Day 27 of 365 - End of Month
I worked morning shift today. Although I worked morning shift last week, it still seems to give me problems - I don't really like waking up at 5:30 in the morning. So, I started the day off already expecting to be tired by shift change at 3:00. But, what I failed to consider was that the previous day was the end of the month. Now, for most people, that's not that big of a deal. You just flip the page on your calendar to the next month, and your digital clocks, cell phones, cameras, etc...just change the month themselves. Although this is the case at our hotel, we have to make sure all the accounting stuff is squared away and sent off to our corporate office. So, when my manager walked in, I was handed the remaining invoices to process. This usually isn't a big deal, but today everything combined was just exhausting.
Here I was, starting at 8:00, upgrading reservations arriving today and tomorrow, because the out-of-order rooms for kitchen tiling caused us to overbook on a couple room-types. On top of that the phones were ringing off the hook!!! I was SO GLAD whenever I got a hang-up call. I normally don't transfer people to "the 800-number" but I did to about 4 people today. One called me back, and said, "I'm more comfortable making my reservations with you." Luckily, I didn't have any availability...so it was a short call.
I finally finished the upgrading and the invoices. Then I realized I hadn't started a weekly report I do. But, since the GM is out of town and it's really not a critical report, I let the recipient of the report know that I'd send it to him tomorrow. In the midst of all this, a couple of us had ordered lunch from a restaurant we'd never been to that had given us some free entree coupons. (It's nice working at a hotel sometimes!) Someone else went to pick it up, and I got to eat it an hour and a half after it got there. After all this craziness, I decided to go home and do nothing-in-particular, as you can see in this photo.
And, what did I decide to do to make my day better? I went to watch Angels and Demons...and it was GREAT!!!
I desaturated it and added more noise (gaussian monochrome at 50%) in an attempt to add to the exhausted mood. It was lighted in my dark bedroom with my SB-600 Speedlight bounced from the ceiling at 1/16 power...ISO was at "Hi-1" (equivalent to 3200)
On the outskirts of the Vatican is that Castel Sant'Angelo. Not a very exciting shot, I was just trying to capture the building as a while and show off it's grandeur and scale.

This is an Ambigram that reads "EARTH". Based on the one from the book angels and demons, I made this while on vacation so I had to make it on what I had picked up at the PAB...
So it was made out of four dark red 8x8 tiles and 1x2 jumper plates, I just thew those white tiles on when I got home to see what it would look like.
For those of you who don't know what an ambigram is it is when a word looks the same upside-down.
