As they run, their hooves barely touch the ground. Their movements are synchronized, as if they are dancing to an invisible melody, embodying the harmony of nature. The wildflowers they pass by paint the landscape and create a delicate contrast against the lush green grass.
These beautiful Arabians are bred by a friend who had me over for a day to photograph them in the gorgeous late summer pasture. I came away with amazing images and he got photos for his breeding portfolio.

Day 1 of 20 of albums that influenced my musical tastes. I'll start with Standing on a Beach. I remember listening this CD everyday in my high school years, in my house or in my friend's room, feeding our minds with these dark sounds and some bright musical notes, creating our perfect soundtrack for the teenager.
The album was titled Staring at the Sea in CD format in some countries is the first greatest hits album by the English band the Cure, released in the United States on 15 May 1986 by Elektra Records and in the United Kingdom on 19 May 1986 by Fiction Records, marking a decade since the band's founding in 1976. This shot was taken with my macro contraption (50mm f/1.4 lens, 47 mm extender tube on one side and a 250D macro lens on the other). That means the lens was almost touching the butterfly. I have no idea how they let me get that close, but these butterflies did not seem to be frightened.
As I age in the world it will rise and spread,
and be for this place horizon
and orison, the voice of its winds.
I have made myself a dream to dream
of its rising, that has gentled my nights.
Let me desire and wish well the life
these trees may live when I
no longer rise in the mornings
to be pleased with the green of them
shining, and their shadows on the ground,
and the sound of the wind in them.
― Wendell Berry
Late afternoon sun on the tall grass, curious cattle, a crow rides on a cow. Five minutes later the sun was gone and darkness ruled, there's no twilight in these parts.

WICKED GAME by CHRIS ISAAK
FIREWORKS IN MY MIND
I feel that I could lose myself
within the warm fold of your arms
the intensity you feel for me
ignites fireworks in my mind
within the recess of my heart
where past love left a void
there's a burning river running through
lighting fireworks in my mind
it's scorching everything I touch
and coursing through my veins
I close my eyes and try to breathe
but still see fireworks in my mind
I feel myself falling deep
in the garden of my dreams
this burning love; intense white heat
creates fireworks in my mind
I walk along my empty beach
and try to stem the flow
I don't want to feel this way
with fireworks in my mind
it feels too much; explosive love
it consumes me with it's madness
somehow you got beneath my skin
caused fireworks in my mind
I'm weakening now as you grow close
but I'm less when you're not here
the coldness that ached and broke my bones
is gone with fireworks in my mind
I need to choose; to do things right
but it's harder when you're here
you took my heart and made it yours
lit fireworks in my mind
If I could choose and have it all
I'd tell you not to go
don't make me choose between the moon and you
with fireworks in my mind

*truthfully so much has occurred in a short period of time. Lost one of my loves. Mind needed a distraction so I attempted a photo. Is a mood.
As well as the excursion, this day was a testing day of sorts.
Got a new backpack a few weeks ago to carry gear (Mindshift BackLight). Check! Carried some extra gear just to add some weight and it felt great.
Got some new boots this past week that are water proof. Double check!! Feet kept dry.
And wanted to test using my Canon wide angle on the Sony camera. Autofocus speed is not great, so switch to manual focusing which isn't a big deal for landscapes. Focus peaking makes it easy. Check!
A good day :))

As is often the case it's worth looking behind you.....I was set up on another composition and happened to turn round. From my angle these 2 birches seemed to intertwine as if they were performing in front of a rather straight and stiff audience! Despite the lovely frosty conditions at the time, this was the first image of the day and the only decent one I made - funny how sometimes you just don't see things despite beautiful conditions!
As we walked across a small bridge at Hall Memorial Park, we spotted this Crow. He was walking back and forth on the bridge as he grappled with a piece of food. Now you know how this works, you never miss an opportunity for an up close and personal picture. We were not sure what he was having for lunch, but it made for an interesting image.
As the heavens prepare for an imminent downpour, nature paints a breathtaking scene in the mountains of Tuscany.
Italy experiences a period of intense rainfall as dark clouds dominate the sky. The relentless downpour transforms the landscape, turning streets into temporary rivers and fields into saturated patches of earth. People navigate through the rain, seeking shelter and utilizing umbrellas and raincoats to stay dry. The heavy rainfall showcases the power and unpredictability of nature, reminding us of our vulnerability in the face of natural forces.
As the sun rises majestically behind the clouds, a solitary figure on the rocks contemplates this dazzling spectacle. Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur.
As I was trying to get to sleep last night this storm cloud rolled in over my house. So between 3-5am I was out in the back yard doing what most normal people do at that hour :)

Shrouded in golden leaves,
we wait.
The world doesn’t end at sunset
and only dreams
limit themselves to things.
Through a labyrinth of blank hours
time leads us on
as autumn falls
over our house, our patio.
Shrouded in a relentless fog
we wait, we wait:
nostalgia means to live without remembering
the word we are made of.

