I was asked to something a little wacky, so i did.
Multiple exposures x3 images blended in camera, I only had a couple of chances of getting this surfer in the existing sunlight image from the previous exposure which i think ive just about done. 10 stopper used for this.
1.
lack of good sense; foolishness.
"an act of sheer folly"
2.
a costly ornamental building with no practical purpose, especially a tower or mock-Gothic ruin built in a large garden or park.
folly could sum up my visit here on thursday night
i had hoped to get there to catch the light coming through the windows of the building, but on my climb up the hill i got stuck in a bog with mud up to my knees,
i eventually got my feet out
as i started to climb up i stood in umpteen cow shits missed the composition i had went for eventually got a shot i was happy with and climbed back down in the dark standing in more cow shit then forgot where i had parked
sheer folly
A bit surprised to receive a message from Amateur Photographer Magazine on flickr. I've been submitting photos to the AP group for years but wasn't sure if it was genuine. Turns out it is, received the magazine this morning. First time having a photo used in a photography magazine :)

Every now and then you see something on Flickr that really sparks an idea. Thanks to CC Camerawork for sharing this shot and for the lighting tips...⬇️

But I kept the blowball intact, it reminded me of a disco ball...!

Canon EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. Single shot, Manual Focus, blasted with light, +3EV on Flash, lamp to lower left, Raw File into Affinity Photo but I was pretty much there with exposure. 😎

My friend Val lays down the law to Freddie. He briefly considered disobedience but he can detect a faint aroma of sausage. Val isn't a lady to mess with...

I'll pause the Freddie and Gus series for now. A series to celebrate Gus's 2nd birthday, see posts passim. ⬇️

Val, by the way, has been Gus's forever owner for about 18 months now and he couldn't be in more experienced or loving hands. But where was Gus you may ask? Well, on this one only his inquisitive nose was in the frame so he's been gently cropped out! I'll make it up to him another day.
The marvel is not just that some of the oaks and beech of Epping Forest date back many hundreds of years but also that they continue to flourish without a fully functional trunk. I can't guess the age of this oak but note the top trunk growing out of apparently nothing.
How amusing I thought to display a recent shot of mine over 3 devices, then take another shot. I realise the possibilities here are infinite...

Easter week and very cold, snow on the far bank and up the hill towards the halls. Snow on Easter Monday with more yesterday; the coldest Easter for many years. Bright and sunny today but still cold for the time of year. The park was very busy with couples and families enjoying the good but cold weather. A gentle NNE breeze but nothing like the strong wind of yesterday.
Turnstone scouring the volcanic beaches on Tenerife to find breakfast. They do surprisingly well on this apparently barren landscape but everywhere there are rock pools and crustaceans smashed against the rocks.
A little pot of blueberries.

I've had a Canon 100mm 2.8L IS for a long time and decided to purchase some extension tubes to get closer to some smaller subjects. I found this little critter on the bathroom window-sill and thought he'd be good for testing things out.
I went 'all-in' and ended up adding all three extension tubes (36mm, 20mm and 12mm) - 'finding' the spider in the frame and focussing on him before he jumped away was quite a challenge. The spider was about 5mm long and I spent quite a lot of time thinking I'd lost him, then trying to get him back onto the leaf, where I wanted to photograph him!
To be honest, I don't think there was much method or know-how that went into this picture - I decided to go for the maximum magnification available and see what happened - I'm pleased with the result and looking forward to developing my techniques a bit more!!
I still have a few panoramas to go... this one is the centre of Macclesfield, with the Town Hall straight ahead. Notice how there's 'half' a person on the right, and a woman and her 'ghost' on the left. The joys of panoramic mode!
Thanks for looking :)
The River Thames has been worked since Roman times. And so it continues…
I have just about managed to include every major local 20th or 21st century industry in this view. Oil refinery, tank farm, power station and now container shipping. Behind me there are cattle grazing.

From a long walk in Blidworth woods in Nottinghamshire on Friday morning when heavy fog provided heaps of atmosphere.
It was probably my most productive day of photography ever, I reckon I've got a good few keepers from 2 hours of exploring.
I've been wanting to photograph misty trees for ages so this was my first go.
Taking a view. A monochrome view. I'm supposed to be somewhere but a short pause by the side of the road won't hurt. Anyway, I walked out of the house with my camera. What did they expect?

The sun setting behind Renfrew town hall
I could see the colours in the sky changing from my front room so I grabbed the camera and ran round to the town hall as I knew the sun would be setting behind the building
I had just grabbed the camera and had no tripod i wanted to keep the iso as low as possible and i had a shutter speed of 1/20 so I propped myself against a tree and fired off a couple of shots handheld
I loved how the colours in the sky matched the face of the clock

Affinity Photo in fact. Unashamedly playing about with split toning and the blue saturation.
