Le Crete Senesi occupano una vasta area a sud-est della città di Siena, interessando i territori comunali di Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, San Giovanni d'Asso e Trequanda.
La zona presenta un caratteristico paesaggio collinare, pressoché spoglio di vegetazione, dove si alternano in modo molto suggestivo calanchi e biancane che, a tratti, sembrano costituire un paesaggio lunare. Fin dal Medioevo, questa area era conosciuta nell'insieme con il nome di Deserto di Accona.
L'area, da sempre inospitale, ha mantenuto quasi intatte le originarie caratteristiche ambientali, tanto che ancora oggi risulta difficoltosa la coltura della vite e dell'ulivo. Grazie alle opere irrigue, è possibile la coltivazione di grano e girasoli.

Puerto del Escudo

Foto dedicada a mi gran amiga Lur, porque la luz está en tu interior, y esa luz nos hace mejores a tu familia de afectos, cuando estamos cerca de tí.
Para acompañar la fotografía una hermosa canción de Navidad galega, pues con ella al lado siempre es "Navidad".
El Puerto del Escudo es un puerto de montaña a 1.011 metros de altitud, en el límite entre Cantabria y Castilla y León. En él nace el río Magdalena o Luena, afluente del río Pas.
Desde antiguo este paso ha sido una de las principales vías de acceso desde la costa a la Meseta atravesando la Cordillera Cantábrica.
El Puerto del Escudo está atravesado por la carretera N-623 , conocida por sus fuertes rampas en su vertiente cántabra que pueden llegar hasta el 15% y por la dificultad para el tránsito de los vehículos pesados. Esta característica y su altitud hace que durante las nevadas de los meses invernales se cierre este acceso con relativa frecuencia.

Escudo Port is a mountain pass to 1,011 meters of altitude, on the border of Cantabria and Castilla y León. It was born Luena River, a tributary of the river Pas.
Since ancient times this step has been one of the main access routes from the coast to the plateau across the Cantabrian Mountains.
The Puerto del Escudo is crossed by the road N-623, known for its strong ramp in the Cantabrian side that can reach 15% and the difficulty for the transit of heavy vehicles. This feature and its altitude makes it snows during the winter months this access is closed relatively frequently..
Teddy just had his twice monthly bath, which did not make him happy. Nothing like having a two and a half pound Chihuahua trying to climb your arm while you bathe him in the kitchen sink!
This will most definitely go down in history as my most dangerous shoot ever. I was so scared to crawl across the melting ice caps at my cottage to get this, I almost didn't do it! But I knew I'd regret it if I didn't, and I was right. So thankful not to have fallen through to that ice water below!
I have never been away from flickr this long before. Feels weird, but at the same time quite refreshing. I've had so much going on the past 4 months with my dollhouse show (which was a success!) and obtaining a new visa to live in the U.S. (which I am currently home in Canada waiting on), that I've scarcely had time to think about photography. After all this time away, it felt strangely blissful to sprawl across the melting ice in sheer agony. Like coming home :)
Karimabad is the capital of Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan. Karimabad is also known as Baltit. It is named after Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual head of Shia Ismaili Nizari community. It is one of the most beautiful places in Pakistan and it swarms with tourists from all around the world during summers. It provides spectacular views of many beautiful mountains like Rakaposhi. The Guardian ranked it as the 4th Best Tourist Site in Pakistan.

I dedicated this image to my friend Bob (Bats), in honor of his continuing stream of seemingly never ending light trails in SF images.
I took this and two more shots before being approached by a security guard and being told the overpass closes at 8:30pm… therefore finding myself kicked off. Because of this, I have thought of this as a test shot rather than a publishable image, but it has grown on me, so here it is.
I've been meaning to return, but then I'm meaning to do a lot of things…

