“...Se alzó espantao un carancho
de la dormida cumbrera
y el viento encrespó en la tarde
un remolino de ausencias...
¡Qué rancho pa' estar de noche
bautizando las estrellas!
¡Qué campo con el rocío
pa’ desvelar las vigüelas!...”

A little more than a year ago I was upload a single tree on a field. I used the same tones like here to compensate the poor light and overcast sky. I also used a 16:7 format the first time.
Even though the field is a completely different one, there are parallels to that one shot. I was driving to my grandmother's when I passed this hill and those cars on top of them. I don't know what they were up to, cause I couldn't see the other side of the hill. Was it just like a sunday morning hill party or an occult?

The concept of "foreground interest" doesn't really seem to be my thing. But, trying here to see if a very uneventful sky can be balanced by at least some kind of "event" going on in the foreground :-)
Have a great weekend everyone!

Spiral staircase leading to the 'Café Glockenspiel' in Munich.
I took several shots of this staircase from different angles, but this one is my favorite, because of the bit of wall which is still visible on the right side (looked strange when i cut it off a few shots earlier) and because of the intersecting railings.
Technique/Processing
I took 2 shots, 2EV apart from each other. The first one already had dialed in an exposure correction of +1EV, because i wanted to retain the bright walls. The upper part of the staircase had to be replaced (manual blending) with the one from the -2EV exposure, because it was completely white.
I did NOT use a tripod, but hand held it again, having to use ISO 7200 (!!!) to get the bright look. I was really excited, that the lavender wall color came out so nicely at this high ISO setting

Sunset over the Hradčany in Prague.
Info
Prague Castle (Czech: Pražský hrad) is a castle in Prague where the Kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman Emperors and presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic have had their offices. The Bohemian Crown Jewels are kept here. Prague Castle is one of the biggest castles in the world (according to Guinness Book of Records the biggest ancient castle) at about 570 meters in length and an average of about 130 meters wide.

Technique/Processing
I shot this one, using the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens. At first i shot a normal photo, but i realized it didn't look good, because of the troubled waters of the Vltava.
But then i remembered that i miraculously did not forget to pack my B+W ND110 ND filter, so i screwed it onto the lens and by that, could use an exposure of 15 seconds, which created the silky water you can see here. Oh, and i also had to carry my tripod around the whole day, but hey, 2kgs more or less don't matter ;)
Moreover, the cloud moved during those 15 seconds and thus it seems to encircle the sun.

My Dear Friends, another quick post just to say that I am still alive, and still doing photography! I am still very busy at work, hence not having much time for flickr.
I did this shot yesterday, on an isolated beach near the place I live.
As for the title, well I feel like something is about to arrive (land?) just in front of me! ;-)

So I skipped school today and stayed home until 3:30pm. I did a bit of homework, caught up a bit on Flickr, saw Beowulf online (friends were talking about it yesterday) and then I went outside to buy some lunch for tomorrow. I'll be taking a midterm for my calculus class which is going to take almost 4 hours so everybody has to bring their own lunch to eat in between the breaks haha. I played basketball for a bit at the park and then I went home to fix my mom's bike. The chain was popping off, so all I did was tighten it by moving the back wheel further back. It's going to be a long test day tomorrow. :(

The last day of Songkran festival is here.
Thailand is wet and ready for a new year.
This man here is working on the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok.
The most important shrine for the thais and you can believe me, tons of flowers, candles and incense sticks are laid down all day by the thai Buddhists, coming to this place to pray for good business and success.
So this man is doing an important job, he grabs all flowers and the other stuff and making space for new ones.
I like the hand of him, I catched in this shot.

Let's move from Prague to Munich :)
After Prague we went to Munich on short notice
Station Georg-Brauchle-Ring of the U1 line.
Info
Georg-Brauchle-Ring is an U-Bahn station in Munich on the U1. It is located below the Georg-Brauchle-Ring, part of Munich's Mittlerer Ring ring road system. It opened on 18 October 2003. Artist Franz Ackermann produced two coloured walls for the station entitled The Great Journey and consisting of 400 panels, each wall weighing 30 tons
Technique/Processing
Handheld - only 1/15s this time - so no problem at ISO 1000 - i really love the ISO Auto function of the D700 - you can concentrate on the subject instead of having to adjust your exposure/ISO every time.
Developed from RAW in Photoshop - one exposure for the lights (especially the clocks - they were completely white out of cam) and one for the rest and then combined them by layer masking.
A little contrast added, by applying a slight S-curve.
After that i added some 'glamour glow' to the lights on the ceiling and their reflections to make them look softer.

On this occasion, the wally was me! Why? For forgetting to take my Lumix off the rock on the bottom right of the image when I was taking it :p I've cloned it out now of course :)
Also cloned out the big buoy between the island and mainland (see previous picture), as well as the dust bunnies I've got, and had to straighten the lighthouse as well as the 10-20mm at 10mm doesn't half have some distortion :)
Oddly enough the colour is the one thing I've not touched in post-pro, I spent far too much time (ok 10 minutes) cloning out the camera, buoy and straightening the lighthouse that I was fedup already by then).

Sometimes we only live for the here and now. Sometimes we're lonely. Sometimes we feel we need a place to be grounded or fly away again.
I feel rain pouring down. I wait to rot away. Live again, here forever. The spiral never ends. Run away, live again, here forever, the spiral never ends.
It never ends.......

The sun. The nearest star, despite it shines from a mere 150 million kilometers far away.. In order to take this shot, I have climbed upon a dam and waited there until the sun barely touched the bridge, far away no more than 1 km from me, one hundred fifty milion times closer than the sun. More or less...
i've placed my position on the map.

One of my favourite walks is through the port, watching the names and origin ports of ships, exotic names for me: Varna, Odessa, Vladivostok, Nassau... It makes me dream of far travels abroad. Today we had this fine collection of vessels in the closest dock to the city. The three-masted ship is a replica of the spanish flagship at Trafalgar, it is permanently anchored in Málaga and used as a floating restaurant.
