For fifty-three years, the Museum of Arts and Sciences has been home to the SAL Class 5CC Caboose #5236. SAL stands for the Seaboard Air Line Railway, a major railroad system that operated throughout the southeast from 1900 up until 1967. The SAL Caboose #5236 was built in 1923 and accumulated an estimated 1.9 million miles in its forty-one year lifetime. The caboose was decommissioned in 1964 and subsequently donated to the museum. In the years since, the caboose has been cared for and maintained by volunteers and museum staff.

I feel lost not being here, I miss everyone, but there is not enough time to work, come home take care of what needs doing and visit with my wonderful guest. I'm off for 9 days now so we plan to go sightseeing everyday. Thanksgiving will be shared with my close friend and coworker so Hunter can experience an American Thanksgiving.

Sipapu is doing so well, he's gained weight, he's grooming, he's so playful, just like a kitten. He's a new cat...but his BG continues to swing high and medium. He's not reached any type of normalcy. He's up to 5cc's of insulin twice a day, but he's happy.

I wish each of you and your loved ones a warm, happy and safe Thanksgiving. I will try to catch up adding to the group invites I have received in the next week. Blessings to each of you and thank you for your visit and most of all friendship ♥

- The suicide doors remained until end of production in 1977, while the coach became “normal” doors in 1965.

- Many FIAT lovers replaced the Autobianchi logo.

- Bianchi was founded by Edoardo Bianchi in 1885 (F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi S.p.A) and stopped car production in 1939 (1900-1939).

- It is the world's oldest bicycle-making company still in existence.

- Autobianchi was re-founded in 1955 by Bianchi, FIAT and Pirelli.

3.5cc, 0.2 cubic inches in an overhead valve four stroke engine.... I don't think they can get MUCH smaller.

This engine is no longer made, I guess people prefer electric motors now that the battery technology is up to the task.

Tyoe: RO 80

Engine: 2x497,5cc two-rotor spark-ignition KKM 612 Wankel engine

Power: 116 bhp / 5.500 rpm

Speed: 181 km/h

Production time: 1967 – 1977

Production outlet: 37,242

Curb weight: 1230 kg

Special:

- This (motor historie) revolutionair wedge shaped (“Keilform”) vehicle, designed by Claus Luthe, was not the first production car with a Wankel engine. That was the NSU Wankel Spier (1964-1967, single rotor 500cc, 64 bhp / 6.000 rpm, 153 km/h, 2,375 units built).

- RO stands for "Rotationskolben" ("rotary pistons").

- It has a three-speed Fichtel & Sachs all-synchromesh sem-automatic gearbox connected with an automatic electric-pneumatic clutch and F & S torque converter, dual Solex Typ 18/32 HHD carburettors or (since 1972) dual Solex 32 DDITS carburettors, a rev counter, a 83 liter fuel tank, a carpeted floor, PVC headlining and front wheel drive.

- The chassis has independent MacPherson strut suspension at the front, semi-trailing arm suspension with spring damper units and additional rubber springs at the rear, power assisted ZF rack and pinion steering, aluminum window frames, stainless steel bumpers, large windows (that era☺!) and ATE Dunlop powered disc brakes all around (front mounted inboard).

- The Wankel engine (475mm (l)/660mm (w)/555mm(h) weighs only 143 kg (dry, complete with fan and exhaust reactor).

- This extremely comfortable vehicle and “1968 European Car of the Year” has no clutch pedal, but instead, on top of the gearknob, an electric switch that operated a vacuum system which disengaged the clutch. The gear lever itself then could be moved through a standard 'H pattern' gate.

- At the beginning the engine gave many problems that could not be solved by NSU nor (their) technicians. Because of that many owners switched engines, mostly by Ford or AUDI.

- A feature of the engine was its willingness to rev quickly and quietly to damagingly high engine speeds. So all cars produced after 1971 came with an "acoustical signal" that warned the driver when the engine was rotating too fast.

- Nowadays one can make the engines reliable by modern applications that did not exist at that time.

- Leather seats were optional until 1973.

- All RO 80s are built at the NSU plant in Neckarsulm.

1938 ČZ 175 Standard - 172.5cc - single cylinder two-stroke air-cooled - three-speed gearbox - Graetzin carburettor - 6.4 bhp / 4.000 rpm - 6 Volts electric system - double, pressed from rolled steel profiles frame - wheelbase 51.2 inch - drum brakes all around - 10.5 liter fuel tank - 3,00x19 tires - curb weight 97 kg - top speed 90 km/h

- Assembled by ČZ (Česká Zbrojovka), Prague, Czech Republic between 1937 and 1938 (this 175 Standard).

- All vehicles were painted black with white striping and were available as this 175 Standard and as 175 Special (1937-1939) with extra trim, chrome rims, different wire wheels, reflector model B, an extra battery, rectifier and electric horn.

- Until 1946, when production was completed, nearly 22,000 pieces of these popular machines were produced.

Speed: 97 km/h

Production time:1967 - 1971

Production outlet: about 300

Curb weight: 450 kg

Special:

- Alfredo Vignale worked a lot together with Giovanni Michelotti, but occasionally he went his own way and in this case the (Spyder) Gamine ("Tomboy") was a result of Don Alfredo's "extravagances"☺☺!

- Its design is based on a FIAT 508 Balilla from the '30.

- It has rear wheel drive, a four-speed manual gearbox and a fuel tank capacity of 22 litres (5.78 gallons).

- The front suspension has a live axle with a single leaf spring, at the back independent wishbones and four wheel drum brakes.
