Day 6 of 365! Work is finally done and now it's time to play with the camera! So I figured I'd jump into the studio and practice with some lights as it's not my strongest skill, could have done with more back light to seperate from the background, live and learn.
I don't have to go far to find nature... These guys were waiting for me at the bottom of the hill as I was headed home.

The round headed door is in the north side. It is about 3 feet above level (the ground slopes down this way) and is reached these days by a short flight of steps. The doorway is still protected by a fine old yett and opens into a passage, with a recessed seat for a porter. The basement is vaulted and once contained an entresol or half floor. There is a well in the ground floor.
As usual, the Hall is on the first floor. It is a large, stone flagged room and well lit, even though the castle's windows are generally small (and therefore original). The Hall contains a handsome carved fireplace and an elaborate aumbry of late Gothic style. There are also two mural chambers at this level, that to the north, reached by descending 10 steps in the thickness of the wall, being subdivided to form a guardroom and a prison for naughty people. From the guardroom, a hatch in the floor provides the only access to a still more unpleasant pit, for really really naughty people, in the wall beneath, narrow, unlighted and unventilated.

Some more 4x5 tests using my old Polaroid Model 150 Roll Film Camera. Kodak Royal-X Pan 4166 (expired 6/1986) shot at about ISO 100.
I'm still having some troubles with the old Fink-Roselieve FR cut-film-pack developing tank. At first I thought I wasn't using enough liquid, but now, with plenty of liquid I'm still getting some odd dark areas of the negative near the top of the tank and I'm wondering if it's possible light leek? Hard to figure out. (I'll post some pix of the negs themselves soon.)

I'm on the right, blouse and skirt made by me. The skirt is a navy wool gabardine and was adapted from Simplicity pattern #3636, dated 1940 (the original pattern was a jumper type garment), the blouse is a green & white floral print cotton made from the same Simplicity #3636 vintage pattern.

Me styling Jackie's hair in our "camp" Sunday morning. Our display was actually a USO picnic, our unit didn't really have much of a "camp" as we went home at the end of each day with our picnic. However, we were a part of the 1940s encampment at ROH so "camp" it is.
