I took this photo some years ago at a Dia de los Muertos performance by S.T. Shimi at Say Si. I never posted it due to the difficult lighting conditions...but today, after hearing of her untimely passing on December 2nd, somehow the images fit the somber mood that those that knew her now feel. May she Rest in Peace.

Rocío Rodríguez does abstract painting on long pieces of canvas, removes the canvas from the stretchers and makes abstract forms from it. She also inscribes less that complimentary messages on the canvas frame and presents them to us.

This man likes to draw flowers during the day. I wish I had gotten a photo with him and his drawing but he was a little sad today.
Because when Flo gave him some money, as she always does this when she sees him he says a long thank you back. Not today.

An Evening with Burt Bacharach.
Ritorna per il sesto anno consecutivo Arena Derthona, il festival di musica e cinema che in cinque edizioni ha portato a Tortona artisti di rilievo nazionale e internazionale. Quest’anno alla rassegna, che si tiene dal 16 al 18 luglio 2015 nella suggestiva cornice di Piazza Duomo a Tortona, si aggiunge un’esclusiva serata di anteprima: protagonista Burt Bacharach che lunedì 13 Luglio apre Arena Derthona 2015 con il suo unico concerto nel nord Italia, “A Life In Song - live in concert”.
C’è chi dice che la musica di Bacharach aiuti ad evadere dalla realtà, ma i suoi capolavori sono tutt’altro che semplici. Una delle caratteristiche che ha portato Bacharach ad emergere è stata la sua creatività inesauribile: ha dato alla luce dozzine di classici intramontabili, in grado di competere con le opere di Porter, Gershwin o Berlin.
Il suo repertorio – 48 successi da Top 10, nove Numeri 1 e oltre 500 composizioni, 3 Oscar, 6 Grammy – continua ad ottenere riconoscimenti discografici e ad offrire intramontabili modelli creativi. Il suo pubblico abbraccia diverse generazioni e vede l’artista come uno dei più grandi compositori di ogni tempo, con una personalità da eroe carismatico, che gli ha consentito di superare i limiti generazionali scrivendo alcuni fra i più acclamati brani nella storia della musica.
