Processing some old stuff before new adventures arise...

Early morning shot from Maison D'Hotes Hiba hotel rooftop. About 150km south of Ouarzazate. About 150km north of the Algerian border. These are the last mountains before the Sahara begins. When you get past these mountains, you get sand. Lots of sand. For thousands of kilometers. If you go south from here, you get the Algeria sand, the Mali sand, the Mauritania sand and it becomes green again near Ivory Coast. About 2500km from this rooftop.

Mai Po Marshes (米埔濕地) is a nature reserve located near Yuen Long in Hong Kong. It is part of Deep Bay, an internationally significant wetland that is actually a shallow estuary, at the mouths of Sham Chun River, Shan Pui River (Yuen Long Creek) and Tin Shui Wai Nullah. Inner Deep Bay is listed as a Ramsar site under Ramsar Convention in 1995, and supports globally important numbers of wetland birds, which chiefly arrive in winter and during spring and autumn migrations. The education center and natural conservation area is 380 acres (1.5 km2) wide and its surrounding wetland has an area of 1500 acres (6 km2). It provides a conservation area for mammals, reptiles, insects, and over 350 species of birds.

The reserve is managed by the World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong since 1983; the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has responsibilities for the Ramsar site as a whole. Deep Bay faces threats, including pollution, and rising mudflat levels that perhaps arise from intense urbanization, especially (in recent years) on the north, Shenzhen side of the bay.

In recent years, it housed over 55,000 migrating birds, including Saunders's gull (Chroicocephalus saundersi) and a quarter of the world's black-faced spoonbill (Platalea minor) population. It also has inter-tidal mangroves along with 24 traditionally operated shrimp ponds (called Gei Wai locally) to provide food for the birds. Mai Po Marshes receive 40,000 visitors annually.

While the area was taken out of the Frontier Closed Area on 15 February 2012, Mai Po Nature Reserve remains a restricted area under the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance (Chapter 170) in order to minimize disturbance to wildlife.

In 1912, physicist Theodore von Kármán first described a process that makes long, spiraling cloud patterns in the sky. These so-called "von Kármán vortices" arise when winds are diverted around a blunt, high-profile area, often an island rising from the ocean. The alternating direction of rotation in the air forms swirls in the clouds.

Satellites regularly spot these wind and cloud patterns around the world. On May 24, 2017, the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite captured a natural-color image of such swirls on the lee side of Guadalupe Island. The volcanic island rises from the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Baja California, Mexico.

If a prophet arises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,

2 And the sign or the wonder he foretells to you comes to pass, and if he says, Let us go after other gods—gods you have not known—and let us serve them,

3 You shall not listen to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 ( AMP )

...minimalism in long exposure mode..

I found my way to the coast.... to the town of fair Ballasimo... and I noticed a carnival was just starting to wind down.... I also noticed some armed men.... they seemed to be searching for someone... probably me... I looked around and noticed a little stage that was closed up for the evening... so I hid behind the curtain and hoped that the men would pass by without peeking in.... I was wrong... they all pointed to the stage and headed in my way... I looked around and saw there were still people getting reading to leave.... and just as one of the men was about to open the curtain I opened it first and shouted at the top of my lungs....

"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east and Juliet is the sun!"

The man was startled and started to take a step towards me when suddenly several people thought another show was starting…. They all started to gather in front of the stage and started to yell at the men to sit down so they could all see… So I continued….

“Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, who’s already sick and pale with grief that thou her maid art far more fair than she. Be not her maid, since she is envious; Her vestal livery is but sick and green, and none but fools do wear it so cast it off.”

At this point I walked to the edge of the stage and looked up at the imaginary balcony and at the invisible… yet beauteous… Juliet.

“It is my lady, O, it is my love! O that she knew she were! She speaks, yet she says nothing; what of that? Her eye discourses, I will answer it but I am too bold: 'tis not to me she speaks.”

I then look over and see the men have accepted the fact that I’m a carni-actor and have decided to look elsewhere for the pirate that they seek :)… As soon as they are out of sight I decide it’s time for the curtain to close… but as soon as I start pulling them shut the audience starts to boo…. loudly… I don’t think I have any choice but to continue…

“Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, having some business, do entreat her eyes to twinkle in their spheres till they return. What if her eyes were there, they in her head? The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars, as daylight doth a lamp. Her eyes in heaven…”

I seem to be a hit…. But I can’t keep up this charade and these are the only lines of Shakespeare I know…

“Would through the airy region stream so bright that birds would sing and think it were not night. See how she leans her cheek upon her hand… O that I were a glove upon that hand, that I might touch that cheek!”

With that I look around and bow dramatically… the crowd cheers and shouts… I bow again and take two steps into the stage area and pull the curtains closed… I smile and once again disappear into the shadows of the approaching night… and make my way down to the docks to find a way back to my ship… :)

Arise!, I exclaimed, and they rose.

Arriben a mesurar uns 4 centímetres. Tenen una línia en forma de V al tòrax. L'abdomen està dividit en segments molt evidents. El cos és de color gris o marró. Tenen sis potes llargues i dues antenes curtes.

They are usually brown with clear or brownish wings. They feed on nectar and are active throughout the year. Tipula maggots are sometimes known as "leather jackets" due to their tough skin.

Technical description: Discal cell present ; M3 arises from M4 ; all tibiae spurred Antennae with whorls of long hairs. Rs usually long ; Sc ends far from base of Rs ; cell 4 always petiolate ; body colour usually grey, brown or dull yellow, rarely black ; praescutal stripes (when present) usually dull, rarely slightly shining.[citation needed]
