A perennial wildflower favouring roadsides and dry, grassy places, the Musk Mallow – Malva moschata – is widespread in England and Wales but more scarce elsewhere. Its leaves are rounded and three lobed at the plants base but become increasingly dissected up the stem. The flower, which has a sweet musky scent, has five, distinctly notched, pale pink petals with a central column of white to pink stamens. This one was seen at Brockholes Nature Reserve, near Preston, Lancashire.
