Location: Near my house at Tamagawa River, Tokyo, Sunday (17 July 2011)
Taken shortly after the sunset while I walked with my bike approaching the bridge of Tamagawa as my house is at the other side.. Tried a longer exposure but it pales off more the color of the horizon.
"...Ever so nicely
Notice
How it sparkles
Down there
I can decide
What I give
But it's not up to me
What I get given
Unthinkable surprises
About to happen
But what they are"

Description :
Oslo, Norway: The suspect in Norway's twin attacks that killed at least 92 people says he acted alone, police said Sunday, after some witness accounts said a second gunman had taken part in a mass shooting.
But police are still trying to establish whether there was "one or several" shooters at Friday's attack on a Labour Party youth meeting on Utoeya island, northwest of Oslo, police commissioner Sveinung Sponheim told journalists.
Norway suspect 'deemed killings necessary'
A suspected right-wing fanatic accused of killing at least 92 people deemed his acts "atrocious" yet "necessary" as Norway mourned victims of the nation's worst attacks since World War Two.
Police were hunting on Sunday to see if a possible second gunman took part in the shooting massacre and bomb attack on Friday that traumatised a normally peaceful Nordic country.
Anders Behring Breivik comments
In his first comment via a lawyer since he was arrested, 32-year-old Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik expressed willingness to explain himself in court at a hearing likely to be held on Monday about extending protective custody.
"He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary," lawyer Geir Lippestad told independent TV2 news.
Police said Breivik gave himself up after admitting to a massacre in which at least 85 people died, mostly young people attending a summer camp of the youth wing of Norway's ruling Labour Party on an idyllic island.
Breivik was also arrested for the bombing of Oslo's government district that killed seven people hours earlier. Norway's toughest sentence is 21 years in jail. Survivors, relatives of those killed and supporters planned a procession to mourn the dead at Sundvollen on Sunday, near the island where the massacre took place.
Police defend delays
The comments from Breivik came as reports said police arrived at the island massacre about an hour and a half after he first opened fire, slowed because they didn't have quick access to a helicopter and then couldn't find a boat to make their way to the scene just several hundred yards offshore.
Survivors of the shooting spree have described hiding and fleeing into the water to escape the gunman, but a police briefing Saturday detailed for the first time how long the terror lasted - and how long victims waited for help.
Manifesto and video against multiculturalism
King Harald would attend a service in Oslo cathedral, a few hundred metres (yards) from where a bomb devastated government buildings including the offices of Labour Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
Breivik hated "cultural marxists", wanted a "crusade" against the spread of Islam and liked guns and weightlifting, web postings, acquaintances and officials said.
A video posted to the YouTube website showed several pictures of Breivik, including one of him in a Navy Seal type scuba diving outfit pointing an automatic weapon. "Before we can start our crusade we must do our duty by decimating cultural marxism," said a caption under the video called "Knights Templar 2083" on the YouTube website, which took down the video on Saturday.
A Norwegian website provided a link to a 1,500 page electronic manifesto which says Breivik was the author. It was not possible to verify who posted the video or wrote the book.
"Once you decide to strike, it is better to kill too many than not enough, or you risk reducing the desired ideological impact of the strike," the book said.
Norway has traditionally been open to immigration, which has been criticised by the Progress Party, of which Breivik was for a short time a member. The Labour Party, whose youth camp Breivik attacked, has long been in favour of immigration.
About 100 people stood solemnly early on Sunday at a makeshift vigil near Oslo's main church, laying flowers and lighting candles. Soldiers with guns and wearing bullet-proof vests blocked streets leading to the government district.
"We are all in sorrow, everybody is scared," said Imran Shah, a Norwegian taxi driver of Pakistani heritage, as a light summer drizzle fell on unusually empty Oslo streets.
Some terrified survivors of the shooting rampage said bullets came from at least two sides. "We are not at all certain" about whether he acted alone, police chief Sveinung Sponheim said. "That is one of the things that the investigation will concentrate on."
Witnesses
Witnesses said the gunman, wearing a police uniform, was able to shoot unchallenged for a prolonged period. He picked off his victims on Utoeya island northwest of Oslo forcing youngsters to scatter in panic or to jump into the lake to swim for the mainland.
"I heard screams. I heard people begging for their lives and I heard shots. He just blew them away," Labour Party youth member Erik Kursetgjerde, 18, told Reuters.
"I was certain I was going to die," he said. "People ran everywhere. They panicked and climbed into trees. People got trampled."
Home-grown militant
The suspect, tall and blond, owned an organic farming company called Breivik Geofarm, which a supply firm said he had used to buy fertiliser -- possibly to make the Oslo bomb.
Home-grown anti-government militants have struck elsewhere in the past, notably in the United States, where Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people with a truck bomb in Oklahoma City in 1995.
The district attacked is the heart of power in Norway. But security is not tight in a country unused to such violence and better known for awarding the Nobel Peace Prize and mediating in conflicts, including the Middle East and Sri Lanka.

