Esslingen war seit dem Zeitalter der Reformation überwiegend evangelisch geprägt.
Durch den starken Zuzug von Arbeitern in Folge der Industrialisierung des 19. Jahrhunderts und von Flüchtlingen und Vertriebenen nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg kamen wieder zahlreiche Katholiken in die Stadt. Durch das weitere Wachstum der Industrie in der Zeit nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg auch andere Konfessionen.
Gegenwärtig sind etwa 39 Prozent (35.100) der Einwohner Esslingens evangelisch und rund 27 Prozent (24.300) katholisch.
Daneben gibt es unter anderem eine griechisch-orthodoxe Gemeinde, Moslems, Juden und viele weitere Gemeinden in der Stadt. Esslingen hat traditionell Präsenzen vieler bibeltreuer Bewegungen wie Christadelphian.

In der Reichspogromnacht vom 9. auf den 10. November 1938 wurde die Synagoge im Heppächer geschändet. Jüdische Mitbürger wurden zur Vernichtung in den Osten deportiert.

Angeregt durch den Roman 'Lichtenstein' von Wilhelm Hauff, wurde das Schloss 1840-1842 im neugotischen Stil erbaut.
Zum Schlossgelände gehören der Gerobau, die Kapelle, ein weitläufiger Schlossgarten und der romantische Schlosshof.
In den restaurierten Gemächern des Grafen Wilhelm von Württemberg zeigt sich die üppige Pracht der spätromantischen Wohnkultur.
Das Schloss Lichtenstein ist auch bekannt als 'Märchenschloss Württembergs', da es in Baustil und Einrichtung die Romantik weiterleben lässt. So versteht es sich als eine Huldigung an das Mittelalter.

Schloss Lichtenstein – Das Märchenschloss in der Schwäbischen Alb
Das Schloss Lichtenstein ist kein historischer mittelalterlicher Bau, sondern entstand im 19. Jahrhundert zu einer Zeit, in der romantische Vorstellungen von einem ritterlichen Mittelalter überall in der Literatur zu finden waren. Nicht unwesentlichen Anteil daran hatte wohl Wilhelm Hauffs Erzählung „Lichtenstein“ die auf die gleichnamige Burg Bezug nahm, welche einst an dieser Stelle stand. 1840 bis 1842 wurde das neue Schloss auf dem Berg auf Geheiß eines Grafen erbaut, der sich eine standesgemäße Unterbringung für seine Sammlung von Gemälden, Waffen und Rüstungen wünschte. In den Folgejahren wurden auch diverse Nebengebäude errichtet.
Das heute im Rahmen von Führungen zu besichtigende Schloss entspricht der romantischen Vorstellung einer waschechten Ritterburg. Der Besucher kann hier die Waffenhalle, den Rittersaal, die Schlosskapelle, die Trinkstube und viele weitere Einzelheiten besichtigen. Der Schlossgarten lädt zum Spazieren ein und Ausstellungsstücke wie die historischen Kanonen versetzen den Besucher fast zurück in alte Zeiten.
Im neugotischen Stil erbaut besticht Schloss Lichtenstein durch sein malerisches Äußeres. Der hohe Turm, die Treppengiebel, die hölzerne Brücke, die kleinen Erker und Ecktürmchen – das alles entspricht zwar nicht im engen Sinn einer tatsächlichen mittelalterlichen Ritterburg, sondern kann eher als pseudo-historisch bezeichnet werden, bringt die Besucher aber gerade deswegen erst recht zum Träumen, da in diesem Rahmen all die romantischen Ideen über tapfere Edelmänner und holde Hofdamen greifbar nahe erscheinen.

Der selbsterklaerende Name [ Lichtenstein] in bedeutet "Licht ( hell-weiss) Stein."

Der Name Wolfstor stammt vom Aussehen der
verwitterten Stauferlöwen,
die eher mit Wölfen Ähnlichkeit haben.

Esta torre. Portal del final de la disnastía Staufer, es la más antigua y conservada torre de la ciudad. Protegía el paso desde la torre Obertor-vorstadt al centro de la ciudad. Los dos leones en cuclillas, son un bello ejemplo plástico de la época del románico tardío, los cuales anuncian a los visitantes, que la ciudad está protegida bajo la disnastía de los duques suabos.