Ave de médio porte, o bem-te-vi mede entre de 20,5 e 25 cm de comprimento para, aproximadamente, 60 gramas. Tem o dorso pardo e a barriga de um amarelo vivo; uma listra (sobrancelha) branca no alto da cabeça, acima dos olhos; cauda preta. O bico é preto, achatado, longo, resistente e um pouco encurvado. A garganta (zona logo abaixo do bico) é de cor branca. Possui um topete amarelo somente visível quando a ave o eriça em determinadas situações. O seu canto trissilábico característico lembra as sílabas bem-te-vi, que dão o nome à espécie. Portanto, seu nome popular possui origem onomatopeica. It has the brown back and belly bright yellow, a stripe (eyebrow) white on her head, above the eyes, black tail. The beak is black, flat, long, tough and a little stooped. The neck (area below the beak) is white. It has a yellow tuft only visible when the bird erects in certain situations. His singing reminds trisyllabic characteristic syllables kiskadee, which name the species. Therefore, its popular name is an onomatopoeic word. La súper luna llena más grande y más brillante al acercarse a la menor distancia de la Tierra en 18 años. La última luna llena tan grande y tan cerca de la Tierra se produjo en marzo de 1993.
La luna llena varía de tamaño debido a la forma elíptica de la órbita de la Luna. Se trata de una elipse con una cara (perigeo) cerca de 50 mil kilómetros más cerca de la Tierra que el otro (apogeo).
Las lunas llenas del perigeo son cerca de 14% y 30% más grande y más brillantes respectivamente que las lunas menores que ocurren en el lado del apogeo de la órbita de la Luna.
La Luna estará entonces a 354.577 kilómetros de la Tierra. Es decir que estaremos 26.323 kilómetros más cerca de lo normal de nuestro satélite natural, del que nos separa una distancia media de 382.900 km.
El perigeo es el momento de la órbita lunar en el cual la Luna está más cerca de la Tierra, momento que se repite regularmente.
Recordemos que, tanto la Luna como la Tierra, se encuentran en constantes y múltiples movimientos, por lo que la distancia entre ambos cuerpos nunca es la misma que hace un segundo.
La órbita de la Luna presenta algunas variaciones matemáticas. Por eso, hay perigeos más cercanos a la Tierra que otros. El perigeo del 19 de marzo, en particular, será el más cercano a la Tierra en casi 20 años.

Piazza Unità d'Italia è la piazza principale di Trieste. Si trova ai piedi del colle di San Giusto, tra il Borgo Teresiano e Borgo Giuseppino.
La piazza si apre da un lato sul Golfo di Trieste ed è circondata da numerosi palazzi ed edifici pubblici. Di pianta rettangolare, per superficie è la più grande piazza d'Europa che si affaccia sul mare.
Nella piazza hanno oggi sede, tra gli altri, il Municipio di Trieste, il palazzo della Giunta Regionale del Friuli-Venezia Giulia e la prefettura del capoluogo.

I thought I'd give you a bit wider view of yesterday's photo. Again, this is Neahkahnie, where Neahkahnie mountain meets the Pacific Ocean. Those rocks that are furthest out are the ones I was zoomed in on. I figured you could appreciate this amazing place a bit more from this view. :) I'll show you the other side one of these days, though that seemed to be the misty side, so it will take a fair amount of cleaning up.

La niebla tarda en despejar, pero cuando se decide a hacerlo, salen días hermosos. La niebla y su fantasmagoría: no vemos lo que de ordinario nos sirve de referencia siendo nuestro paisaje habitual, y en su lugar vemos o creemos ver algo que no existe, pero que podría existir... es la otra cara. La niebla hace que nos encontremos perdidos en medio de la nada, aún estando en la misma puerta de nuestra casa.

Mejor se podría decir intento de amanecer ya que el sol no apareció por ninguna parte ya a última hora aparecieron unos rayos de sol entre las nubes.
Yo sigo probando la Canon PowerShot G12, esta vez con una de las múltiples herramientas que trae, en concreto en panorámica y con intensificación de color, que espero sea de vuestro agrado como lo ha sido del mío

I haven't done a bench shot in awhile ... so when I'm with the girls, I always try to grab a few for later! I had a lot of fun chauffeuring Rachel around San Diego and surrounding hamlets ... showing her what she could do, where she go, etc.
At sunset, our path put us near Carlsbad State Beach. We hopped up on the sea wall and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset ... and of course this bench shot! Loved the couple walking together, hand-in-hand and the fabulous sun flare! This looks much better in the lightbox!!

Amanecer para mi espectacular del sábado sobre los Picos de Europa, como se puede apreciar los colores han sido una maravilla y verlos sobre las siluetas de picos nevados, por lo menos para mí me ha parecido un amanecer de los más bonitos, que espero que a vosotr@s también os guste.

Este es el mas bello y fantastico faro que he visto. El faro de "Port la Nouvelle", en la
costa mediterránea Francesa. Siempre estuvo ahí, mostrando el camino para los