My sainted mother
me said:
"Take care, Juanito,
from bad company. "
That's why my friends
I measure with a rod of rasa
and I have very elect
are the best of each house.
My friends were criminals,
convicted of dreams caught on the fly
applauding when the sun climbs the sky
open your heart and I like flowers.
My friends are dreams unforeseen
seeking his philosopher's stone
hanging around seedy suburbs
where the gods come down without being seen.
My friends are people dutiful
who come when they know that I expect.
If death is rubbing the hide.
That pa 'them friendship comes first.

Today I digged out one of my old New York photos. New York is a great city. Much too great to be discovered in only 3 days.
There are some really pretty motives over there. If you want to see some really mind boggling New York shots go over to Philip Klinger. He did a great Job over there.
Besides I used a wicked processing on this image. I actually didn’t really know why I did it. But you might be wondering why the image looks a bit blurry even though you have the impression of sharp lines and clear parts. That is because I used the Orton Glow style in the beginning. All the things I did after the glow effect where based on it. I was too lazy to do it all over again. Somehow I like the effect because it makes the water in the upper right image golden shivering and it also amplifies the sunrays you can see in the clouds.
If you turn over to full size you can see the boundaries of my equipment. There are colourlines around the houses. This is because of the Tokina 12-24mm I used here. I am really waiting to have enough money to buy a nice D700 and a really good lens to get rid of these things I can’t really stop.
Also I am happy to see all the great photos on your streams. I am really comfortable with all the different styles I see there. As I am most of the time do City, B&W and symmetry photos I am really impressed by your landscape, flower, family, sports and lightpainting shots!
Have a great Sunday!

So I went out for the first time in quite a while with my camera last night. I've had this image in mind for a long time, but just had never bothered to take it. Its not entirely what I had in mind as I thought the parliament building would have had more lighting and the sky would be more blue. The sky I think was just a problem with seasonal timing of the sun setting directly where I was shooting. The light trails were pretty good though, I wasn't sure how much traffic there would be, but there was enough for a 2 minute exposure.

The gardens are a fundamental part of the Alcazar. A walk in the gardens of the Alcazar is one of the most pleasant of Seville, which combine the Arab influences, Renaissance and modern. They are arranged in terraces, with green vegetation, lots of orange and palm trees, fountains, cool and calm for rest and relaxation away from the city.

The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. They were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. The high, arid plateau stretches more than 80 kilometers (50 mi) between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas de Jumana about 400 km south of Lima. Although some local geoglyphs resemble Paracas motifs, scholars believe the Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD. The hundreds of individual figures range in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks, orcas, llamas, and lizards.
The lines are shallow designs made in the ground by removing the ubiquitous reddish pebbles and uncovering the whitish ground beneath. Hundreds are simple lines or geometric shapes; more than seventy are designs of animal, bird, fish, or human figures. The largest figures are over 200 meters (660 ft.) across. Scholars differ in interpreting the purpose of the designs, but in general they ascribe religious significance to them.
The geometric ones could indicate the flow of water or be connected to rituals to summon water. The spiders, birds, and plants could be fertility symbols. Other possible explanations include: irrigation schemes or giant astronomical calendars.
Due to the dry, windless, and stable climate of the plateau and its isolation, for the most part the lines have been preserved. Extremely rare changes in weather may temporarily alter the general designs.