The Wolfstor Gate Tower from the late Staufer period is the oldest remaining gate tower of the city. It once protected the entrance from the Obertor suburb into the medieval town centre. The two crouching lions, excellent examples of late-Romanesque sculpture, informed visitors and attackers alike that the city was under the protection of the Swabian Dukes.

La tour Wolfstor qui date de l’époque des Staufer est la plus ancienne porte encore intacte. Elle protégeait l’entrée par la banlieue du haut à la cité. Les deux lions couchés qui sont de superbes exemples de plastique de l’époque romaine tardive rappelaient aux visiteurs tout comme aux attaquants que la ville était sous la protection des ducs souabes.

Una volta serviva come porta che controllava l’accesso dal quartiere di periferia Obertor al centro città .I due leoni vigilanti che sono due esempi di plastiche grandi tardoromaniche ,preavvisavano sia i visitatori sia potenziali aggressori che la città era sotto il dominio e la protezione dei duchi della Svevia.

Well, it's the end of my trip! I hung out with my Helsinkian friends Susie and Reno the whole day walking (and eating) all around town, taking pics and later during the night (or wait a while ago!) clubbing at Lux and it was awesome! After a long week, the company of friends and lotsa dancin is unbeatable =)

Das Alte Rathaus wurde um 1420 als städtisches Kauf- und Steuerhaus errichtet und gilt mit seinem prächtigen Fachwerk-Südgiebel als Hauptwerk des alemannischen Fachwerkbaus. 1586 bis 1589 wurde vor der Nordseite durch Heinrich Schickhardt eine Giebelfront mit zierlichem Uhrentürmchen im Renaissancestil errichtet.

Die Spitalkelter wurde 1582 als Kelter des St. Katharinen-Hospitals, das etwa um 1811 abgebrochen wurde, erbaut. Zu finden als mächtigstes Bürgerhaus am Marktplatz.
An der Fassade des Gebäudes befinden sich das Reichswappen mit der Kette des Goldenen Vlieses sowie ein Relief der heiligen Katharina unter dem Spruchband Soli deo gloria.
Katharina ist zwischen zwei Säulen und mit dem Spitalwappen, Schwert und Rad dargestellt.
An seiner linken Ecke in etwa 3 Meter Höhe ist eine kleine schwarze Gestalt, das "Schwarze Männle", angebracht.
An der Südwestecke der Fassade ist das sogenannte schwarze Männle oder Keltermännle zu sehen. Es trägt ein Wappenschild und das Steinmetzzeichen Hans Flachterns. Auch das Baudatum ist hier abzulesen.

Österberg ist ein 437,9 Meter hoher Berg und ein auf diesem gelegener Stadtteil der Universitätsstadt Tübingen. Er liegt östlich der Innenstadt.
Der Österbergturm

wurde am 3. Juli 1891 als Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm auf dem östlich von Tübingens Altstadt gelegenen Österberg nahe dessen Spitze auf knapp 438 Meter Höhe eingeweiht.
Im Jahre 1963 vermietete die Stadt Tübingen den Österbergturm an die Deutsche Bundespost, die darauf einen Fernsehumsetzer errichtete.
Dazu wurde die Spitze des Aussichtsturms entfernt und durch einen Antennenträger ersetzt.
Die Gesamthöhe des Bauwerks beträgt seither 40 Meter.
Wegen der steigenden Zahl von Mobilfunkantennen und des daraus resultierenden Platzmangels wurde der Österbergturm Ende der 1990er-Jahre für die Öffentlichkeit gesperrt, seither ist er nur auf Anfrage zu besichtigen.

And these are only a few of the innumerable achievements. Other achievements include-revocation of the draconian, anti-democratic Code of Conduct and the Bahri Committee Enquiry, doubling of MCM Scholarships, computerized .sus Pass Counter etc. In each of these ~the issues were discussed democratically within the student community through GBMs and UGBMs (University GBMs). Also, the success of the agitations ccrmot be merely attributed to hunger strikes by one or two student leaders. The real strength of each ofthese agitations lay In the massive participation of studet:~ts -in relay hunger strikes, sit-in, dharnas, demon~ratJonsand spontaneous participation in class boycotts. .
