This dress is not as yellow as it looks its more on the orange side of yellow if you know what I mean. Either way it didn't matter what I did I still look like a daffodil :-(

As UP 4014 rests at the training center in West Chicago, IL, Ed Dickens, the manager of the steam program and engineer of 4014, gets interviewed by the local new stations.
Not as sharp as I'd like (although I do like the motion blur of the wings), but I wasn't expecting all the action from the crows chasing the owls or for this one to fly from behind me and right at me.
I found myself in his flight-line as he headed for the safety of a tree behind me as he was being chased by a Crow.
(... and then he veered away from me to land on my car door in the shot a few posts back ...)

As we did like what we could see from the train we drove to Alexisbad the next day, to have a closer look.
This building here is the former recreation home of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (East Germany). Obviously it is no longer in use but still very beautiful.
We walked around a bit and also one of the walking trails.
By chance we also saw the steam engine again. That's why some of the pictures from Wednesday have a different date.

As some of you may know, I am crazy about tennis. And this year, I will be able to see a live match at a grand slam! Just booked my tickets last week! I'm so excited :D
As every intelligent person knows, Pop Art accounts for three distinct periods.
1. Starving Time. The interesting and fruitful period when a young but already genial artist makes his or her first paintings - the gratest masterpieces of all time. Everything is good but no money to buy some food.
2. Soup Era. This is when a young but already genial artist sells his first piece of great art, or robs a bank (I'm not sure which event has a greater mathematical probability), or just borrows some bucks from a mediocre and worthless person and buys some cans of soup. Of course, the artist documents such a great and rare event (of having canned soup). Many hungry artists follows the father-founder of Pop Art and document their food, drinks, whatever eatable, and personal effects too.
3. After The Lunch. A sated, full-bellied artist doesn't need soup cans for the time being, so he entertains himself right after the lunch, for instance, the way this photo shows. Finally the artist becomes, out of the blue, famous. He has a lot of social commitments now, so he has no free time to make good art. But he is rich now, and that is the Happy End of the story. I wonder if this photo can repeat the success of the artist? What do you think? Feel free to express your opinion in comments.
As the night began to appear and a last capture of the day was taken the battery went dead, then the deer came to drink and watched a couple of pelicans land and join the two already resting across the water by the shore. A look at the now darkened sky and listen to the sounds of night before stumbling back to the vehicle with camera and walking stick in hand.
As we were staking pictures of the sunset sky at the far end of Lake Louise toward British Columbia, I casually looked to my left and noticed this scene waiting for attention. The yellow trees high on the mountain are larch, an evergreen whose needles actually turn yellow in autumn.
As the sun sets in the background, the sunflower faces east, preparing for a new dawn. This exceptional specimen, alongside a quiet slough in Ward county farmland, embodied the eternal hope of all living things for renewal.
As I was driving into the parking lot at Matsqui Trail Park I wondered when I would see Golden-crowned Sparrows at the park again.

As I wandered through Maskavas Forštate in Riga, I came across this lovely furry friend, looking rather upset that his tram hadn't shown up on time.
Riga is a city filled with cats—I'm pretty sure there are more cats than dogs here. But what's special is that every cat in Riga is beautiful and, in almost every case, very friendly. This one was no exception, even if he seemed a bit grumpy at first glance.
As I've said before, one of the primary roles of a modern zoo is to educate people in animal welfare. In this case it involves messages about domestic cats. Everyone who owns a cat knows how true that saying is, "The streets are dangerous for cats."
You can enlarge this shot and read the various messages on the walls of Cat Alley. On the right, children have an opportunity to "climb like a snow leopard".
