Leaving the cairn three Provinces of 2497 my way Peña Prieta Peak went through Hell, from which we can admire a beautiful glacial cirque lake whose water collects Resource Carriones to 2220 m, which is the source of the river Carrión. That day we walked a little lost in the fog, but when it was, the show was really beautiful. You can not capture in a photograph ...

I've spent a saturday night alone with my stars, and the beloved clouds to add up for beauty and the great mountains of my land to inspire awe

By the way, I've tested my new Samyang 14mm f/2.8... great lens!

A blending of layers from my overcast grey drive today. The only color is from the "difference" filter.

It is lovely to see the season change, bringing these pretty spring flowers with it.

Verbier is a ski resort in the Swiss Alps, in the canton of Valais. It is part of the "Four Valleys" ski area, which includes the ski resorts of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz, and Thyon. Verbier is recognized as one of the premiere "off-piste" resorts worldwide. Many top skiers have settled in the resort in order to take advantage of the steep slopes, varied conditions and vibrant nightlife. Verbier is also a popular holiday destination for celebrities, including Sarah Ferguson, Diana Ross, James Blunt and The Crown Prince Couple of Denmark: Frederik and Mary.

Verbier is located in the Val de Bagnes, in the Valais region of Switzerland. The resort lies on a south orientated terrace at around 1,500 metres facing the Grand Combin massif.

Verbier only has one access road, which starts in the town of Le Châble.

The Grand Combin is a mountain in the western Pennine Alps in Switzerland. With its 4,314 metres (14,154 ft) high summit it is one of the highest peaks in the Alps and the second most prominent of its range.

The Grand Combin is also a large glaciated massif consisting of several summits, among which three are above 4000 metres.

The Alps (French: Alpes; German: Alpen; Italian: Alpi; Romansh: Alps; Slovene: Alpe) is the name for one of the great mountain range systems of Europe, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east, through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany to France in the west. The word "Alps" was taken via French from Latin Alpes (meaning "the Alps"), which may be influenced by the Latin words albus (white) or altus (high) or more likely a Latin rendering of a Celtic or Ligurian original.

The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc, at 4,808 metres (15,774 ft), on the Italian-French border. All the main peaks of the Alps can be found in the list of mountains of the Alps and list of Alpine peaks by prominence.

The Alps are generally divided into the Western Alps and the Eastern Alps. The division is along the line between Lake Constance and Lake Como, following the Rhine. The Western Alps are higher, but their central chain is shorter and curved; they are located in Italy, France and Switzerland. The Eastern Alps (main ridge system elongated and broad) belong to Austria, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland.

The Alps are a classic example of what happens when a temperate area at lower altitude gives way to higher elevation terrain. Elevations around the world which have cold climates similar to those found in polar areas have been called alpine. A rise from sea level into the upper regions of the atmosphere causes the temperature to decrease. The effect of mountain chains on prevailing winds is to carry warm air belonging to the lower region into an upper zone, where it expands in volume at the cost of a proportionate loss of heat, often accompanied by the precipitation of moisture in the form of snow or rain.

Meg and I were having a break from our time out shooting when we noticed Laura walk by us on the busy street. With her fabulous style both Meg and I said the same thing, "She'd make a great stranger!" So I left Meg to finish her beer and went to see if I could catch Laura. Thankfully I did, and Laura was most gracious to accommodate my request. I liked the look of this disused store front, with it's reflections, and decided to try to as a backdrop. Laura was a delight to meet, wishing me all the best in my project.

Thank you Laura for being a part of my 100 Strangers Project. You can find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

The Namibian authorities have made several arrests and issued public statements that revealing clothing on women are rape provoking and not culturally of an African decent. (say what???..)

Most Namibian's, naturally, are outraged and have already staged a protest and it has gone viral on facebook.

As Alan pointed out, Namibia is already considered to be amongst the top 10 most miserable countries in the world and now they want to control women's dress.....

"The fog is an illusion,

A master of disguise,

Which hides the tangible

Before our very eyes...

It gives an air of mystery

That has long prevailed.

Dangerously intriguing

Is the fog's foggy veil."

A foggy morning in Upper Normandy.

Étretat is a very picturesque town surrounded by steep chalk cliffs (falaises), including 3 stunning natural arches. Despite the reduced visibility, the most famous of the arches (La Porte d'Aval) and the pointed "needle" were breath-taking. The Falaise d’Aval looks as an elephant dipping his trunk into the sea. Standing next to it is l'Aiguille Creuse (Hollow Needle), made famous by Maurice Leblanc. The French novelist created the character of Arsène Lupin, the Gentleman Thief and set his legendary refuge inside the Needle.

Hey guys! This time I came with a personal experiment. I wanted to create an image with a high contrast, but with absolute control of alll the shadows and highlights, without overdodge or burn any important area.

I think I did a good job with that :)

¿Qué tal chicos? Esta vez traigo un experimento personal. Quería crear una imagen con un alto contraste, pero con un absoluto control de las sombras y las luces, para no quemar ni emplastar ningún área importante.

Creo que hice un buen trabajo con eso :)

Here’s an image of the city of my residence when it’s not flirting with the fog! ;o)

This was also the very last photo I took in 2012 on a very early and cold December morning. Looking back at my Seattle inventory alone, I took roughly 3,700 photos in 2012, almost exactly 100 less than the year before.

It’s odd.

For some reason, I feel this number is extremely low. (Note: My point may have been misunderstood by some -- I find the number 3,700 low for one year, not the difference of 100 images between 2011 and 2012). When I travel to a different city for my portfolio, I can take as many as 4,000 photos in much less than a week. Perhaps, it’s because Seattle is “home”, so I’m never in a rush compared to New York or San Francisco or Alaska where limited time is of the essence. I sleep a lot less when I’m on a photographic mission. It’s terrific!

Wishing you all a fabulous and enjoyable weekend in your relative locations around the planet!

Have a wonderful day, cozy evening and dreamy night !!!

I went to the Red Bull Crashed Ice event last weekend in downtown St. Paul Minnesota. If your not familiar with this; Crashed Ice is a world tour extreme winter sporting event sponsored by Red Bull which involves downhill speed skating in an urban environment on a treacherous track laced with crazy high vertical drops, hairpin turns, bone-jarring jumps and other assorted mayhem producing icy structures.

This is Crashed Ice racing team 'Team Nutts' led by Canadian adrenaline junkie Shane Nuttley coming down from hang-man hill and over the dangerous ice waves. That's a picture of Shane and his signature red mohawk hairdo on their jerseys.

A shout out to Diane for making our Saint Paul, MN arrangements - muchas gracias!
