♫ can you hear me? ♫ - Munn
A Home Song
by Henry Van Dyke
I read within a poet’s book
A word that starred the page:
‘Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage!’
Yes, that is true; and something more
You’ll find, where’er you roam
That marble floors and gilded walls
Can never make a home.
But every house where Love abides,
And Friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home-sweet-home:
For there the heart can rest.

Thank you for sharing a little bit of time with me and welcoming me back to art! It's been months since I've created anything, aside from building a new career and in a small way, a new home.

Hello All,
These are Foxglove blooms just after a heavy rainfall. (I got caught in the rain squall and had to stand under a tree for awhile)... Aside from a crop, this is SOOC.
Thanks a million for viewing and for your comments. I do LOVE hearing from you! I hope your day is a creative and happy one!

Joking aside. I don't know if this ruff male in nuptial plumage responds to the name "Willy". In wildlife, I have seen these funnily dressed birds only from a distance; this one in Münster zoo was very close. However, the environment was not photogenic at all, so I decided to free the bird by releasing it to a nearby nature reserve - at least virtually, by replacing the background 😄
Aside from a cubic inch-sized bumblebee that flew straight into my face before doing the same to a daff, this beetle was the first insect I spotted on a flower this year. I should open my eyes ;-)
(I hope you don't mind me de-marmiteing the daff :-)
Aside from Fogbound Blues, I also like to dance at Cafe Musique.
The live music is so beautiful there!

A SONG OF ETERNITY IN TIME.
ONCE, at night, in the manor wood
My Love and I long silent stood,
Amazed that any heavens could
Decree to part us, bitterly repining.
My Love, in aimless love and grief,
Reached forth and drew aside a leaf
That just above us played the thief
And stole our starlight that for us was shining.
A star that had remarked her pain
Shone straightway down that leafy lane,
And wrought his image, mirror-plain,
Within a tear that on her lash hung gleaming.
"Thus Time," I cried, '" is but a tear
Some one hath wept 'twixt hope and fear,
Yet in his little lucent sphere
Our star of stars, Eternity, is beaming."

Aside from the lovely framing just adored these two saplings in amongst the conifers. Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.

For the "Looking close... on Friday!" challenge "Fluffy"
A molt feather from a pheasant. The small soft, down feathers are the fluffiest things in our garden... and this feather has down and ordinary feather types together.
Have a wonderful weekend - stay safe and stay warm 😊

Among all the locations I went in my italian tour this is one of my favourites. I got in from the back in order to avoid being seen, but the jungle at the backyard was so thick i had some trouble going through. After shooting from all possible angles I still had some time left, so I stood there for a while, just staring and enjoying all those magnificent paintings which, for just one day, were displaying their beauty for me only.
"Aside from being among the tiniest songbirds, Bushtits are worth breaking out the binoculars for because what they lack in coloration, they make up for in personality. They live in flocks almost year round, foraging for food. They also use this social network for their safety. When they spot a hawk or some other bird of prey, they create what birders call the confusion cloud. They move closer together, repeatedly trilling, which creates a swarm or noise that confuses the predator", according to the book, Birds at Your Feeder: A Guide to Feeding Habits, Behavior, Distribution, and Abundance, by Erica Dunn and Diane L. Tessaglia-Hymes.
The News Said Lockdown so I decided to hoard locks to make sure I had enough. All laughs aside folks stay safe, don't panic, no need to buy out the stores, share with your friends and neighbors and be kind to others, make the World a better place and keep taking pictures!
Every major museum of modern art has a Serra. His rusty steelwork is a must-have. It's basic, bold, and very American.
The installation is an important aspect because it pushes the boundaries of the building. This massive sculpture, permanently on show at the Dia Foundation in Beacon (NY), looks like a ship. From this angle, it becomes very active, as if it's rocking the building to break free.

Aside from not being as crowded early in the morning, the early morning sun offers some very nice lighting as it shines though Grand Central Terminal.

A soft golden light after the sun had set down for the day.
A gentle reminder to keep aside the mundane daily work and tensions in us and just soak in the silence and peace in the evening for a good night sleep !
aside from some marmite daffodil interludes, I'm devoting this week here at Flickr to some people and a place I stumbled into and have fallen in love with.
Hopefully, I've got enough to tell their story... (eek :-))

Hard black crows bobbing
where once ran deep furrows
Frazzled oak silhouetted
in her ivy dress
Winter sun catches
dog fox through thin hedges:
Throws his long shadow
north to the emptiness
Farmhouse in tatters;
shuttered and battered
Even lovers don't go there
these last few years
Spider-web windows
on set-aside heroes
Standing lost
in a landscape of tears

This is a small church which has been abandoned for some years now. Apparently they had the intention to fix it once, as there were scaffoldings, but they may had run out budget, because they looked abandoned as well.
What makes it different from other abandoned churches is the amazing yellow light coming from aloft.
Aside from having won a ridiculous number of awards for being Britain’s Prettiest Village, Thornton Le Dale has featured on countless calendars and sweet selection boxes over the years. Quite right, too, we say – it’s gorgeous.
Located in North Yorkshire, about 12 miles from Scarborough, it’s awash with thatched cottages, idyllic gardens and a stream that runs alongside the street. And if it does get you thinking about milk truffles, vanilla creams and other goodies, then you’re in luck; wander along to the Square and you’ll find a shop called the Chocolate Factory, which stocks enough handmade treats to make Willy Wonka jealous.
Don’t worry if you end up over-indulging, though. You’re within the North York Moors National Park, so you could always walk off a few calories with a scenic stroll. The views are pretty spectacular
Aside from the lovely layer of mist across the countryside, the line of grass that runs across the field looks like a trail of fire, moving with the mist.
Running about 12 hours late, Northbound P052 soars over the classic concrete arch bridge above the James River on a sweltering May evening. Normally, 52 would cross this bright near the crack of dawn on its way to Lorton. However, a series of schedule lapses have placed this set a full half-day off the normally scheduled time slot. They would have to annul both trains a few days later to allow the schedule to get back to normal. That aside, we welcomed the opportunity to get a rare perspective of the Auto Train running this late in the day as it skirts the outer fringes of the city of Richmond.
Look aside and you might find the one. Not in front of you must be what you've come for. I was going home, few more steps and I'm in the city, when I looked around myself for the last time. Last glimpse of mist was waving me in goodbye...
I'm not a huge advocate of shooting "captured" birds, but I put this thought aside when I visited the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, Pa. This wonderful man-made habitat has over 500 birds with 150 different species. I saw birds that I've only been able to see on my Flickr friends site(s). A must place to visit if your passion is bird photography. This set represents only a sample of the birds I saw on my visit...more to come in the future...hope you don't get tired of my posting these wonderful birds !
American flamingos are unmistakable birds with a curiously shaped bill, slender necks and long, delicate looking legs. Their brilliant feathers range from a pale pink to scarlet red, with bright pink being the most common. Although they may appear strange, each feature on the flamingo serves an important function. Their long legs and necks allow the birds to wade and forage in water several feet deep. Their oddly shaped bill is perfectly suited to strain plankton and other small invertebrates from the water. The microscopic shrimp and algae in their diet is also the source of their iconic pink color – the pigment is deposited in their feathers as they grow and the brightness of the color indicates how well the flamingo was eating as the feathers were growing. This may be a sign to other flamingos of an individual’s fitness.
