The world famous Fiat Nuova 500 was designed by Dante Giacosa. Production lasted for eighteen years.

The 500L was introduced in Aug. 1968 to accompany the more sober 500F. The 'L' stands for Lusso or Luxe, but don't expect to much of this predicate, the 500 stayed very basic.

Or this 500 is an original 1968-1972 500L with a new 1975 registration number, or it's a 1972-1975 500R with 500L specs extra bumper bars. I guess it's the first option.

AUSTIN SET

Designed and developed by Herbert Austin and Stanley Edge at Austin's home in Lickey Grange, (independant of the Austin Motor Company), in order to discover a new market for Austin cars. At first rejected by the Austin board production only began after Herbert Austin threatened to take the design to rivals Wolseley

The Austin Seven was introduced in 1923 with regular updates until final production in 1939. Initially introduced with a 696cc engine. Before the 747cc engine became standard with a top speed of aroind 50mph and 50mpg fuel consumption, the model was so successful it virtually wiped out most other light cars. The Seven had four wheel brakes (handbrake on the front, footbrake on the rear) until coupled in July 1930, it gained an electric starter in 1923, coil ignition and nickelled radiator in late 1928 and ball gearchange in 1929..

TheAustin Seven RP was the last of the box type Saloons, produced October 1932 until July 1934 when they were replaced by the Austin Seven Ruby. It has four forward plus one reverse gear with syncromesh on 3rd and 4th. and has 6 volt coil ignition electrics with an electric starter

This car is affectionately known as Rose by its owners and is based in Ardrishaig, Argyll, Scotland and is in regular use as the families second car for shopping pic-nics ect. She has recently undergone restoration work to the rear end, all four wings, the doors have been reframed and reskinned and the windscreen changes. Mechanical work included a rebuilt rear axle, new springs, brake drums and attention to the brakes, shockers rebuilt, and steering done.

When new in 1933 she cost £ 128 for the four seat Saloon version, the engine size of 747.5cc put her in the 8hp fiscal bracket with a yeares taxation costing £ 8, petrol was priced at seven and a half pence per gallon ( one shilling and five pence) and she covered 40 miles to the gallon.

Apart from a Ferrari, no car is more recognisable as classically Italian than the FIAT 500. Replacement for FIAT's much-loved 500 'Topolino', the Nuova 500 debuted in 1957. A radical departure from its predecessor's essentially pre-war design, FIAT's new baby featured unitary construction, a full-length opening (trasformabile) fabric roof and all-independent suspension while carrying its engine at the rear. The 479cc power unit was an air-cooled overhead-valve twin, the first such used by FIAT, and the gearbox a four-speeder.

The austerity of the basic 500 - it was known as the 'Economica' - was not well received, prompting the swift introduction of a revised and better equipped model, which first appeared towards the end of 1957 at the Turin Show. Refinements incorporated in this less Spartan version included wind-down windows, an upholstered rear seat, column-mounted switch gear stalks, and hubcaps. Introduced in 1960, the 500D used the 499.5cc engine of the 500 Sport in de-tuned form, which nevertheless brought with it a small gain in horsepower. With the introduction of the 500D, the short sunroof first seen on the Sport became available on the standard saloon.

The Nuova 500 was an immense success for FIAT, and by the time production ceased in 1975 almost 3,000,000 of these adorable little cars had been sold. The original FIAT 500 remains as popular today as it ever was and recently was voted 'Sexiest Car' by the readers of the UK's Top Gear motoring magazine.

This FIAT 500D Trasformabile was sold new in Terni, Italy in September 1964 to one Leandro Grilli and comes with its original libretto and current Italian registration papers. According to the original Italian documents the car has had only two previous owners in Italy. Presented in the lovely colour scheme of Verde Acquamarina over a red interior, the car has benefitted from an extensive restoration to a very high standard which was finished in 2016. Today the car is still presented in excellent condition, ready to be enjoyed.

This little, female, field mouse somehow found her way up to the top of an Alberta Spruce tree in our garden! I noticed her early one morning while making my watering rounds! I dubbed her “Alberta” or “Albey” for the short version. I committed to learning to be a sort of “momma mouse” with feedings of watered-down “mouse formula” every 3-4 hrs. which I obtained from a local pet store, along with advice on how to prepare it. Since my husband and I had planned an outing the next day, we decided that she would have to come along with us. She was placed in her little box, lined with soft tissue to be safe, secure, and comfy, then tucked carefully inside our roomy backpack, along with a small jar of her "formula."

My attempts to become a "Momma Mouse” of sorts to baby “Albey” seemed to go well for about five days. I had hoped that “Albey” would be a survivor! I followed the instructions to feed her .5cc of “mouse formula” every 3-4 hrs. until she could open her eyes and start to eat soft-solid food. She would be weaned around three weeks, if she thrived. I estimated, from photos of hand-reared mice that I saw on the internet, that her age was about 12-14 days old.

Unfortunately, the tiny mouse did not thrive and passed away. She was buried in our flower garden.

Fiat (Fabbica Italiana Automobili Torino) was founded in Turin, Italy in 1899. Giovanni Agnelli was one of the original share-builders and his family is still involved in running the company. The 500L is an upgraded version of the 500E.

The car was designed by Dante Giacosa. It was manufactured from 1968 through 1972. The 500 redefined the term 'small car' and is considered one of the first 'city cars.'

The engine is a 499.5cc air-cooled, overhead valve, inline, 2-cylinder that develops 22 bhp at 4400 RPM, and is capable of 59 mph.
