Refresh yourself at the Landes National Park Region a peaceful and natural retreat. The Landes are a flat sandy low land area at the southwest corner of Aquitaine region featuring the largest European pine forest. An area of over 300 sq km - the park is somewhere to spread your wings and to get back in touch with nature. This hidden garden is the privileged territory to approach the soul of Aquitaine - France. Visitors here invariably leave with a renewed sense of peace and vitality. For active days there are lakes for boating, swimming, picnic or just observing the wildlife, and several centers for horse-riding, canoing and cycle trails. The Landes forest, also known as the moors of Gascony.
Photo taken at the Landes National Park Region of South Western of France. A misty morning at the largest European pine forest. A lovely Autumn forest with lush brown colored ferns, a majority of them grow in shade. New growth is sometimes reddish or purple, but turns green with age, yellow in autumn, and brown in winter.
Pushkar (पुष्कर) in Rajasthan is one of the oldest cities of India. The date of its actual origin is not known, but legend associates Lord Brahma with its creation. It is mentioned that Brahma performed penance here for 60,000 years to have glimpse of Radha Krishna. Pushkar boasts of temples, though not many can be considered very old since many were destroyed by Aurangzeb, a Mogul ruler and subsequently rebuilt. The most famous among all is the Brahma Temple, said to be the only temple in the world dedicated to this deity.
Pushkar is famous for its annual Pushkar Cattle Fair, which has over the years become one of the biggest tourist attractions in India. This is usually the quintessential colourful Indian festival which you see in all the Incredible !ndia ads. However, this year was not as joyous for the traders. The global recession combined with the drought hit hard and there were hardly any buyers. The individual stories are sad - with most traders having to leave their cows, camels and horses behind because they can't afford to feed their families, let alone the animals. Yet, the resilience of the people was touching to see - with hope for the future and welcoming to those from the outside.
Check out the whole set - Magical Rajasthan.

One who has the ability to see Beauty never grows old.
We seek to live life to it’s fullest, all the while maintaining balance and stability.
Life is not an exact science, it is an art.
Long exposures and minimalism doesn't necessarily mean minimalism in tones to me, only in composition... Michael Levin and Michael Kenna are true masters in this discipline and are the ones who inspire me...
I haven't been shooting new photos for weeks. Work and travelling is killing me really, I feel like I'm close to a burn out ...So here's another one from the archives. Like the previous post, and this one, and this one and this one, all shot on the same day, April 25 2009. It was a day when conditions were ideal for long exposures...

I just learned something today. I got a very low score in one of my major exams. I have never experienced this in a very long time. I know it’s shallow, but I just feel so down and troubled… I guess I’m in the bottom of the wheel this time around. I wasn’t suppose to post anything until the first week of November because I have to study again, but I felt to sad that I needed an outlet. So please bear with this sad photograph…. And bear the site of me in it too.
Hope you guys are having a great day ☺

Instantly hailed as the most important structure of its time, Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum Bilbao recently celebrated a decade of extraordinary success on October 19, 2007. With close to ninety exhibitions and over ten million visitors to its credit, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao forever changed the way the world thinks about museums, and it continues to challenge our assumptions about the connections between art, architecture, and collecting.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Collection has a unique, yet complementary, identity from the collections at the other Guggenheim institutions, featuring works by some of the most significant artists of the second half of the 20th century: Eduardo Chillida, Yves Klein, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Clyfford Still, Antoni Tàpies, and Andy Warhol, among others.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, built by Ferrovialand located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. It is built alongside the Nervion River, which runs through the city of Bilbao to the Atlantic Coast. The Guggenheim is one of several museums belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The museum features permanent and visiting exhibits of works by Spanish and international artists.
One of the most admired works of contemporary architecture, the building has been hailed as a "single moment in the architectural culture" because it represents "one of those rare moments when critics, academics, and the general public were all completely united about something."The museum was the building most frequently named as one of the most important works completed since 1980 in the 2010 World Architecture Survey among architecture experts.

Albany Park in Enfield
Not the biggest or the nicest park in the UK, but this particular morning it showed off beautifully. There was this lovely ground mist hugging the floor, swirling around school boys legs as they walked to school and the sun was rising and beaming through the trees ahead of me. I was so LUCKY to catch this shot.

Got out into the great British Columbian wilderness today, and hiked 4km to the beautiful Mystic Beach on Vancouver Island's westcoast. . Along the way we passed this suspension bridge that was kind of a surprise. It was my first time seeing a suspension bridge this big, and it was really fun to walk across while looking down. =D

In preparation of a free buffet lunch I thought I'd get a little exercise cycling on my wife's battery powered mamachari (bike with large baskets) and came across this unexpected wonderful sunset.
This was taken using my wide angle lense and cropped at the bottom to remove the beach from the shot.
Slightly processed to give a nice cinematic film feel.
Just a perfect day,
Drink Sangria in the park,
And then later, when it gets dark,
We go home.
Just a perfect day,
Feed animals in the zoo
Then later, a movie, too,
And then home.
Oh it's such a perfect day,
I'm glad I spent it with you.
Oh such a perfect day,
You just keep me hanging on,
You just keep me hanging on.
Just a perfect day,
Problems all left alone,
Weekenders on our own.
It's such fun.
Just a perfect day,
You made me forget myself.
I thought I was someone else,
Someone good.
Oh it's such a perfect day,
I'm glad I spent it with you.
Oh such a perfect day,
You just keep me hanging on,

