Went down to the Lake, aimed to find some icicles on tree branches after a windy night and the temperature dropped below -11C. A little disappointed since the lake water was still warm.

I guess I'm showing my age when I reference New Wave ;)

Nevertheless, the sound of the water crashing against the cool, Autumnal shoreline, early in the morning, was music to my ears ;)

I'm off for a while. See ya' later my Flickrite Friends ;)

Hintersee, Berchtesgaden. May 2018, 5:20 AM. Sunrise with glowing mountaintops.

Just to prove that my camera can still do shutter speeds of less than 60seconds, and colour ;-)

Sixty Seconds of Sea

During the recent trip to California, we visited many beaches and public/recreational piers. There must be over hundred of them in California and they range from concrete structures to wood, most often called wharfs when they have the wooden surface you can drive on. I loved to take photos of them, day or night, and you will see many more positings to come. Hope you like them too.

ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing:

only a signal shown, and a distant voice in the darkness;

so on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another,

only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.

Had to go back to my new favourite local spot. Passed one dog-owner who thought it was a dreary day for taking pictures, but I smiled and thought otherwise. :-)

It was a nice day for hiking and there were many people on the summit. Here is the example using long exposure to "remove" the people ;)

Still busy at work!

Thanks all! Quite an overwhelming response! Never been anywhere near the front page before, though to be honest, I think it's long overdue! ;-)

As to those who have asked how I did this- it's easy! Just point your camera at moving water for 60seconds, and use a filtery thing to stop the blow out.

One of many small ice boulders along the beach in front of the famous glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón in south-eastern Iceland.

The picture (60seconds exposure) was taken with the Bigstopper (ND 10) and a 0.9 ND grad soft filter from Lee Filters. This is one of those attempts that worked out fine. The waves stayed away just for little more than a minute. Enough to take this shot without getting wet feet.

The picture (60seconds exposure) was taken with the Bigstopper (ND 10) and a 0.9 ND grad soft filter from Lee Filters. It took a few attempts to get it right, since the (small) waves occasionally got to close and I had to quickly take the camera to safe grounds.

🇬🇧 And it is that many times you don't need to travel far to have incredible landscapes. Spending the night surrounded by snow in Picos de Europa was really spectacular, one of those plans that you remember forever.

We were looking for the best composition to take everything we had in front of us next to the Milky Way and then we used Adrian's tent to give that point of scale to the mountains and warm light and this was the result.

The sky is composed of a 12 shot panoramic with tracker, each shot 5 x 30s f2.2 ISO 1000 - with the Sony 20mm f1.8.

Sunrise over violet tulips in Mt. Vernon WA. I slept in my car the night before, and woke before sunrise to get into place. It was cold out, and there was frost on the tulips. It was pretty clouded over, but the sun broke free for about 60 seconds...long enough for me to get off a couple shots. I waited for an hour for the sun to come back, but it never did.

I remember being disappointed but looking back now, it was worth it. Funny how that works. At the time, you don't really think about it, but you're forming the memories that you will look back on later.....even if they only come 60 seconds at a time.

This was an awesome outing with one of my flickr contacts Mac D. Mac is one of the coolest guys I've ever met. His work is amazing, so if you get time stop by and check his stream out. You will not be disappointed.

I'm fresh from the Bahamas, and was eager to get back out and get some wave action back into my system, so Mac and I decided to hit up Crystal Cove State Park. I love shooting this place. Each time I come here the conditions are always different. We were hoping for some nice cloud cover, which we didn't get, but we were treated with some off shore marine layer, and high tide. The high tide was crazy. There were constant waves pounding the shore. The rocky area would fill completely up with water, then go rushing back over the textured rock, which gave some really cool streaks of water flowing off the rocks, I'll post that image later, but as soon as one wave would come in, another would follow right behind it. On this shot, I was lucky enough to get two incoming waves in one long exposure. I think the results turned out kind of cool looking. Thanks for stopping by.

A nice warm feeling as the rising sun tries to shine through the rain out to sea.

Sadly soon to be replaced by the next wave of rain clouds moving in, though that did provide some interesting light :)

I had a day off work today I am pleased to report the weather on the South Coast of the UK improved so I paid a visit to Sandy Point, Hayling Island to capture the sunset.

Regular followers will know that that I had a major accident with my camera & lens last time I visited this location a few weeks ago and thanks to my insurance company and a really good Black Friday deal at Jessop's I have upgraded my camera to a Nikon D810 with a new 24-70mm 2.8 lens and today was the first opportunity to give my new gear a try!

In addition, my good friend Andy has also been converted to Nikon and has purchased a D810 as well and it was good that he was able to meet me at the beach today making it a real Team Nikon event!

I must say the camera is superb, the detail captured is incredible with amazing shadow recovery and an almost silent shutter, much better than my D800!!
