Having just swapped ends at Bealville, the BNSF employee appreciation special makes its way back home to Bakersfield on its first of three trips planned for the terminal. The sun has set low and cast harsh shadows across the hills. Pretty soon it will be dark and the naucternal railroad that Tehachapi is known for will come alive with traffic.

i dressed this kid up for thespian appreciation as the sexy sax man. he learned careless whisper in about 30 minutes (he doesn't even play the saxophone) and basically ended up being the best sax man i could have asked for
we had a senior assembly and he proceeded to jump atop one of the theater seats and serenade the class, as any true sax man would do
DLIFLC celebrates 2nd annual Faculty Appreciation Day ~
More than 200 faculty and staff members showed Thursday on Soldier Field at the Presidio of Monterey for a barbecue sponsored by the Command Group in honor of the instructors who work so hard teaching students some 17 different languages. The tradition stated with the arrival of DLIFLC Commandant, Col. Phil Deppert, who says that the "faculty are my troops." (U.S. Army photo by Natela Cutter)

Rosy: February 10th is National Umbrella Appreciation. I don't think that there is anyone who does not appreciate an umbrella!
Holly: Umbrellas are a wonder of craftsmanship.
Ivy: I really should be singing my Rainy Day Parade Song but I don't want to rain on Rosy's parade!
Rosy: You are a special girl Ivy!

Royal Navy Airfield assault landing RNAS Yeovilton 'Air Day' July 1996
I thought I would show you another side to this fantastic event. Here all the choppers are returning to the western end of the field from where they launched. You can get a flavour of how close to the action the crowd is and a sense of our obvious enjoyment.
Interesting also, that back then in pre-digital days most either don't have a camera or have taken a couple of snaps and put them down (I can only see one). If that was now there would still be hands in the air holding all sorts of cameras taking video or digital photo's. How times change?
If you get the chance - don't miss it! It's on Saturday 13th July 2013
A mention in a comment on Facebook from some of the BMX lads from when I ran the BMX club at Kirby Stadium after the founders the Swallows pulled out.
