Indulge me. I never tire of telling the story of the abandoned oil refinery on what is now the Canvey Wick Nature Reserve. Even after exploring the place many times over the years, a new diversion presents itself and who knows what you may find. Here was the discovery at the end of my walk through the reedbed yesterday . And what’s it worth? Well not much maybe. Sometimes a photo is just a photo. Or maybe a little reminder that our dominant presence on this planet comes with responsibilities.

(Some manipulation in Affinity Photo. And I finally worked out how to add a URL to text in Flickr !)
Two cheetahs standing gracefully on a rocky outcrop in the Serengeti, surveying the vast savannah. Captured in beautiful natural light, the scene highlights their sleek forms and the endless African plains stretching behind them.
Last Sunday, my wife and I visited Spurn Point - a narrow stretch of land that juts out into the Humber Estuary.
As well as the nature reserve, which is popular with bird watchers, there is a lighthouse and a lifeboat station at the end of the 3 mile stretch.
Whilst walking down towards the lighthouse, you can see the remains of sea defences used to try and prevent coastal erosion.
With the sea being a little choppy, I tried to get the waves crashing against the sorry-looking sea defences.
I think it's a spoonbill! ;-)
The bird was above a covering over a sanctuary in Wildlife Habitat (Port Douglas)
These are commonly seen at the edges of swamps and wetlands. they are often curious and this on sat on a fence in front of me not sure what to make of this object poking out of the window of the car

The field at the back of my house has been lying fallow for the last 3 years. The wild flowers have taken over.

While driving through Fort William on our way to the Isle of Skye. my wife and I made a brief stop at Corpach to see the boat wreck on the bank of Loch Linnhe. luckily it wasn't so cloudy that you couldn't see the top of Ben Nevis.

Hopefully I may be forgiven for overdosing on Bluebells today. This may be it.....(he lied).
A macro shot I think to wrap up, probably in the coming week.
(Some enhancement here in Affinity Photo)
An early morning walk in Morecambe, Lancashire.

The bush in Central Victoria is very dry at the moment. Few birds were seen that day but the browns and grays made for an interesting background!
Last month, I attempted to photograph the milky way using a 50mm fixed focal length lens. My chosen subject was a tree in top of a hill within a gap (similar to sycamore gap in Northumberland) located just outside of Castleton.
My wife originally spotted this composition months ago, so I thought I'd have a go at aligning the milky way behind the tree.
I'm pretty pleased with the overall result though.
