees of the city's Bar Walls, the last section to be made a public amenity in the 1830s to protect the seclusion of the cathedral's top officials.

Pencil drawing done over two evenings.

Aside our summer place, dordogne

Aside from a few Bald Eagles and one Red-tailed Hawk, my best views of the day were the scenery. It was pretty cold today and the temperature at the time of this photo was about 4ºF. There is always some open water here despite the temperatures. Hennepin County, MN 02/13/22

Street lighting aside, Paris’ reputation as the “City of Lights” is accredited to its position as the intellectual center during the Age of Enlightenment. “La Ville-Lumière” as it was then called, Paris was the birthplace of the Age of Enlightenment and it was famous as a center of education and ideas throughout Europe. Paris’ early adoption of street lighting probably also contributed to its “City of Lights” tag. But the city continues to uphold its reputation as the City of Lights, from a wattage perspective… Looking to capture the circling light atop of the Tour Eiffel, I took a sequence of 10 photos which I later combined in post-processing. Taken from the steps of the Trocadéro.

The cab of RLCX 3006 was laying in the weeds alongside a former Conrail-now CSX SD40-2 8883 in Minooka back in 2004.

A quick search of the RLCX roster did not find a 3006, so who knows what that thing used to be.

The cab windows looks like this thing may have been stored in Chicago, Baltimore, Seattle or Fallujah before being put out to literal pasture.

Aside from cropping all I did was added the Vivid filter standard on my iPhone.

Aside from the brand emblems on the fuel pumps, can you spot Dino, the mascot for Sinclair?

My friend and former colleague Louie L. moved to Oklahoma a few years ago to work as an Equipment Inspector for Holly Frontier, a refining company. A couple of years ago, Holly Frontier merged with Sinclair to become HF Sinclair. As we concluded a string of friendly emails at that time Louie humorously admonished me to "make sure you buy Sinclair gas." As proof of doing so I took this photo to send to him.

Aside from the modern park bench, this scene at Fairfax, MN hasn't changed much over the years, although the semaphore is not original to this location. An eastbound Twin Cities & Western train rolls through town on the former Minneapolis & St Louis Railway.

Aside from the B&W conversion and the horizon correction (must... have... virtual horizon), Straight Outta Camera.

Got in close with this shot, without D's plastic fantastic, me camera would have been drenched in salty sea water

I'm getting much happier with pre-visualising shots.

Still waiting for that D700 though.

Harris Beach State Park. Brookings, Oregon

Braunston aside, one of my favourite canalside spots locally is here at Badeys`s Wharf, Hillmorton, Rugby. The icing on the cake for me is the little Austin Truck, which adds such charm to the scene. Here we see Narrowboat PERIDOT making it`s way south on the Oxford Canal. Typically though just a minute after taking this photo, a gentleman got into the vintage vehicle and drove off!! I did take another picture shorlty after, but it wasn`t the same, and I gave up. I was tempted to get a pint and sit in the beer garden though!!

23rd August 2016

Northern Territory, Australia

It would have been stupid to have travelled all that way into the Red Centre and not put some time aside to visit the other big rocks – Kata Tjuta as well!

The group of 36 domes that make up the Kata Tjuta / Mount Olga formation and cover an area of 21.68 km² (8.37 sq. miles) are located 25 km (16 mi) to the west of Uluru. Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and Uluru form the two major landmarks within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The park is considered sacred to the Aboriginal people of Australia. They are composed of conglomerate, a sedimentary rock consisting of cobbles and boulders of varying rock types including granite and basalt, cemented by a matrix of coarse sandstone. The highest dome, Mount Olga, is 1,066 m (3,497 ft) above sea level, or approximately 546 m (1,791 ft) above the surrounding plain and 198 m (650 ft) higher than Uluru.

When we first visited Australia and the Red Centre back in 1997 the tourist guides always referred to these natural icons as “Ayres Rock” and “The Olgas” but I never knew the history of the area so look out… here comes the history bit!

Name

Kata Tjuṯa (Pitjantjatjara: Kata Tjuṯa, lit. 'many heads'; Aboriginal pronunciation: [kɐtɐ cʊʈɐ]), also known as The Olgas and officially gazetted as Kata Tjuta / Mount Olga (see below).

The arrival of the Europeans (1870s)

Europeans arrived in the Australian Western Desert in the 1870s. Uluru and Kata Tjuta were first mapped by Europeans in 1872 during the expeditionary period, which was made possible by the construction of the Australian Overland Telegraph Line. In separate expeditions, Ernest Giles and William Gosse were the first European explorers to this area. While exploring the area in 1872, Giles sighted Kata Tjuta from a location near Kings Canyon and called it Mount Olga, while the following year Gosse observed Uluru and named it Ayers' Rock, in honour of the Chief Secretary of South Australia, Sir Henry Ayers.

