Original gilding and imposing carved lion’s heads on the handrests distinguish this armchair. It is almost identical to a pair of armchairs made by Herter Brothers for the Red Room in the White House in 1875 during Ulysses S. Grant’s administration. The reproduction blue brocade upholstery is based on a description of the chairs listed in a bill for the White House commission.

Este acto tuvo lugar sobre la monumental instalación “Kings of Arms Ballroom” del artista Rashaad Newsome, concebida específicamente para el atrio del museo. Organizado por Silvi ManneQueen, el OVAH Ball contó con la participación de MikeQ como DJ, Matyouz LaDurée como MC y comentarista, así como un panel de jueces formado por iconos internacionales de la escena Ballroom como Archie Burnett Ninja, Leiomy Maldonado, Twiggy Pucci Garçon, Rheeda Ladurée y Kitana Mizrahi.