While I love shopping, baking, cooking and decorating for the holidays, I detest wrapping. This is the best I can do! I love using bags.....they have saved me at this time of year!
As seen on my drive and converted to monochrome.
I later cleaned it of web (they're back anyway) and the front bumper enjoyed a sanding disc prior to being re-painted.

As I had some time on July 20 and I had found myself located for work at the north of Brampton Ontario, I took the opportunity to drive away into the countryside to simply view the beauty of the fields. It was a wonderful drive, very relaxing and I stopped at a few locations to grab a few shots to share with you. Brampton is home to the largest Sikh community in Canada. You can get desi food everywhere in Brampton and let me assure you its wonderful as are the people !!!!!!!!! Anyone for some palak paneer ????
As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated
Stay safe
Riffelsee revealing his fascinating reflection on a calm & clear autumn morning. Perfect conditions for "His Majesty's" glorious appearance in the first light of the day.
But as autumn approaches, certain influences both inside and outside the plant cause the chlorophylls to be replaced at a slower rate than they are being used up. During this period, with the total supply of chlorophylls gradually dwindling, the "masking" effect slowly fades away. Then other pigments that have been present (along with the chlorophylls) in the cells all during the leaf's life begin to show through. These are carotenoids they give us colorations of yellow, brown, orange, and the many hues in between.
The reds, the purples, and their blended combinations that decorate autumn foliage come from another group of pigments in the cells called anthocyanins. These pigments are not present in the leaf throughout the growing season as are the carotenoids. They develop in late summer in the sap of the cells of the leaf, and this development is the result of complex interactions of many influences - both inside-and outside the plant. Their formation depends on the breakdown of sugars in the presence of bright light as the level of a certain chemical (phosphate) in the leaf is reduced.
But in the fall, phosphate, along with the other chemicals and nutrients, moves out of the leaf into the stem of the plant. When this happens, the sugar-breakdown process changes, leading to the production of anthocyanin pigments. The brighter the light during this period, the greater the production of anthocyanins and the more brilliant the resulting color display that we see. When the days of autumn are bright and cool, and the nights are chilly but not freezing, the brightest colorations usually develop.
She never wanted to be white picket fenced in
Her heart's like a feather in a Tulsa wind
A sea salt breeze will bring her to life
And all them other boys say she's a goodbye girl
She'll wreck your world
And leave before the mornin' sun
But here she is free layin' next to me
'Cause I ain't trying to tame her love
I keep the windows down and the wind in her hair
Keep her heart hanging on 'round every turn
She ain't scared to get tied down, scared to get burned
Just looking for somebody as wild as her
Wild, wild, yeah
Saw that highway unwind in her deep brown eyes
She saw a long stretch of dirt road dreamin' in mine
She ain't living for a diamond ring
Just living like the rock'n'roll song she sings out loud
We're burning it down
Blazing up a trail of smoke
Wherever we are, wherever we go
That's where she calls home
I keep the windows down and the wind in her hair
Keep her heart hanging on 'round every turn
She ain't scared to get tied down, scared to get burned
Just looking for somebody as wild as her
Wild, wild, yeah
Yeah, I ain't tryna fix her
I just wanna kiss her
Fuel a little fire in her soul
We don't say forever, but when we're together
I swear no, we ain't ever letting go
'Cause she knows
I keep the windows down and the wind in her hair
Keep her heart hanging on 'round every turn
She ain't scared to get tied down, scared to get burned
Just looking for somebody as wild as her
Wild, wild, yeah
... than just one day a year,
I have decided to make it a personal "Elephant Week 2019"
Elephants take such good care of each other,
so why couldn't we care for them
while we are the only reason for their declining numbers?