The other name, The Olgas, comes from the tallest peak, Mount Olga. At the behest of Baron Ferdinand von Mueller, Mount Olga was named in 1872 by Ernest Giles, in honour of Queen Olga of Württemberg (born Grand Duchess Olga of Russia, daughter of Tsar Nicholas I). She and her husband, King Charles I of Württemberg, had marked their 25th wedding anniversary the previous year by, among other things, naming Mueller a Freiherr (baron), making him Ferdinand von Mueller. The naming was his way of repaying the compliment.

On 15 December 1993, a dual naming policy was adopted that allowed official names consisting of both the traditional Aboriginal name and the English name. As a result, Mount Olga was renamed Mount Olga / Kata Tjuṯa. On 6 November 2002, following a request from the Regional Tourism Association, the order of the dual names was officially reversed, to Kata Tjuta / Mount Olga.

Was once someones treasured artefact but now cast aside waiting for another chance, felt quite sorry for this little doll situated in a stall of forgotten things.

Aside from the flying pizza slice- sorry, -'The Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought'- the only big problem I have with the ship design choices made in the sequel trilogy is the TIE Fighters. I get that they wanted to revive some aspects of the old designs for nostalgia sake but come on, a simple colour swap and reposition of engines really isn't enough changes for 30+ years of R&D in-universe. What's worse is that the design department were clearly thinking of some more drastic changes as evidenced in the art of TFA book but sadly none made it to screen.

With that said there's no reason why we can't invent our own variants so I took a stab at creating an alternate version inspired by both the Lambda & Upsilon shuttle with working S-foils and landing gear. I also figured it made sense for hyperdrive tech to get cheaper over time so I've elongated the 'eye-ball' to make room for one ;)

Thanks again to Bricks Feeder who's TIE Inspired this cockpit bubble design.

Aside from being lens magnets, Filipino children are virtual show offs when presented with an opportunity to be in front of the camera.

Aside from the lovely song of the night and the winds rustling through trees nearby, the night was relatively quiet. Up above, the Milky Way dominated the stellar heavens in silence. Stars twinkled and coursed through the sky in a cosmic waltz, displaying the motion of the night sky as the Earth slowly spun towards the morning light. The sight was absolutely beautiful.

With my camera at hand, I set out to capture the pristine beauty and structure of the galactic core, a sight that is truly marvelous to anyone who gazes upon it. Enjoy!

Aside from humans (genus Homo), the macaques are monkeys that are the most widespread primate genus, ranging from Japan to Afghanistan and, in the case of the barbary macaque (Macaca sylvanus), to North Africa and Southern Europe. Twenty-three macaque species are currently recognized, including some of the monkeys best known to non-zoologists, such as the rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta), and the barbary macaque, a colony of which lives on the Rock of Gibraltar. Although several species lack tails and their common names therefore refer to them as apes, these are true monkeys, with no greater relationship to the true apes than any other Old World monkeys.

In some species, skin folds join the second through fifth toes, almost reaching the first metatarsal joint.

Aside from the bark being fire resistant, these Giant Sequoias have another unique ability... neighboring tree trunks fuse together to form a single powerful trunk. Some of the largest Redwood and Sequoia trees began as two or more separate trunks and gradually fuse together over hundreds, or thousands of years.

Aside from a glazed roof, this church is enveloped, inside and out, by alternating runs and blocks of grey Riveo granite and white Peccia marble—both native to the region. The modern marble and granite Church of San Giovanni Battista (St. John the Baptist), designed by Ticinese architect Mario Botta (born 1943) is the main attraction for the little village of Mogno. The church was erected between 1994 and 1996 on the site of its 350-year old predecessor, which was levelled by an avalanche in 1986. This catastrophe also claimed several of the homes in the village, although luckily no-one was injured in this event. (text from Wikipedia)

Aside from the wide cab EMD and the non-operating tower, this is what I imagine Pennsylvania railroading to be, loaded coal trains easing their way down the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains.

The accordion styling is unique to my experience and quite eye catching. Two more towers are planned aside these two.

Aside from the the stars popping the tail is a little whiter and less saturated. The tail has some color to it, and likely that varies with recession from the Sun as the dust changes. Slightly cooler colors the other version being warmer. This version is also slightly less green, with the leading deep green of the comet still present but it fades closer to the comet head. Another version of the subjective "real".

It's worth setting aside at least 3 hours to really enjoy the scenic walks across this area and the unique walk through its nearby divergent tectonic drift of the Eurasian and North American plates. (See my other recent pics.)

Luckily the weather was lovely the day I was here although the contrast of bright sunlight and long dark shadows was a challenge for photography :-)

Now Japan are high mountains aside from summer

It is time for the season to move to autumn.

The subject also has a feature like this

Mountains deep mountain streams of rain in summer

The typhoon and the water is abundant and lively

.

Mock mountains for three days in a mountain stream in the early autumn

and continue taking like here almost every day

.

The woods and rocks are wonderfully covered with green moss,

I can feel the clear flow of water.

and draw me with overwhelming charm.

The Earth is alive in this glossy spectacle.

As a full-clearly memory that I realized

I want to cherish forever!

aside from the fact that I prefer to be behind the camera...