Het Steen is a historic medieval castle in the old city center of Antwerp, Belgium, one of Europe's biggest ports. Built in 1200 - 1225, Het Steen is Antwerp's oldest building.
Previously known as Antwerp Castle, Het Steen gained its current name in around 1520, after significant rebuilding under Charles V. The rebuilding led to it being known first as "'s Heeren Steen" (the King's Stone), and later simply as "Het Steen" (The Stone). The Dutch word "Steen" means "stone", and is used for "castle" or "fortress", as in the "Gravensteen" in Ghent, Belgium.
The castle made it possible to control the access to the Schelde, the river that flows through Antwerp. It was also used as a prison between 1303 and 1827. This was not the noblest time of existence of the Steen Castle. Captivity itself was not punishment - the prison was where you awaited your sentence. Very popular punishment available was; chopping of hands, heads and/or burning and quartering. The prison’s regime was not a very honest one. The rich were logged in the right wing and the poor in the left wing of the castle.
Part of the castle was later demolished to make the roads to connect the south and the north part of the port. The remaining building contains a shipping museum, with outside on displayed on the quay, some real old canal barges.
In 1890 ‘Het Steen’ became the museum of archeology and in 1952 an annex was added to house the museum of the Antwerp maritime history. Here you’ll also find a war memorial to the Canadian soldiers in WWII.
At the entrance to Het Steen is a bas-relief of Semini, above the archway, circa 2nd century. Semini is the Scandinavian God for youth and fertility (with symbolic phallus). A historical plaque near Het Steen explains that women of the town appealed to Semini when they desired children; the god was reviled by later religious clergy. Inhabitants of Antwerp previously referred to themselves as "children of Semini". An organization affiliated with historic preservation of Het Steen and Semini, Antwerp Komitee Semini in Ere (AKSIE), formed in 1986, holds annual celebrations at Het Steen as cultural events. (Source: Het Steen)
It was a rather calm day there ... I saw no other people visiting the castle. Maybe it is not so famous in Antwerp.
Worth to view Large On Black

This photo was taken while waiting for our plane that'll bring me to Iloilo. The flight was supposed to be at 4:30am but was delayed due to some technical problems with our original plane. We were asked to transfer to another plane after the pilot and technicians confirmed that it will take time to fix the first plane's faulty mechanism.
If my memory serves me right, this shot was taken before 6 in the morning while it was raining outside and some dark clouds are coming into view forecasting the catastrophe that will fall on this city about 2 weeks later.
Shot through a glass wall of a cafe. Clone stamped away the reflections and did some DRI.
This picture was shot hand-held with three exposures (-2..0..+2EV). I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tonemapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. Unsharp Mask.

This is my calico cat Cassie sitting on a rail on my front porch. That's her favorite place to be now as she watches the hummingbirds buzz around her... out of reach, thank goodness.
I am dedicating this photo to one of the sweetest ladies you'll ever know.... AMANDA (craftedfromtheheart). She was one of my first Flickr friends and I was drawn to her beautiful photography, her bubbly personality and her fighting spirit to face all the difficult challenges that life seems to have tossed in her direction. Despite her adversities, she keeps on going and fills our comment boxes with humor & sweet words. I admire her so much.
I chose this particular shot because Amanda loves all sorts of animals. She has possums and kookaburra that visit her daily. They know she is a gentle soul that can be trusted. How lucky they are to have Amanda looking after them.
Amanda, thank you so much for the beautiful testimony you wrote for me. You are a blessing in so many people's lives, including mine. Remember, you really ARE an angel, so stretch out those wings and keep on flying........
P.S..... If you visit Amanda's page and see her photos blacked out, fear not. She's being harassed by a coward who keeps flagging her photos. Seriously, how can a photo of a flower be considered inappropriate? It displeases me when people use Flickr resources as a weapon against other members. So sad.

Last week, I returned to the exact location of my last upload to capture the morning fog lifting for the day. There are few clouds this time of year but the fog can really create some good atmosphere and light under the right conditions. The trick is to be ready before sunrise and if it has promise, head out immediately! No HDR.

As usual, this light lasted for about 5 minutes or so. You don't get a second chance with fog because one moment it is too thick and the next minute it burns off to clear skies for the rest of the day! So you must be ready for when the light breaks through. And hopefully it breaks through before it gets too harsh and bright with the sun too high in the sky.
Again, I was really out to shoot the Golden Gate Bridge because there was low fog, but it was not meant to be. The fog was too thick. But that was fine because I have lots of alternative shots planned out, so I just follow the light to where it leads me.