The thing I'm seeking for, is LIFE. We born, we love, we die. Is this life ? To me LIFE means the most beautiful and precious gift. Life has everything if you think positively; the color, dream, smile, happiness and above all here I chose the RHYTHM.
I've found the LIFE in the earth, in the clouds, in the air and inside her.

I tried taking bubble pictures before, but had to re-take for Cliche Saturday Scavenger Hunt. Of course, I forgot how hard it is to get a closeup of a bubble. It keeps moving, so lens is confused about where to focus. And often, when bubble is perfectly in-focus, shutter refuses to work because lens "thinks" it is not done focusing yet. And when you are about to take a shot, bubble pops and you start all over. I seriously need to remember to buy glycerin next time - it supposed to make bubbles indestructible. Which is just another way to say "less fragile".
Another version is under the fold. And, it goes without saying, this is my "Bubbles" cliche category entry. HCS, everyone!

Great Horned Owls have adapted to many different places and climates. They occur in dense forests and high in the mountains. Great Horned Owls can vary in colour from a reddish brown to a grey or black and white. The underside is a light grey with dark bars and a white band of feathers on the upper breast. They have large, staring yellow eyes. The name is derived from tufts of feathers that appear to be horns which are sometimes referred to as ear tufts but have nothing to do with hearing at all. The large feet are feathered to the ends of the toes, and the immature birds resemble the adults. Females are 10 to 20% larger than males. Wingspan 91-152cm. Great Horned Owls have a large repertoire of sounds, ranging from deep booming hoots to shrill shrieks. The male's resonant territorial call oo-hoo hoooooo hoo-hoo can be heard over several miles during a still night. Great Horned Owls hunt by perching on snags and poles and watching for prey, or by gliding slowly above the ground. From high perches they dive down to the ground with wings folded, before snatching prey. Prey are usually killed instantly when grasped by its large talons. They also hunt by walking on the ground to capture small prey or wading into water to snatch frogs and fish. They have been known to walk into chicken coops to take domestic fowl. Rodents and small rabbits can be swallowed whole while larger prey are carried off and ripped apart at feeding perches or at the nest. Birds are often plucked first, and legs and wing tips discarded. An extremely wide range of prey species are captured, but rabbits and hares are its preferred prey. Mammalian prey includes all coexisting rodents, squirrels, mink, skunks, raccoons, armadillos, porcupines, shrews, moles, muskrats, and bats. They may sometimes take small domestic dogs and cats. Bird prey includes all other Owls (except Snowy Owl), grouse, woodpeckers, crows, turkeys, pigeons, Red-tailed Hawks, bitterns, Great Blue Heron, ducks, swans, gulls, etc. Reptiles include snakes, turtles, lizards, and young alligators. Amphibians include frogs, toads, and salamanders. Other foods include fish, large insects, scorpions, centipedes, crayfish, worms, spiders, and road killed animals. A Great Horned Owl is powerful enough to take prey 2 to 3 times heavier than itself.
Activity of the Great Horned Owl generally begins at dusk. Here at the Hochalm Bird-of-Prey Station in the National park Hohe Tauern these birds of prey can be up close and personal! An exciting experience in the Rauris Valley - Austria.

This is a photo of a couple in the (supposed) rains. A welcome to the monsoon season :)
There is a story behind this image. I have been wanting to do a monsoon shot for a while now and I've been scratching my head as to how to go about it.
One of these days I had this idea about the splash, which of course is not an original one because there are plenty of such splash images all over.. but then the idea of the couple came to me during my brother's engagement ceremony and I wanted to combine all my different thoughts into one image.
What stopped me from doing this shot for the last few days was the umbrella. Initially I tried making the umbrella by myself but craft is not my forte :) so yesterday I went to a club, gulped down a couple of cocktails and got this umbrella back with me to be used for this image.
Well, I hope you guys like it, because I had to do a lot of antics for this one.
Thanks for your visit. Cheers..**hic**
